Deuce ready to throw down now

sometimes to get the ball "in the goal" you have to think "outside the box" - what if all the US players link arms and form a circle around the ball so the other team can't reach it? is this legal, and if so could they just do that for the remaining 55 minutes or so? might be a really innovative and noble way to win

Is it still possible to bring on Landon Donovan
― 龜, Monday, 16 June 2014 22:35 (nine years ago) link
they could all fart too
― Sufjan Grafton, Monday, 16 June 2014 22:36 (nine years ago) link
a ring of farts
P sure the Italians tried that in the 80s
― dan m, Monday, 16 June 2014 22:37 (nine years ago) link
I like this - to think outside the box you have to square the circle
― 龜, Monday, 16 June 2014 22:37 (nine years ago) link
usa very bunched up down the middle, they may well be on their way to karl's innovative technique

US looking some way short of good right now. Bradley in particular having a stinker, can't seem to do anything useful with the ball at all.
― William Bloody Swygart, Monday, 16 June 2014 22:39 (nine years ago) link
both sides pretty sloppy to this point

just me or do the USA possibly not like it up 'em?
― TracerHandVEVO (Tracer Hand), Monday, 16 June 2014 22:45 (nine years ago) link
this has been a great world cup for giving the stare of death to the ref after a blatant foul, maybe the best ever
― Roberto Spiralli, Monday, 16 June 2014 22:45 (nine years ago) link
if baseball players played soccer there'd be 14 severe injuries by now, all of them with possible tommy john surgeries in the near future
― Karl Malone, Monday, 16 June 2014 22:46 (nine years ago) link
tasty challenge
― pandemic, Monday, 16 June 2014 22:47 (nine years ago) link
If someone were to do a compilation of all the dreadful corners from this tournament, it would go on for ages.

― pandemic, Monday, 16 June 2014 22:50 (nine years ago) link

US can't leave this space on the flanks vs Portugal surely?
― pandemic, Monday, 16 June 2014 22:52 (nine years ago) link

DeMarcus Beasley is quite terrible.
― Van Horn Street, Monday, 16 June 2014 22:53 (nine years ago) link
seems a bit mean keeping henry & seedorf up for this, more of a claridge & rosenior gig
― r|t|c, Monday, 16 June 2014 22:54 (nine years ago) link
well that turned into a whole lot of faffing about
hopefully things will tighten up in the 2nd half?

When was Beasley transformed into a left back anyway? Only know him as winger when at PSV.

that was great when Muntari almost punched Jones
― cajunsunday, Monday, 16 June 2014 22:54 (nine years ago) link
nothing more fun than watching the game with a bunch of maroons opining on how it's good that the US are doing so well since all the kids play soccer now
smdh

Beas has been playing there since JK came on board pretty much
― dan m, Monday, 16 June 2014 22:56 (nine years ago) link
And srsly if you think he's bad you should see the other left backs
*tries to remember other MLS left-backs*
Tony... Beltran?

― dan m, Monday, 16 June 2014 22:59 (nine years ago) link
Surely Donovan would have been a better choice than lightweight Danish kid, no?
― everyday sheeple (Michael B), Monday, 16 June 2014 22:59 (nine years ago) link
Thanks Dan, I didn't find him particularly bad tbh, that was someone else here iirc
― In the airplane over the .CSS (Le Bateau Ivre), Monday, 16 June 2014 22:59 (nine years ago) link
"Lightweight Danish kid" is actually Icelandic, and had a pretty good season at AZ. Promising striker.
