also, songwriter techno or techno songs as opposed to tracks, techno inspired by rock or hip hop...makes me wonder how much he pays attention to labels like kompakt. the show may have been more interesting if they talked about now instead of the past.

A reliable informant told me that Mayer's doing/did a remix of "Throw," so Craig's at least aware of Kompakt.

Andy_K (Andy_K), Sunday, 11 December 2005 22:14 (eighteen years ago) link

wow that's pretty impressive about "throw" as that tune is pretty much unfuckwithable yeah?

he did play a couple luciano tracks in his mix today. well i think one quenum track and then a luciano remix of something. super deep chord and bongo techno...really nice.

tricky (disco stu), Sunday, 11 December 2005 22:20 (eighteen years ago) link

Jena: I found it in the discogs forum. There was a more than stupid quarrel going on between Pacou and Frankie Bones - whose the better DJ, who disrespected whom, stuff like this. And somewhere Pacou linked this side:

http://www.discogs.com/forums/topic?topic_id=80674

There are tons of mixes. Some are quite good actually, although I never liked Pacou too much as a producer. Not that it's bad what he does, just a bit too puristic for me. And I have to admit "No Computers Involved" was the last Pacou record I really listened too. I seeing the title I was instantly prejudiced.

Listening to Landcruising right now. Carl Craig is my daddy.

I think I heard him spin at a massive and remember not being impressed though.

I'm guessing the Relevee remix is a CD-friendly rework of the one already released on DFA. I have it. It's deeep.

costello, Wednesday, 9 January 2008 05:26 (sixteen years ago) link

(Er, I have the already-released one, not the Sessions one.)

costello, Wednesday, 9 January 2008 07:07 (sixteen years ago) link

Seeing as it was one of THE most eagerly anticipated remixes evah, I'm sure most here do too.

tommytannoy, Wednesday, 9 January 2008 07:10 (sixteen years ago) link

In my mind dude is completely a Grand Master after the awesomeness of the Angola rmx.

actually I’m doing a one-on-one collaboration right now, but it’s on a remix project, it’s a classical thing for Deutsche Grammofon with Moritz Von Oswald from Rhythm & Sound.

The iTunes version of Sessions is well worth checking out- all the tracks unmixed, plus both mixes as single files, $12.

juno has the sessions vinyl. the itunes deal looks muy deliciosa.

go buy this today

moonship journey to baja, Tuesday, 26 February 2008 17:47 (sixteen years ago) link

is the emusic version mixed or not?

El Tomboto, Wednesday, 27 February 2008 06:57 (sixteen years ago) link

the itunes version includes mixed + unmixed, though it omits revelee (it's chopped out of the mix, too, for some reason!!!) and maybe other stuff too

moonship journey to baja, Wednesday, 27 February 2008 07:00 (sixteen years ago) link

so the emusic version is what i got when i bought it on itunes MINUS the two one-hour mixes.

moonship journey to baja, Wednesday, 27 February 2008 07:01 (sixteen years ago) link

i also bought the 2-CD set today at the store ... figure the itunes money i spent was payback for all of the c2 remix mp3s i've downloaded from blogs.

moonship journey to baja, Wednesday, 27 February 2008 07:02 (sixteen years ago) link
