Frobisher, Saturday, 13 December 2014 01:49 (nine years ago) link

i made a mistake i read from the wrong list

Cosmic Slop, Saturday, 13 December 2014 01:51 (nine years ago) link

lol I thought you were trolling to get people worried about their fav albums

I don't know what any of these albums sound like but the cover art is A+ across the board. Ok, maybe not Autopsy but.

death in Skegness (seandalai), Saturday, 13 December 2014 01:53 (nine years ago) link

Sweet, I voted for Death Penalty and I think Seven That Spells made my ballot.

nice, glad it made it in. TOO LOW!

Frobisher, Saturday, 13 December 2014 02:02 (nine years ago) link

it fills my heart with joy that bodycount have released an album in 2014

everyday sheeple (Michael B), Saturday, 13 December 2014 02:03 (nine years ago) link

Slop, you should give up sleeping and keep releasin'.

Frobisher, Saturday, 13 December 2014 02:10 (nine years ago) link

Not quite as controversial as their first :)
xp

Cosmic Slop, Saturday, 13 December 2014 02:10 (nine years ago) link

hah. To think how far metal has come in extremity since the 80s...

Frobisher, Saturday, 13 December 2014 02:13 (nine years ago) link

autopsy is decent imo. voted for it but mostly because autopsy coasting is still enjoyable enough.

original bgm, Saturday, 13 December 2014 02:17 (nine years ago) link

body count album is hilarious, grandpa ice-t telling people to get a job

original bgm, Saturday, 13 December 2014 02:18 (nine years ago) link

That Body Count record is great fun.

Siegbran, Saturday, 13 December 2014 02:20 (nine years ago) link

eh, plenty of goregrind is topping them these days, they aren't bad by any standard but should recognize they represent an older aspect of the genre and perhaps focus putting out their older, previously unreleased material like they did in the early 2000's.

Frobisher, Saturday, 13 December 2014 02:22 (nine years ago) link

^^ re: Autopsy

Frobisher, Saturday, 13 December 2014 02:22 (nine years ago) link

History has moved on, Ice T's now complaining about helpdesks in India, vegetarians disliking his choice of grilled meat, and his Xbox, whereas it all used to be about inner city violence.

Siegbran, Saturday, 13 December 2014 02:23 (nine years ago) link

lol, sounds like a modern Sinbad stand-up routine.

Frobisher, Saturday, 13 December 2014 02:31 (nine years ago) link

hated the Body Count album, especially the updated version of Institutionalised, which completely missed the point (and was borderline racist).

charlie h, Saturday, 13 December 2014 02:46 (nine years ago) link

cosmic dead cover looks super trippy

Mordy, Saturday, 13 December 2014 03:01 (nine years ago) link

Body Count album way too low. I knew I should have posted a weighted ballot.

Humorist (horse) (誤訳侮辱), Saturday, 13 December 2014 03:17 (nine years ago) link

Three of my big ones showing up already: Ulaan Markhor, Seven that Spells (my #1), and Cosmic Dead! Awesome!

black metal for black people (Drugs A. Money), Saturday, 13 December 2014 04:21 (nine years ago) link

I had v little hope for 7TS showing up, truth be told

black metal for black people (Drugs A. Money), Saturday, 13 December 2014 04:36 (nine years ago) link

Man, I love how there are already three albums on the list that I've never heard of, yet look right up my alley. Thank you ILM!

Bloody Pelt Found Near the Scene of the Crime (Skrot Montague), Saturday, 13 December 2014 04:37 (nine years ago) link

eh, plenty of goregrind is topping them these days, they aren't bad by any standard but should recognize they represent an older aspect of the genre

imo the strength of the Autopsy album lies in their acceptance of just that. plus the fact it sounds really sick

forgot to vote in this but there are already some records I liked and/or am curious about

cornelius pardew (DJ Mencap), Saturday, 13 December 2014 10:32 (nine years ago) link

will resume in 90 mins or so

When the mood is right that Monarch record is amazing. Best thing they've done.

EZ Snappin, Saturday, 13 December 2014 15:07 (nine years ago) link

Yeah, I love that record. I think I had it around #6 (forgot to save my list).

Magical invocations probably would be that slow.

jmm, Saturday, 13 December 2014 15:19 (nine years ago) link

I still need to buy it. Not bought as much this year due to lack of money. Need to make a profoundlore order soon

Cosmic Slop, Saturday, 13 December 2014 15:21 (nine years ago) link

Ambergris is the only thing I voted for that has placed so far. Curious who gave it the #1. I'm listening to Lantlos now. I listened to it once before and didn't really click with it but I think I'm enjoying it a little better now.

Lol I need to finally listen to Truckfighters. A good friend of mine surprised me by trying to sell me on the song "Desert Cruising"

Ambergris too. The Branca-metal thread is one of my big go-to places for new music reccs these days

...and tbh Im not hating Raspberry Bulbs either after listening a little to their bandcamp.

Is 91 a tie or is there a numbering error?

next up is the album that i thought didn't get in the countdown despite having 3 #1 votes

Cosmic Slop, Saturday, 13 December 2014 15:50 (nine years ago) link

but it got a late #1 so it has 4

Cosmic Slop, Saturday, 13 December 2014 15:50 (nine years ago) link

that's right the next one up has four #1s

Cosmic Slop, Saturday, 13 December 2014 15:51 (nine years ago) link

I love how wonky everything is this year so far

Truckfighters! I'd like to think if everyone listened to it, it would have been on at least 30 ballots ;)

Fastnbulbous, Saturday, 13 December 2014 16:10 (nine years ago) link

thats #90

Cosmic Slop, Saturday, 13 December 2014 16:10 (nine years ago) link

So yeah, obv Truckfighters was my #1. They tour a lot, I highly recommend their live show.

