hes not you know "a percentages guy"
― lag∞n, Wednesday, 25 February 2015 17:21 (nine years ago) link
he was never a 35% ft guy before though
― polyphonic, Wednesday, 25 February 2015 17:22 (nine years ago) link
he makes shaq look like rick berry
pardon me i meant 31%
― polyphonic, Wednesday, 25 February 2015 17:24 (nine years ago) link
ya his terrible FT shooting has been fucking w his game for a while, he just avoids contact completely now which is basically death in the nba especially for a guy who cant shoot
― lag∞n, Wednesday, 25 February 2015 17:24 (nine years ago) link
his 3pt% is higher than his ft somehow
― polyphonic, Wednesday, 25 February 2015 17:26 (nine years ago) link
ft% im sure is somewhat artificially depressed by the fact that he never actually takes any

Help us understand why the Suns traded the LAL #1 for 2 months of Brandon Knight?
Chad Ford (1:19 PM)
They want to sign Knight to a long-term contract. They were going to go hard after him this summer -- but their chances of getting him were much slimmer given his restricted free agent status. This guaranteed that they controlled his future. If Knight can buy into playing off the ball (Jason Kidd wasn't convinced he was a point guard which explains why they made the deal for MCW) and letting Bledsoe run the point, I think it will be a great deal for the Suns. I like Knight much better off the ball. But that's a big if. Knight has always wanted to be the point guard and I'm not sure he'll adjust any better than Goran Dragic did. We'll see. He has more incentive.

hmm, ok, gl everyone involved
― call all destroyer, Wednesday, 25 February 2015 18:23 (nine years ago) link
the chances of the lakers pick turning into a player as good as brandon knight are prob like idk ~50%
― lag∞n, Wednesday, 25 February 2015 18:28 (nine years ago) link
and the suns prob want to actually be good at basketball at some point rather than just developing young players forever
― lag∞n, Wednesday, 25 February 2015 18:29 (nine years ago) link
but on the other hand that pick has a dece chance of turning into a superstar too
― lag∞n, Wednesday, 25 February 2015 18:31 (nine years ago) link
suns clearly love brandon knight, and tbf his trajectory has been pretty good
(And remember, Milwaukee could've just gotten that pick from the Suns straight up for Knight if they had wanted it ... they clearly judged MCW as more valuable).
this is kinda crazy tho
― lag∞n, Wednesday, 25 February 2015 18:33 (nine years ago) link
cld def see kidd loving mcw game tho lol
― lag∞n, Wednesday, 25 February 2015 18:34 (nine years ago) link
i could see kidd extracting some better play out of MCW
― J0rdan S., Wednesday, 25 February 2015 18:53 (nine years ago) link
ya he was in a very tuff spot in philly playing with a D league roster
― lag∞n, Wednesday, 25 February 2015 18:54 (nine years ago) link
but still i doubt hell ever be too good
also i think they maybe covet his size more than most, with the way they play defense
like, MCW-giannis-jabari-henson is an incredible amount of length on the floor at one time
― J0rdan S., Wednesday, 25 February 2015 18:56 (nine years ago) link
i think MCW will be good he'll just always be a very specific fit because of his shooting
guys who cant shoot im dubious of, guys who cant shoot or finish im just like nah, his finishing isnt terrible but its not good either, his shooting is legit awful tho
― lag∞n, Wednesday, 25 February 2015 18:58 (nine years ago) link
Milwaukee needs someone who can score, that's gotta be their #1 priority. I'm not sure what MCW brings to the table that they didn't already have.
― Abstinence Hawk (frogbs), Wednesday, 25 February 2015 19:06 (nine years ago) link
in this deal they seem to have prioritized distribution and defense over scoring
― lag∞n, Wednesday, 25 February 2015 19:12 (nine years ago) link
cld be thinking giannis is their #1 option of the future which is not unreasonable
― lag∞n, Wednesday, 25 February 2015 19:13 (nine years ago) link
Even as a passer he doesn't seem all that great to me. His rebounding is very strong but other than that...
― polyphonic, Wednesday, 25 February 2015 19:13 (nine years ago) link
kidd wanting a trad point guard is very kidd but might be behind the times as far as how the nba is actually played today
on the bright side, if the bucks falter now, it reduces the chances of kidd being voted COY
― Aimless, Wednesday, 25 February 2015 19:35 (nine years ago) link

well that's gonna be jabari
― J0rdan S., Wednesday, 25 February 2015 19:39 (nine years ago) link
if the bucks didn't wanna resign knight and also didn't want to bring along another rookie i don't think the move to get MCW is terrible or anything
― J0rdan S., Wednesday, 25 February 2015 19:40 (nine years ago) link
that said if they could have gotten d'angelo russell or emmanuel mudiay instead?
― J0rdan S., Wednesday, 25 February 2015 19:41 (nine years ago) link
Brandon Knight and Brandan Wright are on the same team. v confusing
― polyphonic, Wednesday, 25 February 2015 19:49 (nine years ago) link
I think the Bucks need to focus on losing, and who better to jumpstart that effort than proven loser MCW
― polyphonic, Wednesday, 25 February 2015 19:57 (nine years ago) link
i get that argument but i think if you have the young talent milwaukee has and it's not like you're going to be in the top five anyway the benefits of making playoffs are worth the four or five spots you're costing yrself in the draft.

playing himself out of a lot of money
i just think at some point you need to actually develop young talent and some measure of progress and experience can be worth drafting sixteenth instead of twelfth depending on the draft (mind you i'm hoping and praying the nets slip back out of the eight seed and into that 11-12 area at worst cuz i would love justise winslow on the hawks). this situation is somewhat specific to milwaukee, they already have some of the pieces of the team they want to eventually have and they'd be very unlikely to draft high, w/ someone like the magic where you also believe you have some of the pieces but the season's fucked and you're looking at the top of draft then tank away. i guess what i'm saying is that sure you don't want to be that in between club (esp in the case of a market like milwaukee) but you don't want to get so comfortable w/ being a cellar dweller you turn into the old clippers or kings, i think even from an analytics standpoint it has the potential of distorting yr data so that you can't evaluate yr players as well as you'd like.
field is griz, thunder, spurs and a miracle. that number's high but not absurd to me. playoffs a ways away.
