ideal for a c90

massaman gai, Wednesday, 4 March 2015 13:54 (nine years ago) link

er, no. a c90 is 2x45 with a gap in the middle.

i think the last time i burnt audio cds was when i djed but i've since found out that the decks in question would happily play mp3s off the same cds.

oh, and when giving stuff to other people, especially those non-cyber friends. 20p of cdr is still the cheapest option.

Do people still burn CDs?

Ssnb = instant classic

millmeister, Wednesday, 4 March 2015 14:26 (nine years ago) link

I mean, I can put it onto a 'phone and play it via a UHF transmitter gizmo, I do that with my Spotify occasionally..

Mark G, Wednesday, 4 March 2015 15:22 (nine years ago) link

a c90 is 2x45 with a gap in the middle.

for those who are gap averse, you could use a c180 and have it on both sides.
IMAGINE THAT !
auto-reverse.
job's a goodun.

Mark G, Wednesday, 4 March 2015 20:45 (nine years ago) link

brimstead, Thursday, 5 March 2015 00:19 (nine years ago) link

for folks who are looking to find an easier way into this stuff, I recommend a playlist of the longer (5+ mins) tracks to start with, a lot of them are amazing. by my count there's 67, not as daunting as 180 or whatever we're up to

put it on shuffle and let it roll, I'm doing it right now

if you go up to 6 mins you miss Plinky Plonk, Ssnb, early morning clissold, somewhereOTTGTBOG and dulcimer dub, don't do that

sleeve, Thursday, 5 March 2015 01:26 (nine years ago) link

I just put them into alphabet order, that's as random as any, and easier to keep tabs on.

Its basically ten CDR discs of the old playable format.

eventually a box set, I made the first one so far. Sounds cool..

They should release all 10 hours of this stuff as a Japanese bonus set. Like, re-release Syro with 10 other bonus CDs.

Josh in Chicago, Thursday, 5 March 2015 15:27 (nine years ago) link

I wonder if I should buy this as like an investment piece? The first 4 Analords and the LFO/AFX split I picked up seem to be fetching a little bit on Discogs at least

For as much money as I wanted to throw Richard's way between 2002-2014, but couldn't due to the dearth of releases, I'm happy to finally be able to do so now.

octobeard, Friday, 6 March 2015 05:16 (nine years ago) link

is he still doing the soundcloud leaks??

soyrev, Friday, 6 March 2015 09:40 (nine years ago) link

nothing for about a week now. but 173 is probably enough.

koogs, Friday, 6 March 2015 09:44 (nine years ago) link

Now Mike Paradinis has taken up the mantle and gone even further back:

https://soundcloud.com/mikep

including was is supposed to be a 1982 recording from when he was 10 years old:

https://soundcloud.com/mikep/sets/short-circuit-life-in-style-1982

also tons of mid 80s pre-rave new wave-esque type demos.

Uhhh kinda feel like dude's jettisoned the "enigmatic" thing. Some journos be reluctant to let go of their Homeric epithets.

i downloaded the first ~120 song batch but haven't kept up since. is there like a running dropbox folder everyone's using that i can just periodically visit?

soyrev, Thursday, 7 May 2015 14:48 (nine years ago) link

I have the first 170 or so... but none of what was posted the last couple weeks

octobeard, Thursday, 7 May 2015 15:45 (nine years ago) link

I don't think they were downloadable at any point

sleeve, Thursday, 7 May 2015 15:50 (nine years ago) link

The first lot were.

Still haven't burned more than cd1 of the 10cd set, but then again, was playing it in the car 10 mins ago.

Mark G, Thursday, 7 May 2015 17:19 (nine years ago) link

Mark what part of "the last couple of weeks" did you fail to understand there?

sleeve, Thursday, 7 May 2015 17:26 (nine years ago) link

The demonisation of the SNP.

Mark G, Thursday, 7 May 2015 18:32 (nine years ago) link

There's the third party Firefox plugin that gives you a download button; I used it to grab the ones from last week through Monday. But they are 128 bitrate.

octobeard, Friday, 8 May 2015 22:54 (nine years ago) link

no new material yet, right? that last batch was full of gems, just getting to them now. sheesh...

Posted 3 days ago3 days Adger Douth says at 0:28: are you still saving a lot of tracks for yourself…stuff well never hear?
Posted 3 days ago3 days user18081971 says at 0:28: yeah the last 8 years worth!

StanM, Saturday, 9 May 2015 09:56 (nine years ago) link

interesting. i wonder if that means now (or once this leak series is over) the well is pretty much dry on pre-2007 material?

soyrev, Saturday, 9 May 2015 10:04 (nine years ago) link

3 new tracks + a couple of the earlier tracks now have download enabled (higher bitrate)

StanM, Sunday, 10 May 2015 11:31 (nine years ago) link

2 of them are from Bradley's Robot EP, 1993, btw

StanM, Sunday, 10 May 2015 11:36 (nine years ago) link

Well, that comment makes sense: the old stuff isn't coming out as 'new', the last eight years just might..