I have not heard A Pregnant Light.

Fastnbulbous, Saturday, 13 December 2014 16:12 (nine years ago) link

dunno them but four #1s means we should all give them a go

Cosmic Slop, Saturday, 13 December 2014 16:18 (nine years ago) link

I'm not a fan.

EZ Snappin, Saturday, 13 December 2014 16:19 (nine years ago) link

I think im expecting ASG style stuff (older shouty ASG)

Cosmic Slop, Saturday, 13 December 2014 16:19 (nine years ago) link

never heard the name in any context at all iirc

songtitles and album art have led me to anticipate a metal version of Xiu Xiu minus the elements that I like about Xiu Xiu

cornelius pardew (DJ Mencap), Saturday, 13 December 2014 16:21 (nine years ago) link

liking it so far i must say. id buy this if i saw it in a shop

Cosmic Slop, Saturday, 13 December 2014 16:26 (nine years ago) link

fuck, this brutal blues ep is killer! half the "psychedelic" seems to consist of vocal echo, but i love the manic repetitions, lazer streak guitars, natural-sounding kit, everything. never liked noxagt half this much.

also, was superstupid to cut alraune's the process of self-immolation from my list at the last minute. devastating album.

I got the Menace Ruine cd in the mail today an early xmas present to myself

Cosmic Slop, Wednesday, 24 December 2014 13:58 (nine years ago) link

yeah, that alraune album is really good

auto focus, Wednesday, 24 December 2014 15:19 (nine years ago) link

haha, just been listening to the longest track on the YOB record - this is basically a straight-up post-rock reboot of Wicked Game, lol @ all you hardcore metalheads

imago, Thursday, 25 December 2014 13:35 (nine years ago) link

so cheesy! aw it's a YOB xmas, said no Satan ever

imago, Thursday, 25 December 2014 13:35 (nine years ago) link

I didn't vote because I am woefully uninformed. Of the top albums, I own or heard these:

76 Myrkur - Myrkur 173 Points, 6 votes
67 AEvangelist - Writhes in the Murk 205 Points, 6 votes
66 Judas Priest - Redeemer of Souls 209 Points, 8 votes
59 Stargazer - A Merging to the Boundless 255 Points, 7 votes
56 Teitanblood - Death 270 Points, 9 votes
51 Midnight - No Mercy for Mayhem 290 Points, 8 votes
50 Nachtmystium - The World We Left Behind 297 Points, 9 votes
42 Eyehategod - Eyehategod 339 Points, 11 votes
26 Swans - To Be Kind 441 Point, 13 votes
8 Scott Walker & SunnO))) - Soused 799 Points, 21 votes, TWO #1s
5 Triptykon - Melana Chasmata 1078 Points, 27 votes FIVE #1's

There is a long list of things I will be purchasing shortly, however...

Loud guitars shit all over "Bette Davis Eyes" (NYCNative), Thursday, 25 December 2014 18:03 (nine years ago) link

imago, you were the first person ever to bring Kayo Dot to my attention; what do you think of Coffins on Io

wince (Drugs A. Money), Thursday, 25 December 2014 22:05 (nine years ago) link

it's really great, a sort of elaboration on (or intensification of) the underrated Coyote; has great tunes and ideas; erases the masturbatory fug of Hubardo somewhat

imago, Friday, 26 December 2014 00:45 (nine years ago) link

still cannot actually credit YOB getting all these plaudits on the basis of that final track but hey-ho, post-rock is a respected genre

imago, Friday, 26 December 2014 00:46 (nine years ago) link

track two tho

Adding ease. Adding wonder. Adding (contenderizer), Friday, 26 December 2014 01:17 (nine years ago) link

"marrow" isn't "wicked game", exactly. it's more like fat bedhead. and i'm okay with that, as post rock is and has long been a respected genre.

DZZZZZZCH you cut your head DZZZZZZCH on the bedside table DZZZZZZCH...

plus you are underestimating the extent of geddy lee.

Adding ease. Adding wonder. Adding (contenderizer), Friday, 26 December 2014 01:25 (nine years ago) link

"marrow" breakdown:

00:00 fat bedhead
04:45 geddy lee
10:45 herb-encrusted loin of isaac
13:50 marinate slowly and see

Adding ease. Adding wonder. Adding (contenderizer), Friday, 26 December 2014 01:43 (nine years ago) link

Might ring in the bells with our #1 album this year. Here's to a good 2015 to everyone!

Cosmic Slop, Wednesday, 31 December 2014 22:00 (nine years ago) link

Hi metal people of ilx,

Voting is currently in progress for the big sitewide EOY poll, and I hope that many of you will submit a ballot! If everyone who voted for the #1 album here also voted for it in the ILM poll, it would come in the top 10 for sure. If for some reason you're not stoked at the idea of sharing your favourite music with the rest of the board, maybe you can consider it a favour in return for my helping out with the metal poll every year.

http://www.ilxor.com/ILX/ThreadSelectedControllerServlet?boardid=41

Vote in the ILM EOY Poll! (seandalai), Wednesday, 14 January 2015 21:25 (nine years ago) link

Pay the man!
