Yes, I'm disappointed in my typing skills. "There is nothing..."...

Oh my..., Tuesday, 13 January 2004 04:30 (twenty years ago) link

You do know that in ten years time ICP will be the new Black Sabbath - critcally heralded over all the prog hop acts like Missy, Clipse, etc for their influence over millions of awkward teens who went on to...........

Jedmond, Tuesday, 13 January 2004 07:08 (twenty years ago) link

Why, was somebody from ICP shot or arrested?

Ian Christe (Ian Christe), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 07:26 (twenty years ago) link

Ah yes, ICP put out a fatwah on Mark Dancey because he did an incredibly wicked cartoon satire on them called "Down with Clowns" in Spin magazine

!!

A "fatwah"!!

Damn, my secret identity as a fourteen-year-old mall goth has been discovered. Whatever shall I do.

Lynskey (Lynskey), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 15:24 (twenty years ago) link

Even at my most high I've never found this group's material funny. I actually saw 'em in concert for free once as a teen and remember them putting my friend in a headlock and pouring Faygo cola over his head and thinking "dude these guys are like rap Galagher, except without the rollerskates".

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 15:26 (twenty years ago) link

these guys are like rap Galagher

Bbbbut you say that like it's a bad thing!!

My personal favorite ICP memory is one time I was going to a club in downtown minneapolis. To get there, I had to walk by the Target Center, in which there was a Jimmy Buffet concert taking place that night. At the same time, a block away, there was an ICP concert taking place at The Quest (formerly Prince's Glam Slam).....anyway, The Quest is right across the street from The Pickled Parrot which is a "tropical" themed sports bar which had a outside party to honor the Buffet show....This lead to a very funny stare-down across the street between the Juggalos and the Parrotheads...I almost expected the Beat It video to break out at any moment....Also funny for when I overheard a middle-aged dork with a stupid Parrot hat thingy and a hideous garish Hawaiin shirt refer to how he didn't know how those "freaks" (The Juggalos) could "dress like that"....I was thinking "Dude, have you looked in the mirror? At least the Juggalos had the excuse of being 16!

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 15:52 (twenty years ago) link

That kinda reminds me of the time I saw Ween here in Lexington and on the exact same night in the other theater (in the same building, mind) was a drag queen awards ceremony. Drag queens and Ween fans. I was actually amazed at how well it worked.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 15:54 (twenty years ago) link

I could see them getting along fine....doesn't Ween get kind of a wierd mix of punks and Phish type people?

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 15:56 (twenty years ago) link

Yeah totally. Also a surprisingly large number of the homosexual men.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 13 January 2004 16:27 (twenty years ago) link

I went to Shane MacGowan from the Pogues and he had a very strangely diverse set of people as well....tweedy folk music types to punks to hippies to indie dorks like meself to regular joe college party down types.

Mark (MarkR), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 16:55 (twenty years ago) link

You mean the sixth, and that came out (that was the Wraith one that I never got around to buying because I thought that "Homies" sucked ass).

Fun fact.... I play a music critic in this:

This thread returns all the time, so I thought I'd finally click on it and see what the ruckus is all about. That's all.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Monday, 11 October 2004 06:51 (nineteen years ago) link

There is a long following behind the clowns, if you are not a Juggalo, then you wouldn't understand. I am not surprised that there are topics saying "Any Juggalos here" or I am sure this one "Any Juggalos in the haugh?" I am sure you have seen that one. there are different types of Juggalos too... there are the woot woot juggalos and then there are those that feel the music to heart and are not so outspoken because we think the other Juggalos give us a bad name, that is the type of Juggalo I am. I will argue point with you whereas others are like, "fxck off bxtch!" and you can see the difference there I am sure.

Saint D. Mac (Saint D. Mac), Monday, 11 October 2004 07:03 (nineteen years ago) link

Your syntax is truly dazzling. Head spinning, even.

AaronHz (AaronHz), Monday, 11 October 2004 07:07 (nineteen years ago) link

"there are the woot woot juggalos"

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Monday, 11 October 2004 07:15 (nineteen years ago) link

I since sarcasm here but you have no idea how much of a following there really is... and more often than not the poeple who reply to these things are the type of juggalos that I do not associate with.

