I was looking at Fowler's cap.

Both he and Johnson disintegrated at key periods. Rory hung on and got stronger. Pleasure to see.

This was over by the time I got up today. Disappointing.

There were storms just 30 mins after the players came off...fairways flooded, so sports admins have NOT fucked up for a change.

The BBC commentary (awful as usual) should've been more clear with the forecast and the decision. They were talking as if the forecast was for rain during play, but it appears to have been for localised flooding later on.

Couple of bogeys were followed by solid pars and that birdie at the 9th. Always in control. Very, very impressive. Easily beat all the European records now.

McIlroy's got a one-stroke lead! Favourite, yes, but that's ridiculous. Does his short-term memory only extend as far back as whatever the last major was? (I know writers aren't responsible for their headlines, but his very first paragraph makes the same point.)

Mc Ilroy hasn't missed a putt since the Masters. The guy literally doesn't miss putts.

Listening to the radio till the end at round 1:30am, really exciting finish. Again Rory stayed strong while others faded.

Sentence is awful but I just want to check: I don't think the British Isles have ever come up with a 'world beater' quite like this in almost any sport with a global-like reach? Both in individual sports or national teams.

I'd offer Roy keane, idk bout global reach of their categories but Sonia o Sullivan, Michelle smith lol and Katie Taylor dominated their fields globally, Brian o Driscoll is an all-timer certainly.

Saw bits of this - was great, but the comptetition is lacking. Europe are now dominating (even UKIP wouldn't dare support the US).

They could look into an Americas vs Europe. Allow guys like Cabrera to get into the Ryder Cup.

More immediately I am looking forward to Mickelson's captaincy (he was clearly applying for it), that could bring a bit of life back.

The Open is moving to Sky from 2017.

Only Wimbledon, World Cup and Euros as the summer sporting events I'd watch now left for the BBC.
