I was in Cleveland once for work and I was talking to a colleague about the cavs and I was like "Well hey, at least you got Kyrie Irving" and I couldn't tell if the look on his face was more about-to-cry or about-to-punch-you-in-the-face

If the cavs did land both klove and LeBron, we might have to stop calling their front office 'a pack of idiots'.

There is stuff floating around on twitter suggesting Cavs have a trade in place for Kevin Love source close to process called it "Nonsense"

Q: What are the chances that the pack of idiots in Cleveland could do all the deals they're rumored to be doing?

A: Zero

time to move on the Love trade so they can dominate

Nhex, Friday, 11 July 2014 16:42 (nine years ago) link

can't say I'm not surprised but there is a lot of long-term potential with Cleveland having Kyrie Irving and a very young, hungry roster. think this probably looked sexier to Bron than attempting to win w/ a Big Three that was aging, showing diminishing returns, and with a roster that wasn't very deep and flawed.

so what say you all - is Cleveland an instant contender, or is this a multi-year project?

Neanderthal, Friday, 11 July 2014 16:42 (nine years ago) link

oh geez I forgot the Love trade. if they get him, peace out EC

Neanderthal, Friday, 11 July 2014 16:42 (nine years ago) link

w/ love? in the east? instant contender. they're an ecf fave even w/o love.

I wonder if its possible bosh and wade had no interest in taking a significant pay cut - hence the miami dream was never gonna be financially feasible (and a shitty idea to boot)

curious to see what kind of contract wade ends up w/ now. seems like it might be better for both parties if they just let him back in to the old contract.

balls, Friday, 11 July 2014 16:47 (nine years ago) link

i'm predicting a Kobe-style "yeah we know you suck now but thanks for all the fish" contract now that they're gonna suck for at least a couple seasons

yeah if they were savvier and more in touch w/ that fanbase they would've tilted to 'he's coming back' in the last couple of years and then had everyone thinking they predicted it like biggie and the wtc

Aw yeah

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k-ImCpNqbJw

, Friday, 11 July 2014 17:33 (nine years ago) link

pretty difficult to trade for a contract that big, getting enough cap room for bron also difficult, obvs neither is impossible but youd def be putting you team in a spot for a very old guy, guess theres a chance hed take a smaller deal tho

lag∞n, Thursday, 7 April 2022 17:13 (two years ago) link

seem likely hell play out next season with the lakers at least

lag∞n, Thursday, 7 April 2022 17:22 (two years ago) link

yah my guess is he finishes that contract then just takes one year lesser deals to ring chase. i guess? idk. could just re-up in LA cos he loves living in LA.

jammin on the dud (Spottie), Thursday, 7 April 2022 17:39 (two years ago) link

one obvious irony is that while $45 million is too massive a contract for most teams to swallow, it's still less than what bron makes every year on his side deals. He could work for a dollar/year and still make more than 99% of players.

more difficult than I look (Aimless), Thursday, 7 April 2022 17:45 (two years ago) link

LeBron's legacy on the Lakers is so weird. 3 of the 4 years were utterly embarrassing, including two years where they missed the playoffs entirely despite LeBron playing at a pretty high level. and yet they did win a title, albeit during the bubble season where everything was upside down...so how much does it really count?? still though....a title is a title

frogbs, Thursday, 7 April 2022 18:07 (two years ago) link

seems like people dont really rate the mickey mouse title, but nevertheless bron and the lakers still get to add it to their totals

lag∞n, Thursday, 7 April 2022 18:09 (two years ago) link

I mean tbf coming back from 3-1 to beat the 73-win Warriors should count like 2 titles

frogbs, Thursday, 7 April 2022 21:53 (two years ago) link

no

jammin on the dud (Spottie), Thursday, 7 April 2022 22:02 (two years ago) link

it should count as 3, its that impressive

degrees of difficulty:
--coming back from 1-3 hole
--beating the greatest regular season team of all-time
--winning a championship for a cleveland team of any sport

Seeing LeBron's block in Game 7 is one of the greatest sports moments I've seen live in my life.
