No, that's a different one - a remix of GFOTY's "Friday Night", the original of which I absolutely love:

I've also got the clip from his set (excerpted for your enjoyment):

Managed to snag a video of her Teragram show before it got flagged on Youtube, and suffice to say if she has an album on the way t' the material is there for it to be a killer.
Also her live thing is coming to NYC in Februrary 2018, which will probably have even more new stuff on the setlist:

(Watch out for returned tickets, I guess?)

I saw her live on Friday night and it was pretty mediocre - a trance breakdown that went nowhere for a good ten mins and then some bouncing David Guetta nonsense that used interesting sound design to disguise a lack of innovation

bad track

why are ppl still referring to sophie as 'her'? i thought it was established years ago that sophie is a guy?

She uses female pronouns.

I think it's a pretty great track.

The sequencing on this is absolutely brilliant! That's my first takeaway.

I love most of this but Ponyboy, Faceshopping and Whole New World (Pretend World is good though) don't really do much for me

so much better than Product which was such a disappointment - she had so many good unreleased tracks she'd played live and in mixes but none of them made it onto that

Not for me either. Ponyboy is way too maximal in reflection ]>which yeah I know that’s pc music. But don’t ride with maximal shit much now

sunburst N snowblind (Ross), Sunday, 17 June 2018 21:46 (five years ago) link

as far as the 'heavier' tracks go i love the sound design on them but grooves they settle into don't do much for me? maybe I'd like them more with less of the vocals on Faceshopping and Ponyboy?

Immaterial is my favourite thing she's done since Bipp and the whole sequence from Is It Cold In The Water? to it is fantastic.

I basically agree with ufo here, those two tracks outstay their welcome a bit, the rest of the album is really great though and I say that as a PC Music non-fan (this is the first thing I've liked by SOPHIE since 'Nothing More to Say').

OIL OF EVERY PEARL'S UN-INSIDES is everything i've ever wanted from an electronic record, personally. it feels utilitarian, purposeful but maintains fun and danceable. it's SOPHIE's eyes of the world; sonically it's genderfluid, dysphoric, but encapsulates more -- transhumanism, intrapersonal technology and sexuality... and it remains succinct throughout, never self-indulgent... SOPHIE is the pop star we needed!

love how Infatuation takes the vocals from Is It Cold in the Water and backwards masks them into infinity - beautiful pair of songs, the latter builds and never really takes off and the former drops in beats but still feels like it never really drops - a master class in ratcheting up tension

Her show tonight in Vancouver was awesome (albeit way too short). She was playing this ambient track, then all of a sudden it turned into Ponyboy and the crowd just lost their shit over it. An audience member in a unicorn costume came out of nowhere too, which i figured was pretty fitting for the track

Great thoughts Ned, and loved the quote you singled out, the desire "to make the brightest, most intense, engaging thing." It started me thinking who else was doing that and the most obvious answer (apart from AG Cook of course) was Yasutaka Nakata (Perfume, Capsule, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu etc.). Does anyone know if SOPHIE and Nakata interacted? I was thrilled when Autechre did the first ever SOPHIE remix.
Also apologies for my use of "her" to refer to the artist upthread, I learned from Philip Sherburne's brilliant p4k piece that SOPHIE disliked both gendered and nonbinary pronouns. https://pitchfork.com/thepitch/remembering-sophies-radical-futurism/

thank u Ned for that writing. i'd never seen the video, it made me cry and that's ok :)))
