the stoner beat takes u on a journey imho
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 9 September 2014 03:13 (nine years ago) link
I'm not 100% on this but I dig old-school West Coast stuff a lot & in addition to Thugger just killin it (killin it!) "Lifestyle's" beat kinda gives me that feel
― nova, Tuesday, 9 September 2014 03:16 (nine years ago) link
"Stoner" completely blew my mind when I first heard it. I thought it was like 5 different rappers.
― The Reverend, Tuesday, 9 September 2014 05:19 (nine years ago) link
He probably kinda goes in on it but honestly the beat's a little dinky (not GIRLY mind it's so un-girly) for my tastes
Actually both the "Stoner"/"Danny Glover" "OMG Thug's bout to blow" singles didn't do it for me while "Lifestyle" is obviously the greatest Rich Gang cut thus far. And I say that as someone who liked a handful of songs on the OG Rich Gang album lol
― nova, Tuesday, 9 September 2014 06:18 (nine years ago) link
"Stoner" is a 100% classic gtfo
― rap steve gadd (D-40), Tuesday, 9 September 2014 06:19 (nine years ago) link
I like "Yeah Yeah" + how he sounds like a drugged-up Drake on the hook
― nova, Tuesday, 9 September 2014 06:31 (nine years ago) link
Lifestyle is arguably rap song of the year so far. And yes, Stoner is def 100% classic gtfoh.
― longneck, Tuesday, 9 September 2014 06:47 (nine years ago) link
"Stoner (GTFO If You Don't Like It Remix)"
― nova, Tuesday, 9 September 2014 06:51 (nine years ago) link
and nah not arguably it 100% is
― nova, Tuesday, 9 September 2014 06:52 (nine years ago) link
"Lifestyle" doesn't really do anything for me tbh
― The Reverend, Tuesday, 9 September 2014 08:20 (nine years ago) link
Thanking whoever put together Straye Thugs - great comp!

― 龜, Tuesday, 9 September 2014 12:04 (nine years ago) link
was wondering what lagoon thought of Curtains, Picacho, and 2 Cups
― rob, Tuesday, 9 September 2014 12:08 (nine years ago) link
I assume the scope of the comp was limited to more recent stuff
― Number None, Tuesday, 9 September 2014 12:20 (nine years ago) link
love all of 1017 thug classic album imho
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 9 September 2014 12:48 (nine years ago) link
theres a no drops vers out there which is def worthwhile fwiw, never got into any of the i came from nothings really def some cool moments on there but his style feels pretty nascent and the wayne jocking kinda jumps out at u
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 9 September 2014 13:12 (nine years ago) link
1017 Thug is def. not classic but it is good & yeah the birth of current-day Thugga far as I can tell
― nova, Tuesday, 9 September 2014 14:56 (nine years ago) link
100% CLASSIC EVERY SONG IS GOOD AND THERE ARE LOTS OF DIFFERENT TYPES OF SONGS AND THEY COMPLIMENT EACH OTHER
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 9 September 2014 15:02 (nine years ago) link
only complaint is it wouldve been cooler to have some pro space age mastering its almost completely mid range free and thuggers voice can get kinda buzzy and irritating when its expressed just through that tinny high end
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 9 September 2014 15:05 (nine years ago) link
well at least you didn't tell me to gtfo although the caps did make me feel a certain type of way
― nova, Tuesday, 9 September 2014 15:05 (nine years ago) link
1017 def has skippable moments ... 2nd "I came from nothing" is great btw
― rap steve gadd (D-40), Tuesday, 9 September 2014 15:08 (nine years ago) link
lol u may stay xp
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 9 September 2014 15:08 (nine years ago) link
feel like albums masquerading as mix tapes are the best possible form cause theyre hardcore and dont have to have drake on them only it'd be cool if the sound qual was better and its def very good when a no drops vers is available for sale
one cool thing abt 1017 is how he has some reggae styles on there and it sounds natural and good not like hes trying to affect a patois or w/e
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 9 September 2014 15:14 (nine years ago) link
1017 and La ThuggA're both great and stand up to/reward a LOT of listening ime

