dn/ac (darraghmac), Saturday, 7 June 2014 09:20 (nine years ago) link

totally gutted about reus. he was fantastic in the 2nd half of the season. :(

pandemic, Saturday, 7 June 2014 09:57 (nine years ago) link

also absurd that france lose ribery and grenier but still refuse to pick nasri

pandemic, Saturday, 7 June 2014 10:17 (nine years ago) link

yeah but it's Nasri

Number None, Saturday, 7 June 2014 10:20 (nine years ago) link

is he really unmanageable?

pandemic, Saturday, 7 June 2014 10:31 (nine years ago) link

I think he's just a bit of a prick

Number None, Saturday, 7 June 2014 10:38 (nine years ago) link

nah he's world class

dn/ac (darraghmac), Saturday, 7 June 2014 10:50 (nine years ago) link

of a prick, like

dn/ac (darraghmac), Saturday, 7 June 2014 10:50 (nine years ago) link

honestly don't think Germany will do that well with or without Reus, the climate won't be a great match for their style imo

still mentally picture France in 2010 self-destruct mode so have no idea about them tbh

arid banter (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 7 June 2014 11:07 (nine years ago) link

Still not sure whether Germany will go high press Dortmund, or false 9 keep ball considering all the midfielders they have, many of whom have been playing pep-ball for a season.

pandemic, Saturday, 7 June 2014 11:39 (nine years ago) link

Yeah I've been wondering about how the climate will affect things and whether it will be conducive to exciting football. What are the temperatures like out there at the moment? Does it vary significantly from place to place? Kind of worried that extreme heat will benefit the teams who can sit deep, play possession football and conserve energy - could do without e.g. Spain having another extended run where they don't even try to score goals until the latter stages.

Windsor Davies, Saturday, 7 June 2014 11:45 (nine years ago) link

i love that shit tbh

arid banter (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 7 June 2014 11:50 (nine years ago) link

If Spain are gonna win really hope they go thru the knockout phase without conceding a goal. AGAIN.

pandemic, Saturday, 7 June 2014 11:56 (nine years ago) link

about france not picking nasri: deschamps said when he made his list that nasri would have been a sub had he picked him and that nasri prob would not be fine with that. there's also rumours about him being a dick yes. so nasri wasn't in the 30 names and now he can't be picked since you can replace players only from your pre-list of 30.

Jibe, Saturday, 7 June 2014 12:00 (nine years ago) link

Yeah and tbh there was (unusual when it comes to these things) consensus that he was right not picking him

licorice oratorio (baaderonixx), Saturday, 7 June 2014 13:24 (nine years ago) link

Does it vary significantly from place to place?

Yes, the game sites are in vastly different climates AFAIK.

Kiarostami bag (milo z), Saturday, 7 June 2014 16:40 (nine years ago) link

Manaus will be the toughest one. Very hot and potentially very humid.

Wristy Hurlington (ShariVari), Saturday, 7 June 2014 16:50 (nine years ago) link

which is why i did the headinhands.jpg when Scholes was all "we shd totally go and play like Liverpool"

arid banter (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 7 June 2014 17:13 (nine years ago) link

r|t|c, Saturday, 7 June 2014 17:22 (nine years ago) link

Alan Green didn't think we shd "waste" Rooney on marking him

arid banter (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 7 June 2014 20:09 (nine years ago) link

England game suspended by lightning, Belgium game suspended by giant hailstones. Going with rain of frogs for USA vs Nigeria.

dn/ac (darraghmac), Sunday, 8 June 2014 20:52 (nine years ago) link

is there a channel other than bbc and itv showing this in the uk

Who whom kissed? (imago), Sunday, 8 June 2014 20:58 (nine years ago) link

you'll have to provide good streams. would probably favour the USA commentators for English-language streaming

Who whom kissed? (imago), Sunday, 8 June 2014 20:59 (nine years ago) link

BBC usually provide a 5 Live commentary option. Dunno if that's any better

or you always use a proxy and try the RTE player, although the actual match commentators are as bad if not worse

Number None, Sunday, 8 June 2014 22:38 (nine years ago) link

WatchESPN and ESPN3 will have everything, I know of ppl who are not in the USA using it over VPNs or proxies but idk how that works exactly

Former Brazil and Middlesbrough midfielder Juninho is another addition. Crystal Palace manager Tony Pulis and Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper and former USA international Brad Friedel are new signings for the Radio 5 live punditry team along with Celtic manager and former Northern Ireland midfielder Neil Lennon, who will have a combined role across TV and radio.
