ILX preorders SPYRO for Playstation (Sufjan Grafton), Thursday, 25 September 2014 22:40 (nine years ago) link

any self-doubt i ever feel is always washed away by noting who agrees with me and who reacts with hostility. always

lex pretend, Friday, 26 September 2014 15:40 (nine years ago) link

what was the incident(s) that prompted this

nakhchivan, Friday, 26 September 2014 15:42 (nine years ago) link

oh just some minor pavement etiquette stuff while i was out running, the usual cunty swaggering down the pavement trying to physically impose themselves on the public space and not moving an inch to let me past, nearly ended up shoving me into the road and looked flabbergasted that i'd dare call him out

more a culmination of witnessing countless similar behaviours though, physical and psychological, directed at both me and others (p sure every woman you know experiences this a thousand times as much)

lex pretend, Friday, 26 September 2014 15:48 (nine years ago) link

(and that was p minor as far as these things go but i certainly put it on the same spectrum as random public heckling, homophobic or not, which is another thing i make a point of giving back as hard as i get)

lex pretend, Friday, 26 September 2014 15:51 (nine years ago) link

next time just sweep his legs and run off imo

these cunts need to be told tho so well played, might even amend his behaviour next time (i am an optimist)

pretentious over rated bloody old rubbish (imago), Friday, 26 September 2014 15:52 (nine years ago) link

i am not an optimist. i hope he falls into a bus

lex pretend, Friday, 26 September 2014 15:54 (nine years ago) link

that sucks. i'm sorry.

example (crüt), Friday, 26 September 2014 15:54 (nine years ago) link

though i actually re: this type of person i wish less for death and more for humiliation and degradation

lex pretend, Friday, 26 September 2014 15:54 (nine years ago) link

the bus shall impose on his physical space, it shall retain karmatic balance

pretentious over rated bloody old rubbish (imago), Friday, 26 September 2014 15:55 (nine years ago) link

lol the last of my very infrequent irl hardman episodes involved bodychecking someone into the street and swearing at a group of terribly serious middle aged joggers who took up the entire width of the pavement and seemingly expected anyone walking in the opposite direction to step into the street while they passed

nakhchivan, Friday, 26 September 2014 16:00 (nine years ago) link

it always astounds me how many people out there are apparently incapable of being considerate users of pavements

lex pretend, Friday, 26 September 2014 16:10 (nine years ago) link

One time I was on the brooklyn bridge and there was a family of tourists standing in the bike lane taking photos and this bike guy was whizzing down the bridge. Instead of slowing down, he just yells angrily and scoldingly NO! NO!

bozack horseman (Whiney G. Weingarten), Friday, 26 September 2014 16:15 (nine years ago) link

this is me with sidewalk bikers, who are ruining it for the rest of us. i wont budge.

socki (s1ocki), Friday, 26 September 2014 16:16 (nine years ago) link

or fuckers walking in the bike lane

socki (s1ocki), Friday, 26 September 2014 16:16 (nine years ago) link

or cars driving on the sidewalk

LIKE If you are against racism (omar little), Friday, 26 September 2014 16:18 (nine years ago) link

i occasionally commute by bike across the brooklyn bridge and the oblivious tourist stuff gets old real fast

mookieproof, Friday, 26 September 2014 16:24 (nine years ago) link

it's really not hard to be considerate when you are the tourist yourself! standing in a bike lane is just...why would you do that. and i don't cycle, i usually encounter cyclists as the breachers of etiquette (either pavement cyclists or the eternal cyclists vs runners hostility - i once witnessed a cyclist on a towpath plough straight into another runner, knocking her to the ground, and he didn't even acknowledge her let alone apologise)

lex pretend, Friday, 26 September 2014 16:27 (nine years ago) link

i shoulder check screenzombies whenever possible and declare 'that's illegal' to sidewalk bikers

son of a lewd monk (Dr Morbius), Friday, 26 September 2014 16:31 (nine years ago) link

why can't we just all get along

john wahey (NickB), Friday, 26 September 2014 16:35 (nine years ago) link

oops, why can't we just all get a long piece of rope and garotte everybody?

john wahey (NickB), Friday, 26 September 2014 16:35 (nine years ago) link

I really do love bikers for the RIGHTEOUS INDIGNATION they have w/r/t to car drivers combined with the prickish complete lack of courtesy for pedestrians

Cars, bikers, and pedestrians are such assholes when I'm street luging down the mountain.