Seeing Young Thug tonight, and wishing very badly I had more friends who were willing to go to a rap club to see a midnight performance on a Monday night

― lag∞n, Monday, 29 September 2014 22:12 (nine years ago) link
This might be the best Thug project of the year. Definitely raises his 2014 slugging percentage
― Evan R, Monday, 29 September 2014 22:37 (nine years ago) link
Birdman sounds gooooooood
― Evan R, Monday, 29 September 2014 22:38 (nine years ago) link
rich homie quan been kinda underrated
― deej loaf (D-40), Monday, 29 September 2014 23:45 (nine years ago) link
def makes me feel some type of way
― lag∞n, Monday, 29 September 2014 23:51 (nine years ago) link
It's nearly 90 minutes and it's consistently good. Thug's verses are really sharp and focused, especially compared to some of the leftovers that have surfaced this year. Quan hasn't wowed me on the first couple of listens, but he brings a lot of heart. It's just a really balanced tape.
― Evan R, Tuesday, 30 September 2014 00:00 (nine years ago) link
Quan steals "freestyle"
― deej loaf (D-40), Tuesday, 30 September 2014 04:09 (nine years ago) link
So we were at the club until 1:35 a.m. when the lights came up and the DJ announced Young Thug wasn't showing. Said Thug decided to go St. Louis and it was his fault and the promoter's fault but not the club's fault, so we didn't get a refund on our $40 cover. I had a ton of fun so I can't complain too much, but that's a lot of time and money to spend on a Monday night not to see Young Thug.
― Evan R, Tuesday, 30 September 2014 07:14 (nine years ago) link
when you mentioned that show earlier today, i went looking to try to figure out where he was at. saw the ad on his twitter. i don't know anything about that club or Milwaukee on a Monday night but that thing looked like a no-show waiting to happen.
― alpine static, Tuesday, 30 September 2014 07:29 (nine years ago) link
this tape YT is slightly more consistent and engaging that his usual tape standard. Sounds like he's waking up from a long coma on Bullets hook though. Quan's drowsy keyless crooning gets bit tiresome. All the beats on here sound the same.
Non throwaways:
See YouFlava730Tell Em (Lies)Pull Up
― Raccoon Tanuki, Tuesday, 30 September 2014 12:05 (nine years ago) link
that sucks abt the show. yeah same type of sitch when hes supposed to be in Connecticut..may go see lil durk instead which is at least at a legitimate venue
this tape sounds great btw
― johnny crunch, Tuesday, 30 September 2014 12:59 (nine years ago) link
I'd seen Gucci Mane and Young Scooter shows there without a problem, and there were plugs for the show on Young Thug's various social media feeds, so even at 1 a.m. it didn't dawn on me he wasn't gonna show. What's crazy is how little the audience cared. Nobody booed or was all that pissed (even with the DJ bad mouthing Thug). Everybody contently filed out without making a stink about it.
― Evan R, Tuesday, 30 September 2014 13:10 (nine years ago) link
Travis Scott Stan didn't even mention the best record
― deej loaf (D-40), Tuesday, 30 September 2014 16:46 (nine years ago) link
lol raccoon tanuki of all people has nailed my issues with young thug and rich homie quan
― lex pretend, Tuesday, 30 September 2014 19:27 (nine years ago) link
lex is there an Atlanta rapper to emerge in the past few years you are particularly enthused about?
― goon kabuki (The Reverend), Tuesday, 30 September 2014 21:36 (nine years ago) link
I forgot if lex likes or hates Waka
― 龜, Tuesday, 30 September 2014 21:41 (nine years ago) link
likes him iirc but I'll use waka as the cutoff point. post-waka
― goon kabuki (The Reverend), Tuesday, 30 September 2014 21:44 (nine years ago) link
