Anticipating SYRO the new (2014) album by Aphex Twin

Debating whether or not I can justify being a little annoyed that after spending forever tagging and numbering and arranging all those tracks, the 320 versions appears and I have to do it again. Leaning ... not justified.

I've left the filenames unchanged, but tags are as follows.
Artist: AFX (it's the hashtag he added to nearly every track and I thought it unnecessary to make exceptions for the couple of aphex/pbod/... ones).

Track number: Order they were uploaded
Title: As on Soundcloud (so sometimes different from the file name)

I also added his comments and embedded the artwork for each track.

So this has been a fascinating exercise in what really makes an Aphex Twin album. I guess it's possible/probable that each officially released collection really has been just that: a selection of tracks he simply decided to collect together at that given moment before moving on to the next thing. Like, I suppose it's possible SAWII is exactly what it says, and could have easily been twice as long (or totally different) on a different day.

There are very few ( maybe two ) negligible tracks in all this. The rest are terrific. Release of the year so far for me and it may be hard to beat.

I'd like to see someone try to break these up into 'album-sized' chunks based on the era - seems to be a lot of 88-91 stuff on here

only been able to listen to like 10 or so of these so far but they're really good, especially for stuff that's just one in a hundred archive tracks. so far I've enjoyed them more than I have the stuff on the lost Caustic Window LP. listening to "22 Pearls" now, it's more beat-heavy than most of the stuff on SAW 85-92, but absolutely gorgeous, wow

the order he uploaded them in is loosely chronological, SAW 85-92ish stuff in the beginning, ICBYD stuff in the middle, drill n bass later on

4 bit is banging as fuck. the bass timbres, contours, shapes (etc.) on Syro are in a league of their own.. is there anybody else out there using FM synthesis to such stimulating effect?

I was thinking much the same thing today about that track. It's a remarkable bit of work and no, I don't think there's anyone to touch him.

Where is this in the run? I've listened to the first sixteen or so now (presumably SAW1 and Digeridoo-era) and it's all nice but with one or two glaring exceptions I've not heard much that was screaming to be released.
