when i meet a ~terrible football fan~ these days they are invariably an arsenal supporter, but geordies still take this one.
― oppet, Monday, 15 September 2014 21:35 (nine years ago) link
that said, stoke fans as individuals are probably all to a man awful but they lack the collective terrible identity.

This is a serious convo I had with a Leeds fan about 11 years ago. He says pointing at some ugly concrete new-build flats near the station "You think that in a such an important city they will let Leeds go down?".
I hate most those extra 10000+ that will turn up for the championship playoff final, but not give a flying fuck during a heart-rending campaign, better get the jester hat and the make-up on for the big game [vomit]
― xelab, Monday, 15 September 2014 22:35 (nine years ago) link
Back to the original question, all premiership fans of any club are the worst, it doesn't take long. 2nd clubsy wubsy merchants not exempt.
― xelab, Monday, 15 September 2014 22:53 (nine years ago) link
^this but i will exempt fans of any midlands club
― imago, Monday, 15 September 2014 23:06 (nine years ago) link
southampton too coz of swygart
― imago, Monday, 15 September 2014 23:07 (nine years ago) link
Southamptom must go down as the most premiership quality team to exist in L1 before they got there.
― xelab, Monday, 15 September 2014 23:15 (nine years ago) link
i don't have a problem with newcastle fans ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
― r|t|c, Monday, 15 September 2014 23:21 (nine years ago) link
i usually call this as arsenal fans myself but this is an entirely plausible answer
when i exempted any midlands club i was obviously not referring to birmingham city who are possibly second behind real madrid for world's worst fans/football club. fortunately they're not getting back up any time soon

as i suspected of ilf that is a v limited chelsea experience tho, they take in a very wide subhuman spectrum, the mark is unerring and indelible
would still entertain the case for nukey but mere delusion rly doesn't cut it in comparison
― r|t|c, Tuesday, 16 September 2014 09:52 (nine years ago) link
actually the guy who runs my cricket club is a massive chelsea fan & a decent, friendly sort (as are his kids). he seems like an exception tho
― imago, Tuesday, 16 September 2014 10:04 (nine years ago) link
obv the role of clubs is in flux, fans becoming more or less loathsome in a cyclical system. liverpool fans are currently in the descendancy, with an insufferable sense of worthiness being nurtured under rodgers, the sort of thing that necessitates the existence of mourinho so that he can crush their spirits
not really old enough to judge if it's the time out of the top flight which has rendered leeds fans demented or if they were ever thus

Jack Wilshere, 9 -- Wilshere didn't merely answer back to his critics, this performance was an erudite essay on the art of midfield play. He was superb, rounding off his box-to-box brilliance with an outstanding goal. Deployed as a holding midfielder with England, he showed how much damage he can do in the final third by side-stepping past his man and chipping expertly over Joe Hart. It was a magical moment and could be a significant landmark as Wilshere seeks to get back to his best.

After the final whistle, a group of fans revealed a large banner that read: ‘Arsene, thanks for the memories but it’s time to say goodbye.’
Wenger has been criticised for sticking to his attacking principles when his side’s defensive flaws have been exposed.
But the Arsenal manager rejected that view, saying: ‘I started to manage a team at the top level in 1983; if I am completely useless tactically, I am a genius — I can hide it very well.’

Elliot Rodger Fan3 hours ago Wenger is the most manipulative and snake like human on this planet right now...What hes doing to arsenal fans is a disgrace and he makes a mockery of every normal decent working person by utterly failing at his job over and over...Its not hard for him to fool alcoholics and poorly educated arsenal fans who either believe every spin he gives after crushing defeats or dont care
