And of course the apple orchard was fertilized only with manure from those pigs...

Bonobos in Paneradise (Hurting 2), Wednesday, 11 March 2009 14:37 (fifteen years ago) link

ha, I was going to make a joke along those lines but was tired to make it work

f f murray abraham (G00blar), Wednesday, 11 March 2009 14:38 (fifteen years ago) link

that is so ridiculous

yur twit (tehresa), Wednesday, 11 March 2009 14:39 (fifteen years ago) link

do they offer an additional topping of applewood smoked bacon?

yur twit (tehresa), Wednesday, 11 March 2009 14:40 (fifteen years ago) link

multiple adjectives on menus are the best

mookieproof, Wednesday, 11 March 2009 14:41 (fifteen years ago) link

Liking Reginella Pizza on Atlantic. Run by actual Italians from Italy, and they sort of meet the American-style slice halfway. Excellent crust. Generally really good topping slices*

*A few times they had this hot-dog and french fry pizza though. It looked scary. But then last time I was there they didn't have it, and then this dude came in like "Where's the hot dog pizza?" So I guess they know what sells.

I was at Enid's last night and I had the terrible realization "This is basically the Williamsburg TGI Fridays... and I like it."

Bonobos in Paneradise (Hurting 2), Friday, 13 March 2009 18:49 (fifteen years ago) link

i think that's san loco, actually.

yur twit (tehresa), Friday, 13 March 2009 18:54 (fifteen years ago) link

Isn't San Loco more of an order-at-the-counter quick bite kind of place?

Bonobos in Paneradise (Hurting 2), Friday, 13 March 2009 18:58 (fifteen years ago) link

That's a good deal!

Bonobos in Paneradise (Hurting 2), Friday, 13 March 2009 19:01 (fifteen years ago) link

rip dom passantino 3/5/09 never forget (max), Friday, 13 March 2009 19:02 (fifteen years ago) link

this is an email from my aunt re dinner to nite w/her and my cousin

I will call you in a little bit. We thought maybe dinner in Brooklyn? We could meet you at your place. If you could choose a restaurant that would be great.

not sure where to go its monday er

btw went to the new ramen place - its was a pretty rad good vibes style venue - good if not spectacular untraditional ramen - had a nice japanese wheat beer w/a rad owl on the bottle - place was full at 6pm on a saturday and its only been open 2 weeks - theyre going to do well

ice cr?m, Monday, 23 March 2009 16:19 (fifteen years ago) link

Surmounter, Monday, 23 March 2009 16:24 (fifteen years ago) link

Buttermilk Channel was packed, but mostly good. Best bread and butter pickles ever.

dan selzer, Monday, 23 March 2009 16:47 (fifteen years ago) link

i don't mean to sound like a dick, but isn't that kinda like saying "best dinner rolls ever"? i.e. damning with faint praise?

ian, Monday, 23 March 2009 16:50 (fifteen years ago) link

Not if you REALLY love pickles.

dan selzer, Monday, 23 March 2009 17:18 (fifteen years ago) link

And best dinner rolls ever was Falai.

dan selzer, Monday, 23 March 2009 17:18 (fifteen years ago) link

im looking at frannys fish camp or the general greene for the aunt/cousin dinner - i like the 1st 2 v much never been to the general greene

ice cr?m, Monday, 23 March 2009 18:08 (fifteen years ago) link

the greene is much better for brunch, dinner is like odds and ends style, not too economical

Surmounter, Monday, 23 March 2009 18:10 (fifteen years ago) link

it's like, here's a scallop, and a piece of bacon. are you full?

