I feel like his stuff has The Reverend written all over it. I've tried to get him into Shamir a few times but idk if it's clicked yet.

i love this kid & everything i've heard from him.

low key, i was lucky enough to find his soundcloud awhile back and asked him to sing on something of mine, and he actually did. not sure what's going to happen with that exactly but he's just so genuine & generous with his talent.

i like this song but it's a bit suffocating tune-yards cutesy

God, any time I hear NS I think shitty journalistic ethics but also that astoundingly awful review he wrote for "Piracy Funds Terrorism" on p4k that starts out with:

so he is saying 'had an Epiphone, Tonka, Fisher-Price' in 'On the Regular', right? he is saying that because (as he says in the line before) he's loved and played music since he was very young, so there was a guitar in the mix with these other toys. feel like most people posting the video are misinterpreting this line and saying shit 'lol he's talking about toys. so random. fisher-price phone? what?'

way, way too many recycled sounds and structures and motifs; so many parts of songs sounds almost exactly like parts of other songs

sounds really 2005 to me

went to see him last night with relatively low expectations but he put on a good show, surprisingly rousing material, full backing band & he came into the audience at the end to hug ppl. he's a charmer

i know what you're talking about stevie, but i guess it doesn't bother me. there are maybe three tracks i skip but the rest are jams.

the album is growing on me, surprising there aren't more mentions of it on ILM tbh.

It's just OK. The beats are weak imo.

I don't dislike it though.

Seeing him next weekend for free. I enjoyed the one song, but that's all I've heard.

Went to their show at the U Street Music Hall tonight. I was meh on most of the songs, but his energy was good and Head in The Clouds is a total stormer.

Saw this line in an interview: A lot of the producers I was working with felt stuck to making Ratchet 2 or Ratchet Deluxe, which is not what I wanted.

I give him tons of props for rejecting the path that was laid out for him and putting out exactly what he wants, and it's obviously very important to him to go back to DIY in terms of honesty/artifice/presentation.

Is there any precedent for an artist putting out a lo-fi, home-recorded album to follow up a very polished & produced debut?

i mean the song and shamir's vocal performance are excellent but i would like to point out that the woodland camo crop top with the heart on the front is absolutely perfect as well.
