this is their best event surely:

https://files.list.co.uk/images/i/imaginarium-x3-stargateimg-lst157034.jpg

For Imaginarium's third birthday, celebrate all that's sci-fi, Egyptian, mythical, god/goddesses and just regular out-there. A night of full-costumed, full-on house, techno, goth, cyber rave.
Imaginarium X3: Stargate:IMG

After scans reveal an unknown energy source on a forgotten desert planet the Voodoo Lynch Mob descend to the surface where they find a strange portal-like ring half submerged in the dunes. Deploying the crew and a brace of shuttles the relic is hauled back to the orbiting Imaginarium for further studies.

The Imaginarium's engineers hook it up to the starship's central computer but as they start to run tests there is a huge power surge, the lights go out and a golden, winged figure steps out of the gate. Wind and lightning swirl around the cargo bay and spheres of pulsating light fly out and enter the bodies of the Mob and their crew.

Guttural voices spring forth from the suddenly golden-robed Mob: 'I am Ra' 'I am Anubis' … It seems the captains have been possessed and it's time for an Egyptian adventure in Outer Rave Space.

Featuring the finest in London's underground DJ talent, incredible dancers, the finest costumes, the heaviest dance floor on the scene, full dungeon, couples area, interactive performances, fully custom decor and the friendliest, most accepting crowd in this greatest of earth's cities Imaginarium is ready to once again rock your body as we celebrate three years of Imaginarium.

Dress code: Egyptian mythology, sci-fi soldiers, gods and goddesses, creatures of gold, ancient warriors, slaves, fetish, goth, cyber, rave, sci fi or just plain out there.

No effort, no entry: no streetwear, just be fabulous.

let me be your fan taytay (NickB), Thursday, 26 February 2015 10:00 (nine years ago) link

Nah, people who go to those things go all out.

full-on house, techno, goth, cyber rave

This means psytrance and gabba, btw.

Matt DC, Thursday, 26 February 2015 10:01 (nine years ago) link

And maybe Depeche Mode and NIN pitched up.

Matt DC, Thursday, 26 February 2015 10:02 (nine years ago) link

I'm visiting imaginariumevents.com but am just getting the WordPress installer for the site.

Nah, people who go to those things go all out.

yeah you're right of course. there's a pretty big rave gear / dress-up-like-a-cyber-pirate shop in brighton and i always wonder how it keeps going - guess it's mostly nights like that. maybe i should go in there one day on some sort of psytrance mr ben adventure

let me be your fan taytay (NickB), Thursday, 26 February 2015 10:21 (nine years ago) link

every town must have a small but hardcore contingent of cybergoths and judging by the average indoor market, the clothing must be relatively cheap. the metalworks is a pretty big venue afaik, right?

Unheimlich Manouevre (dog latin), Thursday, 26 February 2015 10:27 (nine years ago) link

Not really. It's the Slimelight club. I've seen bands like Chrome & Extreme Noise Terror there. Capacity is apparently 750 though.

Just noise and screaming and no musical value at all. (Colonel Poo), Thursday, 26 February 2015 10:32 (nine years ago) link

It looks like a pound shop version of the FKA Twigs Two Weeks video, and given the Twigs crowd the other week appeared to be like 50% 20-year old lesbian goths I'd say they'd got it pretty much on-trend for their market.

Matt DC, Thursday, 26 February 2015 10:43 (nine years ago) link

ah didn't realise electrowerkz = metalworks

Unheimlich Manouevre (dog latin), Thursday, 26 February 2015 10:51 (nine years ago) link

so anyway, London FAP?

three weeks pass...

not as bad as the OP, but the '15 lollapalooza lineup is pretty dreadful.

billstevejim, Wednesday, 25 March 2015 17:14 (nine years ago) link

But, for some reason, 3 day passes appear to be sold out. Not that I'm interested or anything...

kwhitehead, Wednesday, 25 March 2015 17:23 (nine years ago) link

well yeah the 4-5 big headliners are reliable sellers, but that doesn't make it a good festival.

billstevejim, Wednesday, 25 March 2015 17:26 (nine years ago) link

Looking upthread I reckon T still wins this one, would sooner listen to metal and Macca than banterladrock any day of the week. And I really hate metal and Macca

would love it if one of these fests would sneak an aerosmith logo at the bottom just to see if anyone notices

poor judas priest. what did they ever do to deserve this? bush probably did something to deserve this, but i feel bad for them anyway.

billstevejim, Thursday, 26 March 2015 16:59 (nine years ago) link

I dont. Seems like they will do anything for money if they appear on that bill.

I briefly dated a woman and asked her to go to the Winnipeg Folk Fest with me, but she declined because she was going to Rockfest in Cadott instead. The relationship didn't last much longer.
