making Paula an option is unnecessary, there's so many other possibilities for joke votes even without her.

some dude, Friday, 26 September 2008 18:15 (fifteen years ago) link

Paula isn't a joke option!

A great answer:

Paula isn't a good answer, though.

so i've narrowed this down to tamyra, kelly and jordin...tamyra was the best on the show, kelly has the best discography and jordin is somewhere between those two accomplishments (also she obviously has my sentimental support)

also angry about this:

Ryan Starr forever!

Fantasia obviously, no contest.

After The Hurricane (The Brainwasher), Saturday, 27 September 2008 23:04 (fifteen years ago) link

My top 5 in no order:

Tamyra (agree, was the best on the show)
Carly (those of you who posted on the last AI thread will find this weird, but I really warmed up to her)
Trenyce (FIERCE!!!!!!! her Come See About Me is one of my fav Idol perfs)
Latoya (the only time I ever stopped watching AI was after she was eliminated. Maybe if Jasmine had left before her I would have been okay with it)
Kelly (a very close second to Tamyra on season one, but the greatest solo output)
Paris (I will concede that her audition was probably her best performance)

I'm pretty sure I said this before, but if Tamyra had been on any season than the first, the show would have had the resources and the momentum to turn her into a huge star. Oh well.

All you Pickler bashers. Have you even seen an interview with McPhee? She sounds "dumber" than how you perceive Kellie, only without the adorable Southern accent that drives me wild. And Kellie has a better body. If we were to vote, I'd rather get naked with Pickler. Instead of rose petals, I could spread a bunch of sliced dill pickles on the bed. I love pickles. Besides, I sleep with McPhee every Tuesday, every time she sings. Yawn.

Not enough people on this thread! I'm voting Tamyra.

The correct answer is Kelly.

I still hold a major grudge against Katharine McPhee because Elliott should have won that season.

I hate Katherine McPhee and Carrie Underwood so much.

I bought a bootleg of seasons 1-6 on DVD and can I just say that Ryan Starr was SO MUCH worse than you remember!? Rewatching season 1 was surreal; the production was almost ameturish and the auditions that got through were godawful. Good times.

kind of ridiculous how carrie underwood got 0 votes when other than Kelly she's probably been the most successful and will probably be around for years

kind of ridiculous how carrie underwood is more famous than tamyra gray

top 5 performances:
Jennifer Hudson - "Weekend In New England"
Kelly Clarkson - "Stuff Like That There"
Kelly Clarkson - "Before Your Love" (can't remember if it was the final night or finale face-off version)
Kelly Clarkson - "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman"
Kelly Clarkson - "You Lied"

Paul, Tuesday, 27 April 2010 00:32 (thirteen years ago) link

top 2 male performances:
Rickey Smith - "It Might Be You"
Rickey Smith - "I've Done Enough Dyin' Today"
the rest are probably all Ruben!

it was worth all the rest of the shit I had to sit through just to hear those 7 (and a few other) performances above

Paul, Tuesday, 27 April 2010 00:45 (thirteen years ago) link

Tamyra - "A House Is Not A Home" (video above) also belongs on the greats list

I don't think anyone here's watching this anymore, but look, this season has its own Lana Del Rey:
