bernard king was amazing too, the way he broke down the way he approached scoring was almost ted williamsesque

after reading some trade deadline reactions ive come to the conclusion goran dragic is the modern day turkoglu, the one player every nba fan is convinced is really good after he had one really good season during a career of pretty good seasons

Simmons: I am making this point for the second time this week: Dragic was the fourth-best guard in basketball last season. I voted him second-team All-NBA. There were legitimate reasons why his numbers dropped this year that had nothing to do with him and everything to do with the bizarre but lovable roster that Phoenix slapped together. Miami becomes a title contender if it can get him without touching its top four … at least until we remember that Dwyane Wade couldn’t play 38 MPG for four straight rounds even if Anthony Bosch, Brian McNamee and Ivan Drago’s trainer were training him. But we won’t remember that until, like, late April, right?

bill simmons dragic has a whole career u cn look at btw the stats are avalible online

Goldsberry: Dragic is really good with the right guys. Last year, Vogel called the Dragic-Frye pick-and-roll “maybe the hardest to cover in the game.”

last year

oh come on he's better than turkoglu ever was, turkoglu was your classic overperforming on a well-coached good team guy, dragic was the best player on his team

k3vin k., Friday, 20 February 2015 16:11 (nine years ago) link

i did love turkoglu tho lol

k3vin k., Friday, 20 February 2015 16:12 (nine years ago) link

ur doing it right now, u r turkogluing him

lag∞n, Friday, 20 February 2015 16:13 (nine years ago) link

and given the black hole that is the miami point guard situation he fills a need, that's probably worth a couple millies per year. his age is concerning but he's not going to fall off a cliff in all likelihood, and his age fits well with bosh/wade's window. it's a good get

k3vin k., Friday, 20 February 2015 16:14 (nine years ago) link

two first round picks for the honor of maxing dragic out idk man

lag∞n, Friday, 20 February 2015 16:14 (nine years ago) link

if they max him now before the cap raises it might be fine

k3vin k., Friday, 20 February 2015 16:16 (nine years ago) link

it might be fine, prob not worth two first round picks tho

New @Celtics jersey numbers:

lol i completely forgot they got two other players

slothroprhymes, Friday, 20 February 2015 16:18 (nine years ago) link

p sure those arent real guys

lag∞n, Friday, 20 February 2015 16:20 (nine years ago) link

tho i do actually remember jerebko having a good game once for the pistons

lag∞n, Friday, 20 February 2015 16:21 (nine years ago) link

i had doubts myself, damn it danny

slothroprhymes, Friday, 20 February 2015 16:22 (nine years ago) link

dragic did have an exceptional season last year but he's been very good for like 4 years now

J0rdan S., Friday, 20 February 2015 16:41 (nine years ago) link

he has not been very good he has been just good

lag∞n, Friday, 20 February 2015 16:45 (nine years ago) link

he's finishing even better this year than he was last year, his advanced numbers are down a bit due to a downtick in 3pt shooting and a lower usage because of the 3 guard thing. he should dominate the ball in miami plenty

the other interesting thing will be how much leverage the heat lose in contract talks with bosh's health uncertain

k3vin k., Friday, 20 February 2015 17:03 (nine years ago) link

well if they offer him the 5 year max one wld think hed sign, especially since miami was one of the places he said he wanted to play

lag∞n, Friday, 20 February 2015 17:04 (nine years ago) link

congrats heat i guess u just bought a 34 y/io goran dragic

lag∞n, Friday, 20 February 2015 17:05 (nine years ago) link

yeah signing an athletic point guard long term for his past-prime years is risky for sure

k3vin k., Friday, 20 February 2015 17:13 (nine years ago) link

guess the heat felt like they had a chance to make some noise this year otherwise not sure why u wldnt just wait and try to sign him in the offseason, if u lose out and the knicks can offer him more cause they traded for him its not really the end of the world

lag∞n, Friday, 20 February 2015 17:15 (nine years ago) link

urgency i guess is understandable w that teams age but still feels overly desperate

lag∞n, Friday, 20 February 2015 17:16 (nine years ago) link

now if bosh is out obvs its all for naught, crazy timing

lag∞n, Friday, 20 February 2015 17:16 (nine years ago) link

dragic cld age decently i guess tho cause hes got size and shooting and overall a pretty crafty game

lag∞n, Friday, 20 February 2015 17:18 (nine years ago) link

his shooting is not that reliable and he relies a lot on his athleticism + getting to the rim

k3vin k., Friday, 20 February 2015 17:22 (nine years ago) link

tru

lag∞n, Friday, 20 February 2015 17:24 (nine years ago) link

tho hes also very crafty re getting to the rim w lots of nifty lil non athletic moves, whether that will be enough when his athleticism goes who knows

turkoglu also juiced himself into a great year and massive contract

Steph def def (Spottie), Friday, 20 February 2015 17:39 (nine years ago) link

turkoglu is very wise

lag∞n, Friday, 20 February 2015 17:40 (nine years ago) link

giving dragic the 5 year max would be icky but that's true for most any player who wants the max outside of like... 8 of them. if he's really good for the first 3 years of that deal you can accept some backsliding at the end.

J0rdan S., Friday, 20 February 2015 17:41 (nine years ago) link

problem is thats the best case scenario

lag∞n, Friday, 20 February 2015 17:42 (nine years ago) link

the heat basically only build through free agency and trades & they have some cache as a destinatino after the lebron years so i think their thinking is getting dragic congeals the roster into something resembling a good NBA team which might make them attractive to free agents in the next few summers

J0rdan S., Friday, 20 February 2015 17:43 (nine years ago) link

ya maybe tho their best two dudes r aging, still think trying to sign dragic this summer wldve been much wiser

lag∞n, Friday, 20 February 2015 17:44 (nine years ago) link

― lag∞n, Friday, February 20, 2015 12:42 PM (52 seconds ago) Bookmark

i think three good to very good years from dragic is more of a likely outcome than a best case one. a best case scenario is that he ages like steve nash. if he ages like tony parker then you'd be pretty okay with paying him a lot of money esp with the cap going up.

J0rdan S., Friday, 20 February 2015 17:44 (nine years ago) link

comparing him to two hall of famers is prob not the best place to start

lag∞n, Friday, 20 February 2015 17:47 (nine years ago) link

i'm not talking about him reaching their level of play as much as just maintaining his own level of play

guys don't start sucking immediately upon turning 30

J0rdan S., Friday, 20 February 2015 17:49 (nine years ago) link

well some do

lag∞n, Friday, 20 February 2015 17:50 (nine years ago) link

btw jordan i am happy u have stayed a heat fan after bron left

lag∞n, Friday, 20 February 2015 17:57 (nine years ago) link

yea v cool. altho will he with bosh out is the questions cos bosh is his man

Steph def def (Spottie), Friday, 20 February 2015 17:59 (nine years ago) link

he has formed an emotional bond which cannot be broken imho thats how it happens

lag∞n, Friday, 20 February 2015 18:00 (nine years ago) link

i haven't seen many games this year since they're on national TV a lot less but i'm still pulling for them

J0rdan S., Friday, 20 February 2015 18:08 (nine years ago) link

chris bosh does have that effect on ppl, I more or less despise the heat and pat riley but have always liked bosh's game and personality and velociraptor-esque yelling faces

slothroprhymes, Friday, 20 February 2015 18:09 (nine years ago) link

I just looked at that celtics flowchart until my brain melted and my iPad turned itself off

P lol that perk eventually turned into a bunch of stuff that's still coming up and ol Ray Allen just became nuthin'
