In 1977, Charles Mingus was diagnosed with ALS. On January 5, 1979, he passed away at age 56 in Mexico. He was cremated the next day. On the day of his death, 56 sperm whales beached themselves in Mexico and were removed by fire.

That scenario is not to ridiculous. There was a day last week when I saw three IBCs happening on my way home from work. None fatal. One of them was right outside my office, which has a little garden with a hose and some people from a condo across the street decided they'd just help themselves and do it on my steps for fucks sake. Then there was a mass one with about six people getting drenched outside Denny's. Then there was a kid on the sidewalk getting cup after cup of water chucked at him by about five buddies. Shit is outta control.

an old acquaintance from high school (she was in choir with me, and was my madrigals partner) recently went through a pre-emptive mastectomy due to having an 85% risk of acquiring breast cancer due to a rare disorder. yeah it blew up fast. she posted it on her FB only about a week ago, a few small blogs got wind of it, then HuffPo got it and that kind of kickstarted it exploding.

I sometimes see the words "fat free" emblazoned on items that only a very stupid or ignorant person would not already know were fat free, such as those bags of "baby" carrots. To the best of my knowledge, those carrots do not resemble a chemical shit storm. They're just mechanically-reshaped carrot chunks in a plastic bag. The same goes for skim milk and a bunch of other innocuous foodstuffs that have been subjected to the attention of marketing teams.
