Bearsuit: "Itsuko got married"

brian patrick (brian patrick), Friday, 27 February 2004 03:12 (twenty years ago) link

TV Party y'all!

"Um, that one on London Calling, chorus goes "anything i want, he can get for meeeeeeeeeeeeeee!", um, what's it called? Right after "Rudie Can't Fail"?"

Hateful?

Lots and lots of great old Sparks songs, though I don't know any off hand. Kimono My House sprinkles handclaps on us like manna.

Beggars Opera - Festival
Not the best song on the "Waters of change" album, but the handclap bit is beyond jovial!

I'd also like to nominate the record that Tom gave a recent glowing review of, Stupid Cupid by Connie Francis. Not only is the hand-clapping great, it just sounds like she's grinning through the whole thing - like she's trying to be sexy, but just ends up having fun, which to our 21st centruy ears sounds even sexier.

Johnney B (Johnney B), Friday, 12 March 2004 19:01 (twenty years ago) link

Rubinoos, "I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend"
Toulouse, "Every Office Every Weekend"
Danielson, "Withered Skin"

mike a, Friday, 12 March 2004 19:08 (twenty years ago) link

Sloan, "Snowsuit Sound"
Fugazi, "Nightshop" & "Life And Limb" (little handclapping but masterfully deployed)
112, "Dance With Me" (if you're sexy and you know it)

"Let's Go" by The Cars.

As for cowbells vs. handclaps, it's apples and oranges. Handclaps go on the upbeat (or at least they should); cowbells go on the downbeat (or all four beats).