As far as woot woot juggalos go, it's kinda like I said, if you are not a juggalo, it is hard to understand such topics. A lot of juggalos will see each other and go, "what up ninja?" and then the other will say, "Woot! Woot!" and that in itself is a long story.

Saint D. Mac (Saint D. Mac), Monday, 11 October 2004 07:18 (nineteen years ago) link

i want to hear the story

pete b. (pete b.), Monday, 11 October 2004 07:19 (nineteen years ago) link

I also would like to hear this story. In a very real and heartfelt way.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Monday, 11 October 2004 07:21 (nineteen years ago) link

Basically, Juggalos also call each other ninjas... and you hear, woot woot said in songs a lot when a point is made or when they are having fun.... it's very hard to explain. You would have to listen to some of the music to fully understand, or even really try to, but this breaks down the difference perfectly when I refer to someone as a "woot woot juggalo" and anyone who listens to them will know that they are the more roudy outspoken (and often times stupid) listeners that don't think before they do things like spray paint walls (really, who does that anymore?) and they are the ones that giove us a bad name.

Saint D. Mac (Saint D. Mac), Monday, 11 October 2004 07:26 (nineteen years ago) link

So now you're hating on graf art, a cornerstone of hip-hop culture?
(/The Source Zealotry)

AaronHz (AaronHz), Monday, 11 October 2004 07:28 (nineteen years ago) link

Funny mention to "hatin" on hip hop because the clowns were actually accused of ripping off black culture because they rap. people will come up with anything to try to hurt people won't they.

Saint D. Mac (Saint D. Mac), Monday, 11 October 2004 07:30 (nineteen years ago) link

Well they did, and they are.

AaronHz (AaronHz), Monday, 11 October 2004 07:31 (nineteen years ago) link

How? That is my question to you aaron?

How are they ripping off black culture?

Saint D. Mac (Saint D. Mac), Monday, 11 October 2004 07:34 (nineteen years ago) link

That is my question to you aaron?

Is it or isn't it? You tell me, I'm not a mind reader.

AaronHz (AaronHz), Monday, 11 October 2004 07:38 (nineteen years ago) link

It wasn't supposed to have a ????? That is my question... you made the statement, so back it up, if you can. Or is that your opinion on the matter, in which case I still would like to know why you feel that way.

Saint D. Mac (Saint D. Mac), Monday, 11 October 2004 08:39 (nineteen years ago) link

ESL? If you're hoping for a serious discussion of ICP you've come to the wrong place, my boy. Unless Dan Perry shows up, maybe.

AaronHz (AaronHz), Monday, 11 October 2004 09:21 (nineteen years ago) link

where is a serious juggalo, who really aims spraypaint???

You've Got to Pick Up Every Stitch (tracerhand), Monday, 11 October 2004 14:14 (nineteen years ago) link

I got to interview ICP at last year's E3....they were nice guys...Violent J is really a big dude...

they smelled like some pretty strong weed.

they like playing Tony Hawks Pro Skater series alot.

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Monday, 11 October 2004 17:19 (nineteen years ago) link

Matt, I read that. I was surprised by how coherent they were.

adam (adam), Monday, 11 October 2004 17:25 (nineteen years ago) link

Basically, Juggalos also call each other ninjas... and you hear, woot woot said in songs a lot when a point is made or when they are having fun.... it's very hard to explain.

g--ff (gcannon), Monday, 11 October 2004 17:49 (nineteen years ago) link

yeah they seemed like pretty smart, regular dudes....Violent's a little more "on the ball" than Shaggy...he seems to be the Alpha Clown....but they were personable and funny....Also, it's quite possible that Shaggy was just more stoned than Violent, which was why he was quieter....

I interviewed Tera Patrick that same afternoon....Her husband is the singer from Biohazard...he was kinda wierd...he kept talking about her like she wasn't in the room...referring to her as "Tera Patrick" right in front of her....he gave me his business card...it has a naked picture of her on it.

she didn't seem to know much about video games.
