It just builds and builds and builds...jesus, so beautiful.

This is exactly how I feel about the Bergraven album on Hydra Head. The guy is taking one-man black metal someplace really special. Check it out if you haven't.

...and i can report that i totally love 'no heroes'

and i agree with scott about the pacing of the album. so much strong material towards the end.
also, the first 5 tracks go by in the blink of the eye - still obviously devastating. but then the title track totally kicks your ass left, right and centre. it's one of those classic converge tracks with hook all over it.

'trophy scars' recalls 'last light', which was my favourite track from 'you fail me'. totally anthemic and 100% heart.

listening to jane doe's majestic title track right now.

"lost in you like saturday nights
searching the streets with bedroom eyes
waiting to be saved"

heavy

lots of chatter abt this on rolling metal but just chiming in to say that the first four tracks are fuckin awesome and the opener is the only thing that can keep up with the jitters my new medication gives me lol

Saw them tonight. They were great. They led into "Dark Horse" (opening cut from Axe To Fall) with a drum solo, during which the bassist yelled at some insufficiently appreciative dude in the pit "Give it up! You can't do that shit!"

new album is awesome. loving kurt ballou's more foregrounded lead parts, and the guest appearances...

better on every new listen. absolutely brutal guitar playing on "sadness comes home". the man is a beast.

charlie h, Tuesday, 23 October 2012 07:48 (eleven years ago) link

and when i say brutal, i mean brutal with deft hand, pinpoint control and finesse. that guitar line from start to finish, solo included, is the stuff of genius.

CONVERGE SHARES NEW VIDEO
Watch "Precipice / All We Love We Leave Behind" at Pitchfork:
http://pitchfork.com/news/54784-converge-share-precipice-all-we-love-we-leave-behind-video/

Converge is proud to release the film/video for "Precipice / All We Love We Leave Behind", directed by Craig Murray (Converge, Oxbow, Narrows). Both tracks appear on Converge's 2012 full-length, All We Love We Leave Behind, out now on Epitaph/Deathwish Inc.

The video was conceptualized by Murray, using the narrative put forth of the death of a canine companion as told in J. Bannon’s lyrical writings. Murray uses powerful visual metaphor and imagery to communicate the crushing weight of loss and the strength of unconditional love the song explores.

the first side/half of The Dusk In Us is one of their best-ever stretches of music, as well as their most emo!

I find it utterly bizarre that "Eve" was left off, feels purpose-built to be a Side A closer

maybe they'll add it on; the last album came in a deluxe version that added 2-3 tracks
