I was supposed to put Neneh Cherry album in my top 10, but looks like I accidentally forgot to include it in the list altogether... Which means none of my albums placed. :(

Tuomas, Thursday, 29 January 2015 22:04 (nine years ago) link

i was relieved to see that the albums i was most disappointed about not placing weren't that near the 77. 78-80 is just frustrating

lex pretend, Thursday, 29 January 2015 22:05 (nine years ago) link

Since he got shut out of both tracks and albums, I implore everyone to listen to Flying Lotus' "Never Catch Me" f/ Kendrick Lamar, the video for which is easily my favorite piece of art made in 2014.

So every album w/ 10+ votes made the top 77. The only two with 9 votes that did not were Arca & ISM. The spread of points among the 9-vote albums is interesting. Lots of people must have only liked ISM a little.

Rank Name Score Votes
49 Gigi Masin - Talk To The Sea 323 9
73 Real Estate - Atlas 254 9
80 Arca - Xen 216 9
162 Ibibio Sound Machine - Ibibio Sound Machine 123 9

I think most people feel discouraged from voting for jazz releases, I mean you know it is likely to be a lone vote. The variation between jazz lists is far more wider than others and more likely to feature one vote no. 1's.

xelab, Thursday, 29 January 2015 23:07 (nine years ago) link

Personally, I love jazz, but for whatever reason when I explore it I'm digging into older albums.

RAP GAME SHANI DAVIS (Raymond Cummings), Thursday, 29 January 2015 23:10 (nine years ago) link

The genre info far from complete - albums that aren't on Spotify don't contribute, and it looks like jazz is split over a couple of different genres like "contemporary jazz" and "modern free jazz".
