I used to like Craig Kilborn almost in spite of myself. His old school skeezy Hollywood persona was really refreshing when Conan would get so obnoxiously nice and self-deprecating.

"I've always found Martha Stewart sexy in a creepy mom-down-the-street-in-whose-basement-you-found-bondage-gear-that-one-time way."

Thank God, I am not alone.

Jeff Foxworthy (but the other red-state redneck "comedians" must die NOW, as must Comedy Central's programmers)
Condoleeza Rice...she's wearing fabulous clothes all of a sudden, she just hinted that she's a "libertarian" on abortion, and she's never baked cookies or done anything else girly to try to soften her image.

I like Mathew Wright, and I like The Wright Stuff.

Cathy (Cathy), Tuesday, 15 March 2005 13:19 (nineteen years ago) link

I love The Wright Stuff. It's the only current affairs talky show that isn't pathetically snobbish and "highbrow" (ugh) (hello, Question Time)

Huey (Huey), Tuesday, 15 March 2005 13:25 (nineteen years ago) link

(Plus, Matthew Wright's face is the face of a giant baby.)

Is this statement based on a true story?

I think you should take this offboard.

Did you mean:

I don't think there are current affairs programmes that are snobbish and highbrow enough.

Maroon Five!

This! Love! Won't... vkjshgfhsklasklakhkjshg SHE SAIIIID! GOOD-BAAAAY! A thousand times befooooo-ooorreee - OH WOAAH etc etc.

Maroon Five are a lot catchier and better than I'd like to admit, and they're the kind of teenypopper I'd actually actively encourage the present-day teen set to get into. Their music reminds me of Culture Club's, actually, and I really like Culture Club (yes, cue laughter now), so, well, yeah. You OTM.

My list:

Dr. Phil (except when he's practicing nepotism on his show)
FRANZ FERDINAND (er, well, as far as ILXville is concerned)
Coldplay (inc. Chris Martin)
Gwyneth Paltrow (seconding or thirding, and BION)
Fran Healy (again, as far as ILXville is concerned)
Kelly Ripa (c'mon, she's brighter than Regis and Kathie Lee combined)
David Arquette (have seen him in films where he shows he *can* act)
Robin Williams (thirding or fourthing him)

That's all I can think of right now.

Surreal Addiction (Dee the Lurker), Wednesday, 16 March 2005 06:51 (nineteen years ago) link

I agree with you entirely. Well, not entirely. Excepting Dr. Phil & Coldplay the rest of your list is pretty spot on okay. They're a collection of not-exactly-liked, but not-terribly-annoying people, IMHO.
