Deuce ready to throw down now

Windsor Davies, Monday, 16 June 2014 22:35 (nine years ago) link

sometimes to get the ball "in the goal" you have to think "outside the box" - what if all the US players link arms and form a circle around the ball so the other team can't reach it? is this legal, and if so could they just do that for the remaining 55 minutes or so? might be a really innovative and noble way to win

Karl Malone, Monday, 16 June 2014 22:35 (nine years ago) link

Is it still possible to bring on Landon Donovan

, Monday, 16 June 2014 22:35 (nine years ago) link

they could all fart too

Sufjan Grafton, Monday, 16 June 2014 22:36 (nine years ago) link

a ring of farts

Sufjan Grafton, Monday, 16 June 2014 22:36 (nine years ago) link

P sure the Italians tried that in the 80s

I like this - to think outside the box you have to square the circle

usa very bunched up down the middle, they may well be on their way to karl's innovative technique

US looking some way short of good right now. Bradley in particular having a stinker, can't seem to do anything useful with the ball at all.

William Bloody Swygart, Monday, 16 June 2014 22:39 (nine years ago) link

both sides pretty sloppy to this point

Roberto Spiralli, Monday, 16 June 2014 22:40 (nine years ago) link

xyzzzz__, Monday, 16 June 2014 22:42 (nine years ago) link

just me or do the USA possibly not like it up 'em?

TracerHandVEVO (Tracer Hand), Monday, 16 June 2014 22:45 (nine years ago) link

this has been a great world cup for giving the stare of death to the ref after a blatant foul, maybe the best ever

Roberto Spiralli, Monday, 16 June 2014 22:45 (nine years ago) link

if baseball players played soccer there'd be 14 severe injuries by now, all of them with possible tommy john surgeries in the near future

Karl Malone, Monday, 16 June 2014 22:46 (nine years ago) link

tasty challenge

pandemic, Monday, 16 June 2014 22:47 (nine years ago) link

If someone were to do a compilation of all the dreadful corners from this tournament, it would go on for ages.

William Bloody Swygart, Monday, 16 June 2014 22:47 (nine years ago) link

keep thinking this is cobi jones

players who don't sing their national anthem deserve to be kicked in the nose imo

john wahey (NickB), Monday, 16 June 2014 22:49 (nine years ago) link

terrible first touch on wing even worse finish

pandemic, Monday, 16 June 2014 22:50 (nine years ago) link

Ghana should've forced a save there, at the least

xyzzzz__, Monday, 16 June 2014 22:51 (nine years ago) link

ineptitude just getting irritating now

r|t|c, Monday, 16 June 2014 22:51 (nine years ago) link

jesus ghana are bobbns in the last third. tea cups need to be thrown.

Roberto Spiralli, Monday, 16 June 2014 22:51 (nine years ago) link

wonder if Savage was kicked into the co-commentary bcz of his 'argument' w/Henry last night.

xyzzzz__, Monday, 16 June 2014 22:52 (nine years ago) link

US can't leave this space on the flanks vs Portugal surely?

pandemic, Monday, 16 June 2014 22:52 (nine years ago) link

ffs Jermaine Jones get it together man...

Frobisher, Monday, 16 June 2014 22:52 (nine years ago) link

DeMarcus Beasley is quite terrible.

Van Horn Street, Monday, 16 June 2014 22:53 (nine years ago) link

seems a bit mean keeping henry & seedorf up for this, more of a claridge & rosenior gig

r|t|c, Monday, 16 June 2014 22:54 (nine years ago) link

well that turned into a whole lot of faffing about

hopefully things will tighten up in the 2nd half?

When was Beasley transformed into a left back anyway? Only know him as winger when at PSV.

In the airplane over the .CSS (Le Bateau Ivre), Monday, 16 June 2014 22:54 (nine years ago) link

that was great when Muntari almost punched Jones

cajunsunday, Monday, 16 June 2014 22:54 (nine years ago) link

nothing more fun than watching the game with a bunch of maroons opining on how it's good that the US are doing so well since all the kids play soccer now

smdh

stfu everyone that was a great first half

v impressed with yank movement. drilled far better than England. Ghana wasteful, not calling it tbh.

ref excellent, Portuguese match official take note.

dn/ac (darraghmac), Monday, 16 June 2014 22:55 (nine years ago) link

Beas has been playing there since JK came on board pretty much

dan m, Monday, 16 June 2014 22:56 (nine years ago) link

And srsly if you think he's bad you should see the other left backs

dan m, Monday, 16 June 2014 22:56 (nine years ago) link

*tries to remember other MLS left-backs*

Tony... Beltran?

William Bloody Swygart, Monday, 16 June 2014 22:57 (nine years ago) link

I enjoyed that, wtf is going with US right hand side tho?

everyday sheeple (Michael B), Monday, 16 June 2014 22:58 (nine years ago) link

Ever heard of Heath Pearce? Right

dan m, Monday, 16 June 2014 22:59 (nine years ago) link

Surely Donovan would have been a better choice than lightweight Danish kid, no?

everyday sheeple (Michael B), Monday, 16 June 2014 22:59 (nine years ago) link

Thanks Dan, I didn't find him particularly bad tbh, that was someone else here iirc

In the airplane over the .CSS (Le Bateau Ivre), Monday, 16 June 2014 22:59 (nine years ago) link

"Lightweight Danish kid" is actually Icelandic, and had a pretty good season at AZ. Promising striker.

In the airplane over the .CSS (Le Bateau Ivre), Monday, 16 June 2014 23:01 (nine years ago) link

If Altidore is toast could they bring in Lando? Srs question I don't know the rule.

dan m, Monday, 16 June 2014 23:01 (nine years ago) link

lol I just saw the FIFA ad talking about how it fights match manipulation.

Frobisher, Monday, 16 June 2014 23:02 (nine years ago) link

let me get a belated "lol pepe" in since i'm only now seeing the highlights

can't his wife just hit him with a frying pan every time he gets home

r|t|c, Monday, 16 June 2014 23:03 (nine years ago) link
