xp el-p said they were working on one in the late 90s that fell through. Not sure how well he would have fit over the Funcrusher style beats though.

i mean he never was a rapper in any traditional sense. for a dude presumably out of the game a long time, he sounds a lot better than i expected, and objectively solid.

Still puzzled by some of the blowback I saw for his speech on Twitter, even saw a few tweets suggesting they change their names to "Lick The Boots". I guess because Killer Mike owns some property, he's a landlord and not to be trusted? Or is it because his dad's a cop? I don't know.

some ppl were presumably mad that he was not in favor of looting, but it's not like he wasted any breath condemning demonstrators

Kind of perfect timing lyrically with some songs. Walking in the Snow is FIRE. This part is just incredible:

This is really good, might be my favorite RTJ yet. I really like Cochemea Gastelum's tenor sax on the closing track, it does a nice job of linking the record back to some of the more impassioned spiritual jazz of the '70s that is a forefather of this record in a few ways.

funny I think this is my least fave RTJ despite a few great tracks

also every time I hear "Goonies Vs ET" I keep yearning for a takeoff that never quite happens

I'm on my second spin and so far I'm with Simon. It's good and its timing is undeniable but beat-wise El-P's scaled greater heights in the past.

Listening to the album, I assumed he'd recorded the line clean for RTJ; watching the live performance, he's so precise that I'm sure of it.
