Damn, I put it in my cart for later and came back to find it all greyed out. Looks like each of the albums are available for $6.99 now.

Lessons I should have already learned from ilx like not to dick around when Amazon fucks up the price on something.

This was everything* too--Bonfire, Backtracks, tons of live stuff.

*Well, the single w/the first singer isn't there (not that that was happening).

I wish there was an equivalent of Steam sales for music mp3s. I'd love to stay up late at night waiting for a flash sale of the AC/DC or the Fleetwood Mac or the Sparks catalog. I'd gladly have it set fire to my credit card.

thanks Ned for pointing this out, stoked that I pounced when I did and now, well, I've got 290 mp3s of AC/DC on my hard drive. Now I just need the lifestyle to go with that.

First thing I did was dig through all the boxes and rarities compilations to restore the Australian track listings of the first 4 albums.

so fucking consistently awesome! not just every album is good, they basically don't have hardly any bad songs, like at all, i don't think i've actively disliked a song yet

Vanda/Young are such good rock producers, these records sound so awesome and so tuff, like I can't imagine a better hard rock record sound (obv mutt does well later too)

oh i knew they were great! but i guess i just kinda had the "hits" - dirty deeds, highway to hell, and let there be rock, stuff recycled on who made who.. so there are a lot of great tracks i never heard

Much better albums then people give them credit for. It doesn't last through the Brian years, but a Bon deep cut can be staggeringly good.

"Touch Too Much" is totally a test run for Def Leppard, that chorus and something about how they harmonize it is totally Def Leppard

High and Dry is the great lost 70s AC/DC record. Nowhere near as good, but I do love it.

It was a fuck-up. It happened a few months ago with Metallica, apparently - their entire discography for $15.

That reminds me, did I ever mention that I had an AIM chat in, like, 1995 with someone who claimed to be Phil Rudd of AC/DC? I never knew why anyone would want to impersonate him -- he wasn't trying to pick me up or anything and seemed genuinely interested in whether the younger generation still listened to AC/DC -- so I always wondered if it was actually him.

...did AC/DC management put their albums on sale because they knew phil rudd was about to be charged with murder? do alleged murders negatively affect the sales of a band's albums, anyway?

My conspiracies have more to do with AC/DC - band who refuses to license their songs to anyone, even iTunes - and Metallica - Napster's Y2K Band of the Year - being the "victims" here.

You know when the drummer says "hey, I've written a song" and you go "oh.. oh go on then, let's see the lyrics"
