i dunno, i can ask around. they didn't open, they headlined. that was an amazing set tho it was too hottt/stinky for me to stay inside for most of it.

No hot-and-stinky hipster-hippie stew today: it's on the roof.

nabiscothingy, Sunday, 1 May 2005 21:48 (eighteen years ago) link

it wasn't the hinthouse that was hot n' stinky, it was the divey mexican restaurant where the show was at.

hstencil (hstencil), Sunday, 1 May 2005 21:57 (eighteen years ago) link

Yeah yeah but I get the sense that hot-and-stinky is kind of par for the course for gatherings of No-Neck afficionados. Hot and stinky and small children running around.

nabiscothingy, Sunday, 1 May 2005 22:04 (eighteen years ago) link

did anybody go to this?

Roger Fidelity (Roger Fidelity), Sunday, 1 May 2005 22:28 (eighteen years ago) link

nabisco, man, like free your mind from these hurtful stereotypes, man.

half of the "re: mr. a fan" lp is awesome -- plus, it has my favorite fake bootleg cover...

They played here this week but I didn't find out about it until the day after the gig. It was in a nice little church too. Methinks I dropped the ball here.

one year passes...
The following function will return the date (on the Gregorian calendar) for Orthodox Easter (Pascha). Note that incorrect results will be returned for years less than 1601 or greater than 2399. This is because the Julian calendar (from which the Easter date is calculated) deviates from the Gregorian by one day for each century-year that is NOT a leap-year, i.e. the century is divisible by 4 but not by 10. (In the old Julian reckoning, EVERY 4th year was a leap-year.)

This algorithm was first proposed by the mathematician/physicist Gauss. Its complexity derives from the fact that the calculation is based on a combination of solar and lunar calendars.

function getOrthodoxEaster($date){
/*
Takes any Gregorian date and returns the Gregorian
date of Orthodox Easter for that year.
*/
$year = date("Y", $date);
$r1 = $year % 19;
$r2 = $year % 4;
$r3 = $year % 7;
$ra = 19 * $r1 + 16;
$r4 = $ra % 30;
$rb = 2 * $r2 + 4 * $r3 + 6 * $r4;
$r5 = $rb % 7;
$rc = $r4 + $r5;
//Orthodox Easter for this year will fall $rc days after April 3
return strtotime("3 April $year + $rc days");
}

I listened to the NNCK mystery gypped live at ken's electric lake double album the other day and it was a true pleasure . . .

twelve years pass...

sometimes think about the halcyon days of my NNCK worship.

do these guys still play out at all? Pat Murano puts out records on a pretty regular basis (and they're pretty fucking good), but i've been wondering about the band as a whole.
