ppl keep going on about the last time how england had ran out of time. but in reality they had 10 overs at the last partnership which should have been plenty of time. Doubt very much 9 will be down with 10 wkts remaining this time.

nasser hussain got us that wicket

Harper and Tiffin should never ever be allowed to umpire again.

dunno who should be more worried right now, Boycott's cat or wife/girlfriend.

well england were 3 wickets away from winning the series

Jarlrmai, Tuesday, 10 March 2009 21:39 (fifteen years ago) link

WI deserved the series win, wished they'd choked after those appalling tactics in that last match though. Not all bad for England, but we have some serious problems.

zero learnt from nero (Neil S), Tuesday, 10 March 2009 21:40 (fifteen years ago) link

Who gets west indies player of the match: Harper or Tiffin? ;)

West Indies will say the tactics were justified, so you haven't seen the last of them from WI or other teams.

they are the greece of test cricket!

Still deserved the win I think

Ismael Klata, Tuesday, 10 March 2009 21:43 (fifteen years ago) link

pity it wasnt a proper 5 match series. the amount of ODI's piss me off.

there should me no more than 3 ODI's but they have them for the money. The WI grounds have been empty, despite leading and winning a test series and that's not going to change. ~But the 20/20 game is a sell out.

So who should be coach and captain for the WI series in England and for the ashes? (LJ dont even say it)

Peter Such for coach, Mark Ramprakash for captain

Flower is probably the guy who decided to not declare early both those times...

Strauss for captain obv. Would like a coach who isn't hated by at least one faction in the England dressing room.

Louis?

Boycott?

Botham?

Tom D?

Allen Stanford, in a shock redemption even a Hollywood scriptwriter wouldn't touch

Botham's going nuts just now on sky sports. Why doesnt he get off his arse in the tv studio and put himself forward for the job instead of being the charlie nicholas of cricket ;)

you now what, the bowlers tried bloody hard today and I don't think they can be blamed. I wish Flintoff and Jones could get 3 years of being fit to help them.

Australia 2 - South Africa 0

I found Mike Brearley's guide to the job in a charity shop today (plus Nasser's autobiography in a bargain captaincy twofer). The only bit I've read so far is about the merits of bold early declarations. He's talking about the time some wag declared after about one over admittedly, but it might've been useful reading on this tour

Brian Rose, for Somerset, in a one-day game that they could lose through a 1-over declaration and progress out of the group stages of the B&H Cup. They were kicked out of the competition. I didn't look this up.
