turkoglu also juiced himself into a great year and massive contract

turkoglu is very wise

giving dragic the 5 year max would be icky but that's true for most any player who wants the max outside of like... 8 of them. if he's really good for the first 3 years of that deal you can accept some backsliding at the end.

problem is thats the best case scenario

the heat basically only build through free agency and trades & they have some cache as a destinatino after the lebron years so i think their thinking is getting dragic congeals the roster into something resembling a good NBA team which might make them attractive to free agents in the next few summers

ya maybe tho their best two dudes r aging, still think trying to sign dragic this summer wldve been much wiser

i think three good to very good years from dragic is more of a likely outcome than a best case one. a best case scenario is that he ages like steve nash. if he ages like tony parker then you'd be pretty okay with paying him a lot of money esp with the cap going up.

comparing him to two hall of famers is prob not the best place to start

i'm not talking about him reaching their level of play as much as just maintaining his own level of play

guys don't start sucking immediately upon turning 30

he has formed an emotional bond which cannot be broken imho thats how it happens

i haven't seen many games this year since they're on national TV a lot less but i'm still pulling for them

chris bosh does have that effect on ppl, I more or less despise the heat and pat riley but have always liked bosh's game and personality and velociraptor-esque yelling faces

So as resident blood clot expert / experiencer: how the hell did bosh get blood clots? did he have surgery in the past couple of weeks? he's an athlete and he's like 30, so I can't think of anything except some kind of genetic clotting disorder in which case his career could be in jeopardy.

maybe he is smoking and taking the pill too tho

yeah i considered the constant travel thing but idk you think it'd be more common for nba guys if that were the case. bosh has also apparently been complaining about being "under the weather" since at least all-star weekend and that doesn't strike me as thrombosis-y but then i never had anything in a vital organ and as the clot builds the condition worsens along with it so i suppose it's possible a building clot in the lung could feel like an oncoming cold at first?

a lingering cough is a common sign of a pulmonary embolism, could be he mistook that for a cold or something

like any other disease a PE will arise as a result of a confluence of several factors, as you said all NBA players are at somewhat increased risk because of their constant travel, for several guys add to that a genetic predisposition or some other lifestyle factor (smoking, etc) and it can happen

orthopedic surgery is another major risk factor that could be more commonly seen in NBA players compared to the general population. not that that would necessarily explain specific cases

Dragic is much more reliant on athleticism than those two. Much more.

if they really give him a max deal it's a gamble for sure and I don't think a good one.

I would be really excited about Bol Bol if it sounded like he enjoyed basketball at all

haberstroh said on simmons podcast that dragic has played 3,000 less minutes than westbrook despite being in the same draft class and that he might be a "young 30"
