I thought the lebron shove was nbd but looking at it again...

yeah i don't want to read too much into it but a player doesn't do that to a coach he has even an ounce of respect for
― J0rdan S., Wednesday, 14 January 2015 06:19 (nine years ago) link
it's the look blatt gives him that clarifies the situation. it's the look of a kid who can't win the argument.

latest a lebron team has been under .500 since his rookie year
― Clay, Wednesday, 14 January 2015 07:04 (nine years ago) link
yeah I totally disagree, teams bench their whole starting lineup sometimes when the bench makes a run
― Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, January 14, 2015 12:08 AM (6 hours ago) Bookmark Flag Post Permalink
benching a whole unit is another thing entirely. when you single one guy out (even if he's -20 for the game), after you've been having public issues with him, you're just asking for trouble.

read somewhere regardless where he signs hes gonna opt out this year, sign for one year, then sign his long term contract the next year to take advantage of the predicted higher salary ceiling - we cld be looking at two straight years of kevin love contract drama
― lag∞n, Wednesday, 14 January 2015 14:27 (nine years ago) link
seems like we know a little more which role is best for him, primary scorer on a team with a crisp offense and good defenders who can make up for his weaknesses on that end, he needs his plays called and gets a lil lost if hes just hanging around hoping someone gives him the ball
― lag∞n, Wednesday, 14 January 2015 14:31 (nine years ago) link
which makes sense as hes not a ball handler who can create his own shots or a specialist who can just stay in his zone or an athletic freak who can make something out of nothing

man got to fire that blatt

this is interesting.... i guess he's pretty much guaranteed to get a max in 16 if the did this but if this season goes really south for him he better make sure he finds a good situation for himself next year if he really wants to go one and done again
― J0rdan S., Wednesday, 14 January 2015 14:43 (nine years ago) link
it seems like some teams weren't sold on him even before this season, now this one has been a disaster for him basically, and then if he goes to another situation next year and it turns out like this.... i dunno it's not a huge risk but it's a risk
― J0rdan S., Wednesday, 14 January 2015 14:44 (nine years ago) link
it's getting harder to sell him for superstar bucks, that's for sure
― Nhex, Wednesday, 14 January 2015 14:45 (nine years ago) link
the only risk is injury imo someone will max him out regardless, theres gonna be so much money flying around when the cap goes up, even without the cap raise tho hes a guaranteed max imo
― lag∞n, Wednesday, 14 January 2015 14:47 (nine years ago) link
yeah i'm with you
but what if the only teams willing to max him out in 16 are the knicks and the lakers
― J0rdan S., Wednesday, 14 January 2015 14:48 (nine years ago) link
that wld be sad 4 him lol, dont see it happening tho
― lag∞n, Wednesday, 14 January 2015 14:48 (nine years ago) link

i'm interested in miami vs. cleveland and what they did/are doing on offense. i don't recall miami running a super structured offense and it worked ok. but it's a disaster for cleveland. is this just the skill level of thin bron/love/irving vs. huge bron/wade/bosh? less basketball IQ on cleveland? kevin love's complete inability to freelance? it's weird.

there was a lot of room to create in it which makes sense cause of their personnel but it was idk if structured is the right word but def very designed to use use players in a certain way and all three of the big three changed their games a lot in miami to fit in with each other and the offense

Even so, at what price? Within the NBA, officials expected maybe $10 million a year, perhaps $12 million if Klutch wanted to push it. Well, they kept pushing it. Thompson turned down a $13-million-a-year extension offer – four-year, $52 million, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

Whatever James' agenda on the coaching front, there were those who believed they had it pegged back in the summer. It was no accident Mark Jackson left one of the most powerful agents in basketball to become a client of Paul. Paul had no coaching clients, but immense leverage within the Cavaliers. To hear Jackson overpraising James and the team's talent on television – even defending James on giving Blatt a tepid public endorsement – delivers light in itself to this alliance.
Before James signed as a free agent, the Cavaliers management wanted nothing to do with Jackson as a coach. They did their research and had their answers. Now, they understand the reality: If James won't play for the coach, what choice do they have there? James wouldn't be left to pay the buyout on Blatt's contract, nor the luxury tax on Thompson's extension. It'll simply be Klutch Sports gathering the commissions on Jackson's and Thompson's deals.
this is a GREAT conspiracy theory
i love it
