contemplating the idea that Ireland has a monsoon season.
Trying to wake up enough to complete a waistcoat and maybe start a pair of jeans.
Punk 45 protopunk edition even if the booklet doesn't appear to have been proofread
Kikagaku Moyo Mammatus Clouds

The free teas I have to work through that I was given in Healthwise my local health food shop.

Pondering whether I should boycott the Honourable Woman because it has an Israeli heroine and seems to portray the Palestinians in a dodgy light. But otherwise seems to be a good series. Does look like it has some very dodgy Israelis appearing who may be downright evil though.

Oh my newsletter was on break for 2 mos and I was kinda burned out on it before but I have to recommit and spend real time & effort developing it and growing my sources, finding stories, etc.

Also have stopped cleaning house or really cooking or anything over the summer.

And my movement/politics world connections are getting good enough now that I have to exploit them more and not back off from that challenge. Possible leadership role in one org being opened up for me but will take work to secure.

Orson Wellies (in orbit), Tuesday, 12 August 2014 18:30 (nine years ago) link

And if I don't get this job offer I've been waiting a few weeks for, I'll have to double down on finding employment.

ooh, into the big room, the one with the little room just off it that I slept in when you RESCUED me? (Still owe you a huge, huge favour and wish I had the right connections to make any difference at all wrt employment, but you are in there with the right people anyway!)

Borges, like for real!!! It's thought provoking and beautifully written and also -- most importantly -- very short, which is perfect for someone w/ my attention span.

Kolchak the night stalker the mid 70s horror/detective show. Wonder why nobody's picked this up for a movie version or update. Strikes me as something somebody else would be dying to toy with.
Especially in the light of discovering recently that they updated Ironsides a couple of years ago

Making psychedelic clothing. Just finished a shirt and jeans this week.
Cutting the time it takes me to make each garment down. Hoping to half it at least.
Doctor Who watching binge. Finished Troughton who I really like but wish had more video remaining instead of being audio and photo stills.
Now watching Peter Davison who is about ok but not classic.

Raymond Queneau's Zazie in the Metro. Want to read Le Chiendent which is currently around as Witchgrass.

Rebuilding stone walls which I hope remain in place once done once.

Should be fixing a computer which I've put off for a month waiting to shake off a cold/flu that shouldn't still be bothering me.

hey that sounds pretty good

marcos, Friday, 31 October 2014 13:00 (nine years ago) link

i am into -

getting excited about fall and winter, which is a HUGE fucking thing for me because i have seasonal affective disorder. i am trying to be open and positive about the cooler weather so far and it's working out pretty good. i might not feel this way in february or march (or shit, this weekend when it will start getting dark at 4:30 here in boston) but for now i'm okay.

will oldham/palace music. i've had a few of these albums for a while but they are really clicking for me right now and i love them.

joni mitchell. i love joni so much and right now i feel a big pull to get really deep into her albums, biographies, etc.

miles davis' autobiography and miles 70s records, especially get up with it and the complete on the corner sessions.

cheese. i was vegan for about 10 years until 2012 or and then starting eating eggs again and now i am really getting into cheese. it's very tasty.

chamois shirts. with fall and winter coming i am digging my chamois.

marcos, Friday, 31 October 2014 13:07 (nine years ago) link

Chamois, is that leather/suede or are there non-animal derived versions.

Stevolende, Friday, 31 October 2014 13:35 (nine years ago) link

what are your favorite cheeses?? can we recommend cheese @ u?

Belami Young (Stevie D(eux)), Friday, 31 October 2014 13:36 (nine years ago) link

oh my god yes you can! i don't know a lot and feel pretty simple. right now my favorite is probably bulgarian feta. it's much creamier than other fetas i've had and it doesn't have that chalky consistency. i also have some vermont cheddar that is really good. i bought some brie that was also really tasty.

marcos, Friday, 31 October 2014 13:41 (nine years ago) link

xp to stevolende, chamois shirts are these heavy flannel-type shirts usually with two pockets and solid colors:

marcos, Friday, 31 October 2014 13:42 (nine years ago) link

everyone pooh-poohs cheddar for being simple but this specific cheddar (Cabot Private Stock, comes in a black wax coating) is very sharp but also surprisingly creamy for a cheddar. It's really quite superior.
