sktsh, Sunday, 15 June 2014 20:10 (nine years ago) link

i mean sure i'm happy to trust the tech but you have no choice but to trust the tech without a clear picture of the ball fully across the line

Naamloze vennootschap (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 15 June 2014 20:10 (nine years ago) link

Pearce is a moron. Keown got there in the end.

Wristy Hurlington (ShariVari), Sunday, 15 June 2014 20:10 (nine years ago) link

caek, Sunday, 15 June 2014 20:11 (nine years ago) link

How is a commentator confused so easily that he can't grasp there were two separate incidents measured by the device?

Daniwa, guys! Daniwa! (aldo), Sunday, 15 June 2014 20:11 (nine years ago) link

Naamloze vennootschap (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 15 June 2014 20:12 (nine years ago) link

dn/ac (darraghmac), Sunday, 15 June 2014 20:12 (nine years ago) link

that is exactly the kind of situation goal line technology is designed for because there's no way the ref would have been able to call it

Number None, Sunday, 15 June 2014 20:12 (nine years ago) link

This is just straight thuggery

imago will be pleased

pandemic, Sunday, 15 June 2014 20:12 (nine years ago) link

lol old people and technology, pearce and goal line tech like trying to teach my dad how to use an iphone

caek, Sunday, 15 June 2014 20:12 (nine years ago) link

I did like how he managed to make it the fault of the Germans in the end.

Daniwa, guys! Daniwa! (aldo), Sunday, 15 June 2014 20:13 (nine years ago) link

Pearce is a fucking idiot, doesn't even recognise an o.g. When he sees one.

ewar woowar (or something), Sunday, 15 June 2014 20:13 (nine years ago) link

"not good enough" - a man with an iq of 85

caek, Sunday, 15 June 2014 20:14 (nine years ago) link

dn/ac (darraghmac), Sunday, 15 June 2014 20:15 (nine years ago) link

i mean i'm sure he's played at some point in his life but

Naamloze vennootschap (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 15 June 2014 20:17 (nine years ago) link

now blaming the local director

pandemic, Sunday, 15 June 2014 20:17 (nine years ago) link

Pearce just called a linesman the referee too now, send him on the first plain back. Or to itv.

ewar woowar (or something), Sunday, 15 June 2014 20:18 (nine years ago) link

historians will analyse this game to identify the exact moment when Jonathan Pearce's brain broke and turned into the brain of Alan Green

random accies memories (Sgt. Biscuits), Sunday, 15 June 2014 20:18 (nine years ago) link

Pearce the second biggest disaster of this World Cup after the official McDonald's fantasy league.

ewar woowar (or something), Sunday, 15 June 2014 20:19 (nine years ago) link

he should genuinely be sacked for that shit. Embarrassing

Number None, Sunday, 15 June 2014 20:19 (nine years ago) link

Lol 'he's more of a man really'

Blandford Forum, Sunday, 15 June 2014 20:19 (nine years ago) link

pat nevin - "I don't think it has gone over the line. I am disagreeing with the technology. That is not a goal."

Where does the bbc find these idiots?

pandemic, Sunday, 15 June 2014 20:19 (nine years ago) link

bring back phil novocaine

john wahey (NickB), Sunday, 15 June 2014 20:20 (nine years ago) link

this of course hot on the heels of Tyldsley's own marathon session of inexplicable denial re: the rationale for the Uruguay penalty

random accies memories (Sgt. Biscuits), Sunday, 15 June 2014 20:20 (nine years ago) link

saying players have aspects of ability "in their locker" is something Keown has in his locker

Kiss Screaming Seagull Her Seagull Her (DJ Mencap), Sunday, 15 June 2014 20:20 (nine years ago) link

Lineker all doing This Facial Expression when they cut back, solemnly apologising for the issues with Jonathan Pearce

random accies memories (Sgt. Biscuits), Sunday, 15 June 2014 20:21 (nine years ago) link

Richard Keys @richardajkeys
That wasn't in. At any time. Told you this technology wasn't fool proof.

Number None, Sunday, 15 June 2014 20:21 (nine years ago) link

I think he ended up saying Izzy had "stupid" in his locker.

Maurice Malpas Holiday Jotter Blues (onimo), Sunday, 15 June 2014 20:21 (nine years ago) link

If it's not good enough for Keyesey it's good enough for me.

Maurice Malpas Holiday Jotter Blues (onimo), Sunday, 15 June 2014 20:22 (nine years ago) link

there's this desperation to manufacture refereeing controversy and break it down to "moments". the idea that the likes of robbie savage might be required to organize their thoughts in paragraphs and analyse formation, tactics, etc. induces utter panic.

caek, Sunday, 15 June 2014 20:22 (nine years ago) link

what debate pearce you fool?

pearce AGAIN

pandemic, Sunday, 15 June 2014 20:23 (nine years ago) link

cajunsunday, Sunday, 15 June 2014 20:23 (nine years ago) link

He. Did. Not.

ewar woowar (or something), Sunday, 15 June 2014 20:23 (nine years ago) link

Never expected this to be the drama of the night.

ewar woowar (or something), Sunday, 15 June 2014 20:23 (nine years ago) link

Blandford Forum, Sunday, 15 June 2014 20:24 (nine years ago) link

so is that 3 nil or 2 nil to france jonathon?

pandemic, Sunday, 15 June 2014 20:24 (nine years ago) link

Pearce number one worldwide trend on twitter, just throw him under the bus and start scrolling the tweets across the screen

random accies memories (Sgt. Biscuits), Sunday, 15 June 2014 20:24 (nine years ago) link

'Martin'

Blandford Forum, Sunday, 15 June 2014 20:24 (nine years ago) link

saying players have aspects of ability "in their locker" is something Keown has in his locker

alongside the five month-old ginsters and a poster of lucy pinder

john wahey (NickB), Sunday, 15 June 2014 20:24 (nine years ago) link

now isn't the time for a philosophy sesh and god knows i am not defending the existence of Keys or Nevin but the problem with goal-line tech is that it is still susceptible of doubt, albeit a degree of doubt most likely to be found amongst the exceptionally bovine, but those were the people that liked arguing the toss about technology in the first people

Naamloze vennootschap (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 15 June 2014 20:24 (nine years ago) link

'Martin I'm scared'

Blandford Forum, Sunday, 15 June 2014 20:24 (nine years ago) link

yeah I'm personally speeding ahead on the curve and am at the point of sympathetic solidarity with Pearce's night of blunders
