lol ok
i feel like walking around with no shirt on is the ultimate male privilege
equality now!

groundless round (La Lechera), Friday, 23 January 2015 22:00 (nine years ago) link

I think many men would not have a problem seeing topless ladies in public for free tbh

Mistah FAAB (sarahell), Friday, 23 January 2015 22:02 (nine years ago) link

yeah that's true but i just get envious sometimes
then i feel disgusted when i think about anyone seeing me and it pisses me off because i have to see topless men all the time in the summer

It would certainly do a lot to normalize women's bodies if god's great diversity of boobage was regularly on display.

That Breastnest looks like an awesome alternative to Decent Exposures.

yes! that's how i feel whenever i go to a women's-only spa/sauna

i need to buy a pretty nursing bra asap. the two i have are fine but so plain. i miss my pretty bras.

obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Sunday, 1 February 2015 15:10 (nine years ago) link

I went looking for nursing bras today, to no avail. Living in 'sleep bras' atm WHICH IS IRONIC, RIGHT GUYS

kinder, Sunday, 1 February 2015 23:53 (nine years ago) link

I'm finally done pumping and wore a regular underwire for the first time in a loooong time on Thursday and it was weird.

about a dozen duck supporters (carl agatha), Monday, 2 February 2015 00:37 (nine years ago) link

two weeks pass...

bought and wore my first strapless bra to a semi-formal thingy & it worked super awesome! stayed up & i didn't have to hitch one time the whole night.
it comes with removable straps and I was travelling so I ended up having to wear the same bra the next day.

for 'traction' I guess, it has rubber stripping inside it, around the band top and bottom.
I felt the bra starting to dig just behind the underwire by mid afternoon, and by the time I took it off that night it was def hurting but I was too tired to investigate

today after showering I noticed red marks in those spots where the bra had started hurting...part of the rubber had rubbed the skin completely raw :(

soooo the moral of the story is that this is a super awesome bra to wear for maybe 5 hours at a time. great job everybody.

i feel like i have so many 5 hour bras

Mistah FAAB (sarahell), Sunday, 22 February 2015 17:45 (nine years ago) link

I need new bras but I'm not sure whether my size is going to change now that I'm down to nursing once/day. My nursing bras are all shot to shit, my regular underwire bras are too small in the cup (they cause the dreaded quad boob!). I don't know man. I really just want two or three work-at-home bras but I can't even find those in my size (most "leisure bras" top out at a G cup, if that, and I'm something closer to an I).

Sigh. The eternal frustration indeed.

from batman to balloon dog (carl agatha), Sunday, 22 February 2015 18:10 (nine years ago) link

it all just sucks
even at the plus size stores they seem to display tons of "average" C cup sizes but once you're looking for anything bigger than D there's hardly anything idgi

bras are the worst

difficult-difficult lemon-difficult (VegemiteGrrl), Sunday, 22 February 2015 19:06 (nine years ago) link

I kept thinking and thinking about the breastnest and finally got one. It is totally great, so comfortable. Better than any leisure bra I've ever owned.

Jaq, Sunday, 22 February 2015 20:01 (nine years ago) link

Oh great! I love it for sleeping/extreme lounging.

from batman to balloon dog (carl agatha), Sunday, 22 February 2015 20:54 (nine years ago) link

It is perfect for a lazing around weekend day - kitchen puttering etc.

one month passes...

Vasquez fron Aliens has a pair (lol) of bra boutiques in the Los Angeles area.

omg after searching for too long for new bras for my post-baby boobs, and continuing to wear a couple of my too-small bras (i quit with the nursing bras a while ago), i finally found two great ones yesterday - Walcoal, not ugly but not gorgeous either, not ultra-stupid-padded, and on super sale at a department store.
It's basically a miracle.

Wacoal i mean obv

obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Thursday, 23 June 2016 13:32 (seven years ago) link

i love wacoal

Flamenco Drop (VegemiteGrrl), Thursday, 23 June 2016 14:24 (seven years ago) link

i really can't stand wearing underwire bras this summer. it's too fucking hot. anyone recommend bralettes or softcup bras that have a enough coverage for big boobs? i don't really care about having a lot of support, just something to wear under a top so they're not flopping round willy-nilly.

just1n3, Friday, 24 June 2016 23:48 (seven years ago) link

there are ads in the subway for strapless backless bras

is that feasible

mookieproof, Saturday, 25 June 2016 00:01 (seven years ago) link

Not with my boobs, that's for sure

mom tossed in kimchee (quincie), Saturday, 25 June 2016 00:05 (seven years ago) link

they generally don't make those bras in big sizes - they rely on adhesive, mookie! the more boob-weight you have sitting in them, the less likely they are to hold up.

just1n3, Saturday, 25 June 2016 00:08 (seven years ago) link

i wore one with my wedding dress, and it was a terrifying experience

just1n3, Saturday, 25 June 2016 00:09 (seven years ago) link

There's also something this:

But I'm guessing that's not what's being advertised on the subway.