GhostTunes on my Pono (Sufjan Grafton), Friday, 26 September 2014 16:55 (nine years ago) link

i live in a college neighborhood on a major thoroughfare with nice, clearly marked bike lanes

the hedge in front of my building is pretty bushed out so the sidewalk is artificially narrow

it's about once a week some dipshit kid in pajama bottoms on a creaky mtn bike comes trundling around the corner on the sidewalk, usually when i have my hands full.

my hardman% is pretty low but ONE OF THESE DAYS i swear

goole, Friday, 26 September 2014 20:25 (nine years ago) link

there seems to be a big "walk in the street/bike on the sidwalk" underground movt in minneapolis

u2 removal machine (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Friday, 26 September 2014 20:30 (nine years ago) link

This is confusing; the appropriate response to people that claim too much public space is bodychecking them/ refusing to move/ heckling? These all seem like the overly aggresive behaviors that cause angst in the first place.

badg, Friday, 26 September 2014 20:36 (nine years ago) link

? i am confused

mattresslessness, Friday, 26 September 2014 20:37 (nine years ago) link

son of a lewd monk (Dr Morbius), Friday, 26 September 2014 20:46 (nine years ago) link

I think I've got this beat. More or less every day on my walk from work to the bus stop, I see this late 20s guy riding uphill on an electric toy scooter, on the pavement.

wackness unlimited (snoball), Friday, 26 September 2014 20:50 (nine years ago) link

keep telling myself that one of these days i'm just going to start setting screens on ppl who walk busy city streets while reading/typing on their phones

but i guess i'm not enough of a hardman

mookieproof, Friday, 26 September 2014 20:57 (nine years ago) link

can i lend you some chickenwire? xp

hey badg, the average New Yorker fantasizes about murder at least 20x a day, anything short of that is playing nice.

son of a lewd monk (Dr Morbius), Friday, 26 September 2014 20:58 (nine years ago) link

everyone needs to just listen to that new U2 album and calm down

GhostTunes on my Pono (Sufjan Grafton), Friday, 26 September 2014 20:59 (nine years ago) link

is that addressed to all of U2? cuz Larry seems pretty chill

son of a lewd monk (Dr Morbius), Friday, 26 September 2014 21:02 (nine years ago) link

I ride the subway every day morbz I understand that emotion. Acting on it is bad news I think

Having said that people that hug the pole are the worst

large city + mass transit = encountering many many people daily. a lot of them are gonna be assholes

tbh i am routinely amazed at how well, relatively speaking, it all functions. and nyc transit commuters >>> suburban car commuters everywhere

mookieproof, Friday, 26 September 2014 23:30 (nine years ago) link

two months pass...

Are you disturbed? Someone ban this freak from the thread. You're a piece of work. It was YOU who started this stupid ass discussion. Now you're saying this shit? Slimy m.f.

Goggles on I'm going ALL CAPS. IM PISSED. talk of 'technical virtuoso' is just so DAMN STUPID. With RACIST OVERTONES. Since when does it have any factor on whether you can CREATE GREAT MUSIC.

Were any of the BEATLES virtuoso on their instruments? Obviously NOT. DOES IT MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE? OBVIOUSLY NOT.

Was BLUES MUSIC created using 3 simple chords? YES.

IS QUESTLOVE THE MOST TALENTED DRUMMER IN THE WORLD? IS HE IN THE TOP 500? NOPE. DOES HE UNDERSTAND MUSIC? YES. DOES HE MAKE GREAT MUSIC? YES. IS A VIRTUOSO? NO.

JIMI HAD THE SAME SHIT THROWN AT HIM BY PEOPLE LIKE YOU. WAS JIMI A GUITAR VIRTUOSO? NOPE. IS HE RIGHTLY CONSIDERED ONE OF THE GREATEST GUITAR PLAYERS EVER? YUP.

Can PRINCE play bass like BOOTSY? NO. Can he make BASSLINES funky? OBVIOUSLY YES. DOES IT MATTER? NO.

LIKE SOMEONE SAID UP THREAD, JAMES GADSON FUCKING PLAYED THE SUGAH DADDY BEAT ON HIS THIGH. THOSE ARE HIM SLAPPING HIS THIGH. RECORDED. OH BUT MAYBE HE'S NOT THE BEST THIGH SLAPPER IN THE WORLD, LET'S JUST POINT THAT OUT.

IS HE A VIRTUOSO THIGH PLAYER? NOPE. I'M SURE THERE ARE 100 OR SO VIRTUOSO THIGH SLAPPERS OUT THERE WHO CAN SLAP A THIGH BETTER THAN HE CAN. THEY'VE PROBABLY HAD THAT GIFT SINCE BIRTH. THEY PROBABLY SPENT 30 YEARS SLAPPING THIGHS.

JAMES GADSON ISNT A VIRTUOSO THIGH SLAPPER.

BUT STILLADVANCE IS A VIRTUOSO FOOL.
