I know I keep going back to this site, but here are good reviews of body moisturizers for dry skin, sorted with the lowest price first.

agh that is overwhelmingi just started using the lanolin so i'll see how it goes.

Aveeno has oatmeal in it which is supposed to be very moisturizing. Also I was just complaining about the time it takes to lotion up earlier today! I HATE IT. I've found a really good sugar scrub that's so moisturizing that I don't have to use lotion if I use that. Otherwise I've been using sweet almond oil. I just hate having to put on lotion after I get out of the shower. That's a good couple mins that I could use drinking coffee dammit!

I bought a bunch of the Paula's Choice Resist products a while back but I didn't like that. I think they were too harsh for my skin. :( Too drying. I've been using some First Aid Beauty and Khiel's stuff that my skin really seems to like.

Lush has a few lotion bars that I like. You apply them right before you leave the shower, then pat yourself dry: http://www.lushusa.com/Buffy/9999902127,en_US,pd.html#start=1
― kate78, Tuesday, 9 December 2014 19:22 (nine years ago) link
what i found works best is an oil/lotion combo. a small amount of almond oil quickly over still wet skin, pat dry, then lotion. i tried out some body shop body butter and it was more moisturizing than i expected - like, in the shower the next day i can feel the difference if i used it the day before or not.

oh, and combined with using a salux cloth to exfoliate first (no soap)
Kate - Yes! I love them but I feel like they're kind of $$ and don't last all that long.

I think Amlactin is pretty great for moisturizing esp around elbows and knees and stuff because it has lactic acid in it and is moisturizer and exfoliator but it straight up smells like urine so you have to be careful.
― Benson and the Jets (ENBB), Tuesday, 9 December 2014 19:31 (nine years ago) link
Lac-Hydrin is the same stuff but smells better.
― kate78, Tuesday, 9 December 2014 20:34 (nine years ago) link
dnw to smell like urine

Weird. Why not?
― carl agatha, Tuesday, 9 December 2014 20:40 (nine years ago) link
i dunno i just kinda think it might be not as fun as it sounds
― vigetable (La Lechera), Tuesday, 9 December 2014 20:46 (nine years ago) link
It fades! It's just the initial smell. The results are pretty great tho.

Mmmm urea. For really dry times, I use Working Hands at night. It's unscented and mostly glycerin and salts that pull moisture from the air into your skin.

Seconding Aveeno. Also, when I sunburnt my face this summer (d'oh) I used it directly on my face and somehow it wasn't too greasy!

My feet are so horrible and cracked right now.
― tokyo rosemary, Tuesday, 6 January 2015 02:32 (nine years ago) link
That sucks. That sounds like it hurts!
Mine are all rough and my socks get hung up on them. I need one of those egg shaped foot grater things, although I'm scared of them.

My feet have been turning into such old lady feet in the past few years.
― tokyo rosemary, Tuesday, 6 January 2015 03:39 (nine years ago) link
Mine, too, but that's because the rest of me is also turning into an old lady. My feet are just coming along for the ride.
I've got a wicked case of plantar fasciitis these days, too, which makes everything that much more miserable.

― kinder, Tuesday, 6 January 2015 12:41 (nine years ago) link
Oh no! My palms got insanely itchy but no peeling.
You should get a pedicure. They are quite nice.

Ulta had exfoliating foot socks and I had a $10 off coupon.
All the pictures online of the shedding feet of those who've used it are so gross I CAN'T WAIT!!

Tonight was the first night anything happened. I soaked my feet in warm water for a bit and when I rubbed them I had lots and lots of little flakes. Maybe I will get the big pieces coming off soon?!?

LL did the liquid lanolin work for you? If not, I use Aquaphor in the white tub with the blue lid on Ivy when her face and hands get really chapped and it works really well. I don't know if I would enjoy putting it all over my face and body, but it's good for particularly dry places.

i bought a tub of cerave heavy duty cream and it was alright but kind of gloopy and expensive. it lasted maybe 2 weeks? i experimented a little and combined coconut oil, apricot oil (it's what i had sitting around, jojoba probably better) and some of the liquid lanolin and added some essential oils and have been using that. it has been working just fine and applies much more smoothly than any of those three things separately.

Exfoliating socks update: what a bust! I bought another set and will try again soon.
― tokyo rosemary, Tuesday, 3 February 2015 15:40 (nine years ago) link
i've been using a tub of the german-made nivea creme as a night creme, which might be giving me blackheads but has stopped all the flakiness/dryness i usually get in winter.

it's so cold that my nose is freezing all the time, and it looks like a clown noseaside from not being so cold or wearing pancake makeup, is there anything that can be done about this? figured it was worth asking. it kinda hurts too :(
― groundless round (La Lechera), Monday, 16 February 2015 15:49 (nine years ago) link
Put this on your nose when you're going outside to stop windburn and additional chapping:

Of course if you don't want a shiny nose, maybe a balaclava. Or one of these things - http://www.backcountry.com/mavic-neck-warmer?ti=UExQIENhdDpCYWxhY2xhdmFzICYgTmVjayBHYWl0ZXJzOjE6MjU6YmNzQ2F0MTMxMTAwMDUy&skid=MAV0519-BK-ONESIZ

:( Warm herbal compresses that reduce redness? Like, idk, chammomile or comfrey and honey made into a spread or something? Actually the idea of warm honey/herb pesto does sound kind of soothing (and delicious).

I do pretty much swear by that Aquaphor stuff, though. Granted, baby skin is incredibly resilient* but Ivy will have capped, almost cracked cheeks one day and two days of Aquaphoring it up at night and before she goes outside and she's back to normal.
*It is hilarious and a little creepy how many people are like, "BABY SKIIINNNNNNNNNNN why can't I have skin like your baaaaaaabyyyyyyyyyyy" probably because I'm the same way.
― about a dozen duck supporters (carl agatha), Monday, 16 February 2015 16:35 (nine years ago) link
capped? Chapped. Chapped cheeks.
ok i'm soldthanks!
you can't have skin like a baby because you're not a baby!! do ppl not understand aging?! it's gonna happen sooner or later no matter what you smear on your face.
