no more fun ;_;

David R., Monday, 14 May 2007 13:05 (sixteen years ago) link

I'm realizing that the diff between Current Peyton & Hot College Peyton is the same difference between Vince Vaughn thru most of The Break-Up, and Vince Vaughn @ the end of The Break-Up.

David R., Monday, 14 May 2007 13:07 (sixteen years ago) link

I now realize that some readers might be put off by including Vince Vaughn in my discussion of hotness, and I apologize.

David R., Monday, 14 May 2007 14:30 (sixteen years ago) link

no, you're totally otm, Dave R! except for the part where I've never seen The Breakup, so I'm just substituting Vince Vaughn whenever Swingers came out and Vince Vaughn post-whenever Swingers came out. but it totally works! except Peyton didn't get puffy, really, and I doubt hard living's the culprit in Peyton's case, but still! I see what you're saying.

horseshoe, Thursday, 17 May 2007 07:03 (sixteen years ago) link

guys i kind of hope hard living is actually the story behind what happened to peyton manning, i would like that story VERY VERY much actually.

the schef (adam schefter ha ha), Friday, 25 May 2007 14:08 (sixteen years ago) link

Hard living = 95% of the US sports media up your ass like Lemmywinks about not being able to win the Big Game. Also, chasing Eli around.

three months pass...

peter king's top 15 list:

9. Green Bay (2-0): Play of the day: Brett Favre, 37, double-pumps under pressure to avoid a deflection, then lays a perfectly led three-yard out pattern into the hands of Donald Lee. Thing of beauty. That capped a 9-of-9 drive that made Favre look like he was 27, not 37.

omar little, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 00:53 (sixteen years ago) link

I want Peter King to have as much fun as Brett Farve is having.

horseshoe, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 16:41 (sixteen years ago) link

:D

well this guy used to be a bartender in alabama (? is that where the big "everyone in sports goes here" physical rehab facility is?). one night brett favre shows up at their club. the bouncer, who is apparently a v short man, asks for his id, to which favre replies, "psht. you know who i am." the bouncer says something along the lines of, "i don't care who you are. i need your id." favre gets kind of stroppy about this, repeating that the guy obviously knows who he is, so on and so forth. favre, still refusing to show id for god knows what reason, proceeds to push past the short bouncer to get into the club. the bouncer then picks up favre, literally, and hurls him out of the club, telling him to come back when he has an id.

the end :D

El Tomboto, Tuesday, 18 September 2007 17:54 (sixteen years ago) link

"People say, 'What is the secret?'" Favre said of NFL's third-longest streak for consecutive starts. "Well, there is no secret. I think there are several factors, luck being a big part of that, maybe the biggest factor. If you play long enough, you figure at some point something is going to keep you out of the game: flu, sprained ankle, broken bone, whatever."

dr z says:

Green Bay Packers (2-0)
Mike McCarthy, the coach, said he wanted Brett Favre to show more consistency, which means a higher completion percentage, this year. Against the Giants he completed 76.3 percent (29-for-38) , aided largely by 14 straight at the start of the second half. He's normally not a high percentage thrower. The last time he topped Sunday's mark was in Game 6 against Minnesota in 2005 (28 for 36 for 77.8), 28 contests ago. See that, you tell the kid to do something and he does it. Who says he's not coachable?

jay mariotti:

``Football Night in America'' was a Dark Night in Chicago. Not only have the Cowboys replaced the Bears as conference favorites, the Packers are 3-0 and two games up in the NFC North. Grossman's inconsistency is more maddening when juxtaposed aganst the verve of Brett Favre, who is 37 going on 17 and back as the league's biggest feel-good story. Earlier, Favre whipped a game-winning pass that would have cut through a concrete barrier. It was a howitzer throw, leading wideout Greg Jennings perfectly on an inside slant and sprint for a 57-yard touchdown. You know what this means, I know what this means.

jhøshea, Monday, 24 September 2007 17:29 (sixteen years ago) link

17yo is kinda young. "He's playing like a high schooler" isn't really a compliment.

polyphonic, Monday, 24 September 2007 17:32 (sixteen years ago) link

"he's playing like a pop warner player" wouldn't be really accurate tho.

god i hate brett favre. i'm going to have to watch him break the TD record this week.

M@tt He1ges0n, Tuesday, 25 September 2007 17:41 (sixteen years ago) link

a guy my dad grew up with played for the packers and i guess the golden boy had a snootful and was acting on a sense of entitlement with someone else's date. things escalated and my dad stepped in to tell everyone to either shut the fuck up or take it to the parking lot when hornung clocked him.

true story my Mom was the director of corporate giving for a pretty well known company in Wisconsin and he apparently tried to pull the exact same scam here. she didn't tell me for months afterwards though because she knew I was a big Packer fan lol
