this was a clever episode and yet I didn't really laugh that much

Yeah ditto. The crudest gag (Frank painting himself black by degrees) also the funniest.

the joke should be over once the kid is eaten. (chap), Thursday, 5 February 2015 21:43 (nine years ago) link

Frank imitating the monoxide detector was kind of amazing.

this episode was absolutely peak dennis, up there with "the implication" speech.

conversation between charlie and his mum in the latest episode had me buckled.

A fairly average episode overall but yeah that was killer. Also mac's dad always good value.

Remind me which is his "implication" speech?

omg how did i forget about that!

AKA Thermo Thinwall (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Wednesday, 4 March 2015 14:32 (nine years ago) link

It's his sudden change in expression after he says 'implication' that makes it.

this show is now one of my favourite things, somehow avoids the pitfalls of most every modern sitcom. just so tight /latepass

ok charlie's answer on the first round of that quiz is maybe the hardest i've laughed at anything in maybe a few years? the build up was perfect but by god the execution

Having the gang go on a game show was pretty genius and they pulled it off.

After seeing part of a 'World Series of Poker' episode where someone looked to me quite a bit like Charlie, I thought it could be funny if they had the gang get into that tournament.

Hard to think of any show ever really which has been more self-referential and reliant on callbacks than this is at the moment, though it's still consistently laugh out loud funny. I just wonder what someone new to the whole thing would make of recent episodes.

I recently re-watched this show from the beginning and I had forgotten how much gets established early on. Like, in the 4th episode they introduce the waitress + Charlie's infatuation w her, Artemis, Dee's acting ambitions, and Mac's infatuation with Carmen the transexual. Almost everything the show calls back to (including most of the recurring characters) is set up by the end of the 2nd season.

Οὖτις, Wednesday, 20 January 2016 17:18 (eight years ago) link

and it's all pretty basic: McPoyles as arch enemies, Cricket as perpetual stooge, Mac's mom is a lump, Charlie's mom is a deluded whore, Mac's dad is a psycho ex-con etc.

pretty easy target but loved the 80s movie spoof, kudos for getting Chainsaw. I know he was in Ski School and that's more appropriate, but he'll always be Chainsaw to me. And Hot Dog is the skiing movie of my youth.

The Jessie's Girl scene in this weeks episode cracked me up in this episode.

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia takes the show continuity to Star Trek levels, more than even Seinfeld.

Obviously after the blizzard this week, I'd have to think "The Gang Get Snowed In" could be an episode. (They once did do a hurricane show.)

earlnash, Monday, 25 January 2016 06:10 (eight years ago) link

oh shit didn't even know there were new episodes already
