About half way through a proper listen at last. Really lovely mix of things.

whoa, i wonder if the playlist sequence at https://soundcloud.com/user48736353001/sets/all is more or less chronological compared to the upload order

4 bit is banging as fuck. the bass timbres, contours, shapes (etc.) on Syro are in a league of their own.. is there anybody else out there using FM synthesis to such stimulating effect?

I was thinking much the same thing today about that track. It's a remarkable bit of work and no, I don't think there's anyone to touch him.

He's restarted.

like this is complete oversaturation; I don't know how to even make sense of all of this. How many total tracks had he even released prior to this? Like 150?
― Jennifer 8.-( (Stevie D(eux)), Tuesday, 3 February 2015 22:24 (nine years ago) link
I mean he has essentially DOUBLED is recorded output in the last week
this time there are download links for the tracks!
"SomewhereOTTGTBAG" and "28 Organ" and "sline" are all amazing discoveries from the last batch
― parakeetal pancreasface (sleeve), Tuesday, 3 February 2015 22:27 (nine years ago) link
ahh... more? but my hard drive only has so much space.
yeah "28 organ" is stunning.

dammit I jinxed the download links

they're working for me, did they vanish for you?
― Brakhage, Tuesday, 3 February 2015 23:11 (nine years ago) link
he just added them (to the last few tracks)
― parakeetal pancreasface (sleeve), Tuesday, 3 February 2015 23:20 (nine years ago) link
listened to all of these on a road trip to LA this weekend
did get a little maxed out around tracks 65-80 but it picked back up again, it made for a fantastic drive.
as surreal as someone mailing you a copy of your college yearbook, only when you open it all the pictures are different and it's four times as long
― Milton Parker, Tuesday, 3 February 2015 23:31 (nine years ago) link
what order did you use for the tracks?
― parakeetal pancreasface (sleeve), Tuesday, 3 February 2015 23:32 (nine years ago) link
2 Dual Acid Ab6
this is interesting, i would like to know what milton p thinks of it

― anima corrective (nakhchivan), Tuesday, 3 February 2015 23:33 (nine years ago) link
order of sc upload
the run of moodular acid tracks were highlights, could have gone on four times as long

the most immediately interesting tracks here are i would assume from 95ish and recall the discussion upthread about the software music explosion and the period immediately prior to it

Okay so he's up to 130 now, plus the two he took down.

if only he had just put up 400 tracks all at once without soundcloud's horrible UI
― brimstead, Wednesday, 4 February 2015 02:28 (nine years ago) link
this is all so generous that he probably feels the need to introduce a little bit of inconvenience

140 on Soundcloud now. All downloadable apart from most the recent two (14 Floating∞ and hilo) which I assume he'll enable at some point.
― groovypanda, Wednesday, 4 February 2015 08:39 (nine years ago) link
Actually hilo has d/l link. It's the latest three that don't have

He's also had a track blocked by the notorious Soundcloud police:
Our automatic content protection system has detected that your sound "FmsubBass" may contain the following copyright content: "Absence" by Riva Starr, owned by George V Records. As a result, its publication on your profile has been blocked.no it doesn't!
no it doesn't!

Where is this in the run? I've listened to the first sixteen or so now (presumably SAW1 and Digeridoo-era) and it's all nice but with one or two glaring exceptions I've not heard much that was screaming to be released.
― Matt DC, Wednesday, 4 February 2015 09:47 (nine years ago) link
150
― groovypanda, Wednesday, 4 February 2015 13:02 (nine years ago) link
so, the two he took down, what were they? red calx? girl / boy dark?
the original 110 match exactly the 12 tapes in the google document that someone posted. but what are these others?

do we know where that doc came from? Was it RDJ or just some fan?
― Jennifer 8.-( (Stevie D(eux)), Wednesday, 4 February 2015 13:35 (nine years ago) link
by a fan on watmm. not entirely sure how they worked out the tape splits, but it looks like they've decided that whenever RDJ takes a long break between uploading tracks, that's a new tape.

someone upthread said that a friend had actual physical tapes from aphex twin and that the names matched those. so perhaps they exist as physical tapes. (one of the ones i heard this morning sounded like the tape had been mangled somewhere along the way)
― koogs, Wednesday, 4 February 2015 14:12 (nine years ago) link
"I'm facebook friends with Manny from Citinite/Optigram and when these soundcloud posts started showing up, he posted some cassette J-cards Richard made for him in 1990 with a lot of the same track names.

with one or two glaring exceptions I've not heard much that was screaming to be released.
At the same time, had any of this been released, I don't think we'd have complained.
Now I know how it must feel to be RDJ, looking at these hours and hours of tracks and thinking, huh, wtf do I do with all of this stuff? I'm not sure I even want to download the new things, having finally organized that last epic burst. I might just wait for the dust to settle first. Assuming it ever does.
― Josh in Chicago, Wednesday, 4 February 2015 14:21 (nine years ago) link
Really nice live version of Heliosphan (with added acid) uploaded this morning.
― groovypanda, Wednesday, 4 February 2015 14:23 (nine years ago) link
interesting tidbit i found when looking at some of the files, many of them are encoded by "SoundJam v2.5.3" which is the iTunes precursor from 2001
― diamonddave85 (diamonddave85), Wednesday, 4 February 2015 16:27 (nine years ago) link
The only thing better than uploading all these would be if someone organized and annotated all of them, I have no idea where to start.
