Misdirected emails

Hi Pleasant Plains. Here is the audiogram. Hearing aids will really help with the tinnitus. Basically all the natural sounds that occur around the same frequency of your tinnitus will then be heard, and as such “masks” the tinnitus.

I'm really trying to understand where the confusion is coming from.

1.) Do people just register for whatever name they want - john.smith@gmail - and then go on registering and submitting that all over the place afterward without bothering to see if they can actually use it or not?

2.) Or is Google confirming to them that the address is available, turning green and saying "Yes! You got one!" even though, as far as I can tell, they can't access that account?

It seems like people are falling for (1.), but how did people get so damn stupid all of a sudden? I have never seen so many misdirected emails. It can't be the common people's fault.

I think some of it is due to transcription errors when email addresses are written. Others when they're dictated to cashiers or whatever, or to friends. But otherwise, I think people really do not know their own email addresses and think they're right.

I went to sign up for a damn microsoft live acct recently (the stupid win8 apps insisted on it on my tablet). It told me I already had an account. Wuh? thinks I... I got it to reset pwd, send me the details... it was some other twit. Who now has no Microsoft Live account. sucker.

All of my misdirectors (I have about 5) appear to be Republicans, 80% are over 50, only one has a job that requires a college degree, so yes, I think they just don't know their own e-mail addresses.

I really think that people just 'make up' an address when they don't want to get on an email list or get email notifications from a site, but duh, everything requires a verification email now.

Sometimes yeah but usually nah. Depends if you can log in automatically from the email or if they make you enter the password manually.

Like, typically a lot of sites let you send a password reset link to your email address, then click on it to set a new password. If they're wise, they as for some authenticating info, but even that is a mixed bag

okcupid, however, is so lax that you can log in by clicking a link from email, apparently. I was really confused when I just did so, assumed it'd send me to my account first, and got the message inbox of women saying "sorry, I'm only 20"

Wrong thread, but I got an arrest warrant mailed to me. I live at 123 Broad Street, but the letter was supposed to go to 123 Broad Ave across town.

The envelope, which helpfully described its contents by saying PULASKI COUNTY SHERIFF ARREST WARRANT in big letters on the front, was addressed properly. Mailman just took it to the wrong place, despite a different zip code.

I almost wrote "wrong address" on it like I usually do, but wait - the address was right. So I wrote "deliver to this address" with an arrow pointing at the window and stuck it back into the mailbox.

So then, a few weeks later, the court summons appeared. I pictured this guy across town getting found in contempt, and being hauled out of his house (if they could find it) as part of some Southern Gothic Kafka nightmare. So instead of putting it back in the box and leaving it up to the USPS again, I walked it the three blocks from where I work to the county judge whose office had sent the letter. We all in his front office had a good laugh at the post office's expense.

I really hate though having an Ave version of my address in the same town. It's not even set up in a grid like they do in Yankee towns. I'm up here on the hill, and he's down by the old highway next to the train tracks. All those Christmas cards you all have sent me have probably gone up over his mantle.
