Aw falcao is there
― pandemic, Saturday, 14 June 2014 15:52 (nine years ago) link
Bacca was p good for Sevilla in EL last year. How good is Jackson Martinez?
― pandemic, Saturday, 14 June 2014 15:55 (nine years ago) link
Blimey neither are starting plus Adrian Ramos on the bench and Falcao injured. Germany could use one of that lot.
― pandemic, Saturday, 14 June 2014 15:56 (nine years ago) link
Columbia 3-1 Greece.
― xelab, Saturday, 14 June 2014 15:57 (nine years ago) link
Zonal Marking was gloriously derisive of Samoras in his preview piece.
― pandemic, Saturday, 14 June 2014 15:58 (nine years ago) link
Columbia 2:1 Samaras
― Maurice Malpas Holiday Jotter Blues (onimo), Saturday, 14 June 2014 15:59 (nine years ago) link
Gutierrez is good as a lone striker but I'd expect to see both at some point. Sokratis' fitness could be crucial.
― Wristy Hurlington (ShariVari), Saturday, 14 June 2014 16:00 (nine years ago) link
Mostly OTM though :-(
On the left is Georgios Samaras, one of the most confusing players in the competition. Considered a striker at the start of his career, Samaras’ international goalscoring record is truly terrible – 8 in 74, including 0 in 10 during qualification. He plays an odd role on the left, playing surprisingly deep, but bringing his centre-forward qualities to that position by relentlessly coming short and holding up the ball, which is usually followed by him either being dispossessed, or playing an unambitious backwards pass.
(and I *like* Samaras)

I really hope that all the Americans who are just getting into football for the World Cup are ready for non-stop rollercoaster that is watching Greece.
― Matt DC, Saturday, 14 June 2014 16:01 (nine years ago) link
feel bad for greece theyve had a tuff go of it
― lag∞n, Saturday, 14 June 2014 16:01 (nine years ago) link
Hope James Rodriguez is on it today.
― pandemic, Saturday, 14 June 2014 16:02 (nine years ago) link
Ninis was the last best hope for Greece not being grindingly awful to watch but he hasn't fulfilled much of his promise and missed the cut.

Pea rollers into the corner of the goal is a great theme for the tournament.

Obviously waiting on England for the first dull game.

Awesome celebration
― everyday sheeple (Michael B), Saturday, 14 June 2014 16:06 (nine years ago) link
Last time Greece went behind in the World Cup they continued to play with ten men behind the ball while theoretically chasing the game. But this is really the best thing that can happen for a neutral.
― Matt DC, Saturday, 14 June 2014 16:07 (nine years ago) link
lol i love this game already

Greece have just got absolutely nothing on the ball, they had about 4 opportunities to do something in that 90 second spell round the box and it ended up with the centre backs.
― Windsor Davies, Saturday, 14 June 2014 16:26 (nine years ago) link
This is kind of a perfect morning match for me after a work heavy week -- no investment in either team, not much happening and I can just lazily watch and wake up a bit more.
― Ned Raggett, Saturday, 14 June 2014 16:30 (nine years ago) link
Samaras's career is one of the great mysteries of modern football
