although the Lik A Maid was popular when i was a kid, in retrospect it seems pretty lame

Mr. Que, Tuesday, 24 March 2009 16:53 (fifteen years ago) link

yeah lik a maid was retarded

(lbrah) (harbl), Tuesday, 24 March 2009 16:56 (fifteen years ago) link

Mr. Que, Tuesday, 24 March 2009 16:57 (fifteen years ago) link

it's lik m aid and i still like that shit when i'm really really really diabetic

WOOKIE JOHNSON (forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 24 March 2009 17:04 (fifteen years ago) link

i feel like there should be separate divisions for chocolate related and not chocolate related

I will "Build This City" on your GODDAMN GRAVE (jjjusten), Tuesday, 24 March 2009 17:05 (fifteen years ago) link

obv chocolate should probably be in scare quotes there but whatever

I will "Build This City" on your GODDAMN GRAVE (jjjusten), Tuesday, 24 March 2009 17:06 (fifteen years ago) link

yes i agree--chocolate candies are imo the pinnacle of candies and shd not be judged in the same way that non-chocolate candies are

rip dom passantino 3/5/09 never forget (max), Tuesday, 24 March 2009 17:08 (fifteen years ago) link

divisions should be acidic/spicy/chocolate/nutty/gum/solid state sugar/cocaine

WOOKIE JOHNSON (forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 24 March 2009 17:09 (fifteen years ago) link

yall are underrating lik m aid, shit was great. eating the stick was the best part, too n/h

Leif ericsonned (k3vin k.), Tuesday, 24 March 2009 17:12 (fifteen years ago) link

forks are acidic and sour the same thing in your taxonomy? bcuz then i am totally down with it

I will "Build This City" on your GODDAMN GRAVE (jjjusten), Tuesday, 24 March 2009 17:17 (fifteen years ago) link

i'm going to give that a tentative yes.

WOOKIE JOHNSON (forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 24 March 2009 17:19 (fifteen years ago) link

there should maybe be a licorice and/or "weird tasting" category too.

WOOKIE JOHNSON (forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 24 March 2009 17:20 (fifteen years ago) link

my step-great-grandmother used to bring us licorice and/or weird tasting candy from germany. it was pretty gross.

(lbrah) (harbl), Tuesday, 24 March 2009 17:25 (fifteen years ago) link

Sometimes i really like anise flavored candy; mostly the little licorice pellets and seeds at indian restaurant doorways

serious question how do you pronounce anise is it like a-NIECE or AN-iss because the latter makes me think of anus and giggle ^_^

(lbrah) (harbl), Wednesday, 25 March 2009 01:07 (fifteen years ago) link

I think it's the latter.

WOOKIE JOHNSON (forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 25 March 2009 03:08 (fifteen years ago) link

I love licorice and/or anise flavored candy. I also love the following which most people think taste like soap:

For chocolate type candy I think I have to vote for Creme Eggs. Mini eggs are a close 2nd.

i like anise flavored toothpaste but not candy so much

Lamp, Thursday, 26 March 2009 03:59 (fifteen years ago) link

ive thought a lot about this and the answer is--

1. reeses peanut butter cups
2. peanut m&ms
3. snickers bars
4. lion bars
5. butterfingers

this is a really good list i dont have much to add except that ill rep pretty hard for gummy-type candies too - they fulfill a slightly different kind of candy craving theyre just that one step further removed from actual food

Lamp, Thursday, 26 March 2009 04:01 (fifteen years ago) link

circus peanuts kinda suck. They're like perennial marshmallow easter eggs.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/a/ac/CandyCorn.jpg/300px-CandyCorn.jpg

they're nothing special tastewise, but waxy, colorized high fructose corn syrup has never assumed a more perfect form, imo. snap off the white tips and affix one to each upper front tooth for instant vampire fangs, mold the other two sections into big, mushy cornballs — you know the drill.

these are SHIT. I hate them.

Those can definitely scratch a certain itch you didn't realize you had. I wouldn't want to eat them often.

Yeah, I have trouble eating fruit slices in moderation so buying a bag is basically like buying a stomach ache, but until the part where I want to barf, it's a sweet fucking ride, man.

favourite halloween candy is definitely those molasses kisses, anyone into those?

Week of Wonders (Ross), Saturday, 4 November 2017 20:58 (six years ago) link

^never heard of these until now, but I'm intrigued by any candy that inspires so many theatrical displays of revulsion -- "they ruined my childhood", "they're a blot on Canada's human rights record" etc. I can't think of any American candy that's so widely hated except maybe Necco wafers

There is Werthers Original coated popcorn now -not flavored, C*O*A*T*E*D- and it fixes all the flaws of Werthers, and popcorn.

there was a fun size Oreo chocolate bar going around during Halloween that I thought for a few weeks was the best candy bar ever but I just had one yesterday and now I don't really ever wanna have one again

frogbs, Tuesday, 21 January 2020 22:42 (four years ago) link

speaking of Oreos, the thin ones are just sinful, almost too good, they should be banned imo

I have not yet begun to fart (rip van wanko), Tuesday, 21 January 2020 22:48 (four years ago) link

Yes to Werthers. I feel like Nips also scratch a similar itch.