There's the panties equivalent of the strapless backless bra and NO THANK YOU

was hoping magnets were involved, but thanks for the wisdom

mookieproof, Saturday, 25 June 2016 02:11 (seven years ago) link

omg those panties!

"here's a fabric spatula. go ahead"

Flamenco Drop (VegemiteGrrl), Saturday, 25 June 2016 06:35 (seven years ago) link

I'm glad magnets don't keep those attached.

tokyo rosemary, Sunday, 26 June 2016 15:01 (seven years ago) link

do any of you have recs for a strapless bra that's actually comfortable?

Benson and the Jets (ENBB), Tuesday, 28 June 2016 14:13 (seven years ago) link

i have small tits

Benson and the Jets (ENBB), Tuesday, 28 June 2016 14:13 (seven years ago) link

well not tiny but i'm don't need something that can hold up really big ones or anything. just one that feels like it's going to stay put

Benson and the Jets (ENBB), Tuesday, 28 June 2016 14:14 (seven years ago) link

one month passes...

i purchased a playtex front closure bra

it's p comfortable to wear once i get it on but holy jesus trying to put it on is like wrestling with a cop-movie shoulder-holster crossed with a lifevest

Flamenco Drop (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 15 August 2016 23:31 (seven years ago) link

Hahahaa
This is bringing back vivid memories that have forever informed my decision to never buy another front closure bra

obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Tuesday, 16 August 2016 00:38 (seven years ago) link

I do not trust front closure bras, bc they always seem to be plastic and flimsy

Fayreform is my new favorite bra brand.

just1n3, Tuesday, 16 August 2016 02:36 (seven years ago) link

this one has an interlocking metal closure, very sturdy, safe as houses lemme tell ya

Flamenco Drop (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 16 August 2016 02:44 (seven years ago) link

I had some unfortunate experiences with front closures in high school. But maybe bra technology has improved in the past 25 years.

tokyo rosemary, Monday, 22 August 2016 15:28 (seven years ago) link

I wish there were regular improvements in bra technology, but I haven't noticed any in the last 20 years, unless making 95% of bras those thick rigid ones constitutes some kind of super advancement which I'm missing out on because I hate the feel of them

Impossible future bra technology wishlist:
- underwiring that does not snap, burst free of its tunnel and stab me, wear through the fabric and chafe my flesh, etc.
- bras that do not, after approx 6 months of light-to-moderate wear, suddenly give up on offering any support whatsoever

...not in my lifetime, I guess. I have a nice bra which did the underwire eruption thing after not very many wears at all - the end tip got all bent out of shape so I can't put it back in - and I haven't brought myself to throw the thing out yet because I miss you, bra.

a passing spacecadet, Monday, 22 August 2016 15:45 (seven years ago) link

ten months pass...

update on the front closing 'safe as houses' bra -- those shits lasted 2 months tops and then the closures started twisting around and digging into me and I ditched those things right quick

i have now ventured into the world of wire-free bras ... got 2 playtex 18-hour jobs for $40 at the outlet store so we'll see. I have had so many wires go bung lately I'm willing to dance with the devil.

Yoni Loves Chocha (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 30 June 2017 20:41 (six years ago) link

but it is still eternally infuriating that almost every new brand of bra is a different size for me. I've got everything from c to dd in my drawer at home, it's nonsensical

Yoni Loves Chocha (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 30 June 2017 20:42 (six years ago) link

I've got everything from c to dd in my drawer at home, it's nonsensical

omg, same here - seriously, wtf is wrong with these bra people!

sarahell, Friday, 30 June 2017 20:49 (six years ago) link

por exemplar: the one I bought today is a B cup!
I haven't had a b since high school

it's insane that you basically need to have a fitting any time you need to buy ~a~ bra that's not the same as the one you wear

Yoni Loves Chocha (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 30 June 2017 20:55 (six years ago) link

I had some B cups I'd wear in my 20s, because I read somewhere that if you wear a one-smaller cup size, it can give you this sexy overflowing cleavage look, also push boobs closer together.

sarahell, Friday, 30 June 2017 20:58 (six years ago) link

lol #protip

Yoni Loves Chocha (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 30 June 2017 21:02 (six years ago) link

also they have a wider variety of cute patterns and decoration -- I guess I'm glad I'm no longer a B cup, and in the white/beige/black size range -- otherwise I'd buy more bras because they were cute.

sarahell, Friday, 30 June 2017 21:06 (six years ago) link

truth

Yoni Loves Chocha (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 30 June 2017 21:11 (six years ago) link

I guess the industry thinks that women our size are all dowdy moms that have no desire for bras with colorful polka dots or red lacy skulls embroidered on the cups.

sarahell, Friday, 30 June 2017 21:38 (six years ago) link

even just a few bright jewel colors would be cool

Yoni Loves Chocha (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 30 June 2017 21:48 (six years ago) link

this whole thing -- esp the sizing stupidity -- makes me think this would not happen if it was a product for men
