tho hes also very crafty re getting to the rim w lots of nifty lil non athletic moves, whether that will be enough when his athleticism goes who knows

oh come on he's better than turkoglu ever was, turkoglu was your classic overperforming on a well-coached good team guy, dragic was the best player on his team

― k3vin k., Friday, February 20, 2015 9:11 AM (1 hour ago) Bookmark Flag Post Permalink

turkoglu also juiced himself into a great year and massive contract

Steph def def (Spottie), Friday, 20 February 2015 17:39 (nine years ago) link

turkoglu is very wise

lag∞n, Friday, 20 February 2015 17:40 (nine years ago) link

giving dragic the 5 year max would be icky but that's true for most any player who wants the max outside of like... 8 of them. if he's really good for the first 3 years of that deal you can accept some backsliding at the end.

J0rdan S., Friday, 20 February 2015 17:41 (nine years ago) link

problem is thats the best case scenario

lag∞n, Friday, 20 February 2015 17:42 (nine years ago) link

the heat basically only build through free agency and trades & they have some cache as a destinatino after the lebron years so i think their thinking is getting dragic congeals the roster into something resembling a good NBA team which might make them attractive to free agents in the next few summers

J0rdan S., Friday, 20 February 2015 17:43 (nine years ago) link

ya maybe tho their best two dudes r aging, still think trying to sign dragic this summer wldve been much wiser

lag∞n, Friday, 20 February 2015 17:44 (nine years ago) link

problem is thats the best case scenario

i think three good to very good years from dragic is more of a likely outcome than a best case one. a best case scenario is that he ages like steve nash. if he ages like tony parker then you'd be pretty okay with paying him a lot of money esp with the cap going up.

J0rdan S., Friday, 20 February 2015 17:44 (nine years ago) link

comparing him to two hall of famers is prob not the best place to start

lag∞n, Friday, 20 February 2015 17:47 (nine years ago) link

i'm not talking about him reaching their level of play as much as just maintaining his own level of play

guys don't start sucking immediately upon turning 30

J0rdan S., Friday, 20 February 2015 17:49 (nine years ago) link

well some do

lag∞n, Friday, 20 February 2015 17:50 (nine years ago) link

btw jordan i am happy u have stayed a heat fan after bron left

lag∞n, Friday, 20 February 2015 17:57 (nine years ago) link

yea v cool. altho will he with bosh out is the questions cos bosh is his man

Steph def def (Spottie), Friday, 20 February 2015 17:59 (nine years ago) link

he has formed an emotional bond which cannot be broken imho thats how it happens

lag∞n, Friday, 20 February 2015 18:00 (nine years ago) link

i haven't seen many games this year since they're on national TV a lot less but i'm still pulling for them

J0rdan S., Friday, 20 February 2015 18:08 (nine years ago) link

chris bosh does have that effect on ppl, I more or less despise the heat and pat riley but have always liked bosh's game and personality and velociraptor-esque yelling faces

slothroprhymes, Friday, 20 February 2015 18:09 (nine years ago) link

I just looked at that celtics flowchart until my brain melted and my iPad turned itself off

P lol that perk eventually turned into a bunch of stuff that's still coming up and ol Ray Allen just became nuthin'

This Bosh thing is very uncool I hope he is ok and also I want to see what that team could do

we just form a f#!king wall (agent hibachi), Friday, 20 February 2015 18:58 (nine years ago) link

Btw I agree w cad I want a full hour interview with Ahmad rashad that guys sitting on some incredible stories - wtf hanging out with miles Davis watching Monday night football is almost as good as al michaels story about watching the World Series or whatever it was on vhs tape at bill murrays house

Also Kyle Lowry is an excellent interview an I think he could be in sports media someday

jeez someone feed manute bol's son

k3vin k., Friday, 20 February 2015 19:07 (nine years ago) link

So as resident blood clot expert / experiencer: how the hell did bosh get blood clots? did he have surgery in the past couple of weeks? he's an athlete and he's like 30, so I can't think of anything except some kind of genetic clotting disorder in which case his career could be in jeopardy.

Clay, Friday, 20 February 2015 19:42 (nine years ago) link

air travel is a major risk factor

k3vin k., Friday, 20 February 2015 19:49 (nine years ago) link

more generally immobility such as being on long flights

k3vin k., Friday, 20 February 2015 19:54 (nine years ago) link

maybe he is smoking and taking the pill too tho

lag∞n, Friday, 20 February 2015 19:59 (nine years ago) link

yeah i considered the constant travel thing but idk you think it'd be more common for nba guys if that were the case. bosh has also apparently been complaining about being "under the weather" since at least all-star weekend and that doesn't strike me as thrombosis-y but then i never had anything in a vital organ and as the clot builds the condition worsens along with it so i suppose it's possible a building clot in the lung could feel like an oncoming cold at first?

Clay, Friday, 20 February 2015 20:04 (nine years ago) link

btw i am a doctor so

Clay, Friday, 20 February 2015 20:04 (nine years ago) link

what the blood clot?

Steph def def (Spottie), Friday, 20 February 2015 20:07 (nine years ago) link

a lingering cough is a common sign of a pulmonary embolism, could be he mistook that for a cold or something

like any other disease a PE will arise as a result of a confluence of several factors, as you said all NBA players are at somewhat increased risk because of their constant travel, for several guys add to that a genetic predisposition or some other lifestyle factor (smoking, etc) and it can happen

k3vin k., Friday, 20 February 2015 20:10 (nine years ago) link

orthopedic surgery is another major risk factor that could be more commonly seen in NBA players compared to the general population. not that that would necessarily explain specific cases

k3vin k., Friday, 20 February 2015 20:13 (nine years ago) link

i think three good to very good years from dragic is more of a likely outcome than a best case one. a best case scenario is that he ages like steve nash. if he ages like tony parker then you'd be pretty okay with paying him a lot of money esp with the cap going up.

Dragic is much more reliant on athleticism than those two. Much more.

Matt Armstrong, Friday, 20 February 2015 22:21 (nine years ago) link

if they really give him a max deal it's a gamble for sure and I don't think a good one.

Matt Armstrong, Friday, 20 February 2015 22:22 (nine years ago) link

I would be really excited about Bol Bol if it sounded like he enjoyed basketball at all

Matt Armstrong, Friday, 20 February 2015 22:53 (nine years ago) link

haberstroh said on simmons podcast that dragic has played 3,000 less minutes than westbrook despite being in the same draft class and that he might be a "young 30"

J0rdan S., Friday, 20 February 2015 23:02 (nine years ago) link

anyway bosh is out for the season, what a waste

J0rdan S., Friday, 20 February 2015 23:02 (nine years ago) link

moullet, Saturday, 21 February 2015 01:36 (nine years ago) link

lag∞n, Saturday, 21 February 2015 01:39 (nine years ago) link