Surmounter, Monday, 23 March 2009 18:14 (fifteen years ago) link

was wondering abt that - thx 4 the tip

ice cr?m, Monday, 23 March 2009 18:16 (fifteen years ago) link

perhaps i will replace it w/stonehome on my list - tho i kinda feel i should offer something cheaper

ice cr?m, Monday, 23 March 2009 18:17 (fifteen years ago) link

was way more satisfied w/ my gnr greene brunch than the dinner. i dont mind the order-five-dishes-to-share thing but the food just wasnt really cutting it. their cocktails are ok tho. and they serve beer in jars

rip dom passantino 3/5/09 never forget (max), Monday, 23 March 2009 18:17 (fifteen years ago) link

PS joe Deniz's food was actually delicious

Surmounter, Monday, 23 March 2009 18:18 (fifteen years ago) link

oh ok yes thats good been meaning to try ill include that as my affordable option

ice cr?m, Monday, 23 March 2009 18:20 (fifteen years ago) link

its affordable right - i just figured cause of u know the comic sans signage

ice cr?m, Monday, 23 March 2009 18:21 (fifteen years ago) link

totally :)

Surmounter, Monday, 23 March 2009 18:21 (fifteen years ago) link

cool :)

ice cr?m, Monday, 23 March 2009 18:22 (fifteen years ago) link

buttermilk channel is absolutely fantastic. can't vouch for their pickles (?? i think i am with ian on this one!) but the duck meatloaf and the short ribs special are both a++ and they have a really interesting wine selection.

myself i love a good pickle and would be happy to give props for one

ice cr?m, Monday, 23 March 2009 19:06 (fifteen years ago) link

i'm sure theirs are very good! everything else there is very good!

duck meatloaf

wha??? tell me more about this intriguing concoction.

"Pieface Game Concept" (G00blar), Monday, 23 March 2009 19:23 (fifteen years ago) link

where'd ya go joe

Surmounter, Tuesday, 24 March 2009 13:05 (fifteen years ago) link

ice cr?m, Tuesday, 24 March 2009 13:15 (fifteen years ago) link

i don't know how to describe it exactly -- it is finely ground delicious duck meat shaped into a meatloaf and served over really delicious greens. really heavy but really delicious.

wanted to go to franny's the other night but it was totally smashed in there :(

I'm coming to NY for four days at beginning of May w/my wife, staying near Murray Hill area (36th & 5th). Any recommendations for some good places to take a vegetarian diner? We've done Zen Palate before, and one of my friends wants to take us to Kefi. What else is good?

lolling through my bagel (Pancakes Hackman), Tuesday, 24 March 2009 14:55 (fifteen years ago) link

I don't know them, but there's gotta be some great veggie south-indian stuff not far from you.

You can also walk up to the 7 train and come out to Queens and visit Sripraphai, Little Pepper, Dehli Heights etc etc

dan selzer, Tuesday, 24 March 2009 15:57 (fifteen years ago) link

Gobo is similar to Zen Palate (and better imo). probably a little pricier but they have a prix fixe if you eat early
http://www.goborestaurant.com/

I liked Kefi, it's good and pretty cheap

dmr, Tuesday, 24 March 2009 17:03 (fifteen years ago) link

angelicas kitchen in the village was always great - havent eaten there in years tho

ice cr?m, Tuesday, 24 March 2009 18:24 (fifteen years ago) link

I seem to remember a decent vegetarian place in the 20s on maybe 9th Ave.? Not insanely far from your location.

Comprehensive Nuclear Suggest-Ban Treaty (Hurting 2), Tuesday, 24 March 2009 19:14 (fifteen years ago) link

soy is nice, just a little place. somewhere off rivington. bunch of little places around west fourth like temple in the village. i wonder whether you're better going with thai stuff in queens etc rather than exclusively vegetarian.

deveraux billings (schlump), Tuesday, 24 March 2009 19:28 (fifteen years ago) link

Thai is always good - thanks for the suggestions! Keep 'em coming!

lolling through my bagel (Pancakes Hackman), Tuesday, 24 March 2009 19:34 (fifteen years ago) link

ZuZu Ramen is some overpriced bullshit fyi

dmr, Wednesday, 1 April 2009 02:50 (fifteen years ago) link

I don't know them, but there's gotta be some great veggie south-indian stuff not far from you.

yeah, i went to vatan with my mom a few years ago -- we're both vegetarian -- and it was good. not too expensive, tons of food.

paper plans (tipsy mothra), Wednesday, 1 April 2009 03:03 (fifteen years ago) link
