sorry, 6!

Neanderthal, Saturday, 5 July 2014 17:43 (nine years ago) link

Maybe next time, Belgium. This was this generation's first attempt at something big, I'm happy they got this far already.

StanM, Saturday, 5 July 2014 17:44 (nine years ago) link

hahahahaha

Neanderthal, Saturday, 5 July 2014 17:46 (nine years ago) link

(laughter not at you, Stan, the last crummy corner)

Neanderthal, Saturday, 5 July 2014 17:46 (nine years ago) link

Impatient and one-dimensional play from Belgium

everyday sheeple (Michael B), Saturday, 5 July 2014 17:49 (nine years ago) link

Favourites take early lead, underdogs never quite mount a challenge is such a disappointing narrative

Ismael Klata, Saturday, 5 July 2014 17:51 (nine years ago) link

no way this is a beautiful outcome DEATH TO WAFFLES

farewell sweet princess

Ismael Klata, Saturday, 5 July 2014 17:53 (nine years ago) link

i agree Ismael. Argentina played a fine match and did what they were supposed to do but at least if that early goal was to stand, it might have been more entertaining had Belgium ever launched a solitary effective attack.

Neanderthal, Saturday, 5 July 2014 17:54 (nine years ago) link

aww. well, i hope this group of players does improve together. there is a danger they never move beyond being a slightly better, more fun england.

Roberto Spiralli, Saturday, 5 July 2014 17:54 (nine years ago) link

go Costa Rica!

Neanderthal, Saturday, 5 July 2014 17:55 (nine years ago) link

wau at that bird's eye view of that swarm of people

Neanderthal, Saturday, 5 July 2014 17:55 (nine years ago) link

We'll probably get another tonight xps, but if so at least there won't be any favourites in the rest of the tourney

Ismael Klata, Saturday, 5 July 2014 17:55 (nine years ago) link

Chiles just wrote them off in exactly those terms, RS: 'and so Belgium's golden generation go the same way as England's'

Ismael Klata, Saturday, 5 July 2014 17:57 (nine years ago) link

Favourites take early lead, underdogs never quite mount a challenge is such a disappointing narrative

Otm. Haven't really enjoyed any matches this weekend, here hoping hoping Los Ticos come up with a spanner to throw in the works of the Clockwork Orange *fingers crossed*

Neanderthal, Saturday, 5 July 2014 17:58 (nine years ago) link

No way is this Argentina getting past the Netherlands.

StanM, Saturday, 5 July 2014 17:59 (nine years ago) link

SEE YA LATER WAFFLE EATERS

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Saturday, 5 July 2014 17:59 (nine years ago) link

We hardly ever eat the damned things here in Belgium, to be honest

StanM, Saturday, 5 July 2014 18:09 (nine years ago) link

mystified by any culture that wld associate belgium w/ waffles over beer&chocolate

ogmor, Saturday, 5 July 2014 18:11 (nine years ago) link

That's because beer waffles covered in chocolate aren't popular in America. Yet.

Ned Raggett, Saturday, 5 July 2014 18:12 (nine years ago) link

and Australians don't drink Foster's DEAL WITH IT

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Saturday, 5 July 2014 18:15 (nine years ago) link

nobody with respect for their palette would drink Foster's

Neanderthal, Saturday, 5 July 2014 18:21 (nine years ago) link

Belgium would win a beer World Cup, no contest

everyday sheeple (Michael B), Saturday, 5 July 2014 18:28 (nine years ago) link

tbh cuisine isn't the terrain I'd choose if I wanted to poke fun at the Belgians

Ismael Klata, Saturday, 5 July 2014 18:28 (nine years ago) link

terrine either come to think

Ismael Klata, Saturday, 5 July 2014 18:29 (nine years ago) link

Neanderthal, Saturday, 5 July 2014 18:32 (nine years ago) link

On zing lite here: holland seemingly playing a normal 433 it turns out, front: Depay, VP, Robben. Enjoy it guys!

In the airplane over the .CSS (Le Bateau Ivre), Saturday, 5 July 2014 18:35 (nine years ago) link

4'33" always works

willem, Saturday, 5 July 2014 18:38 (nine years ago) link

Keep trying to make a joke about Chicken and Waffles but I can't do it.

Riot In #9 Dream (James Redd and the Blecchs), Saturday, 5 July 2014 18:42 (nine years ago) link

It doesn't matter, we still own this world record http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2010%E2%80%932011_Belgian_government_formation

StanM, Saturday, 5 July 2014 19:03 (nine years ago) link

Saw the 2nd half - well done Argies, that looked easy.

xyzzzz__, Saturday, 5 July 2014 19:10 (nine years ago) link

what's the o/u on number of Robben flops tonight

Neanderthal, Saturday, 5 July 2014 19:15 (nine years ago) link

2010 QFs were way better fwiw.

Matt DC, Saturday, 5 July 2014 19:18 (nine years ago) link

Little drama so far, last 20 mins of Bra - Col aside.

xyzzzz__, Saturday, 5 July 2014 19:22 (nine years ago) link

Holland goalie is p terrible. Luckily they should have more than enough to win anyway. Arg-Belg was mostly dull, liked DiMichelis haircut though.
