I like yr attitude, Vahid! How are the LVCs btw? I was thinking about a pair, but the Japanese seem to be kicking everyone's ass on the denim front these days.

ALLAH FROG (Mingus Dew), Saturday, 23 September 2006 06:17 (seventeen years ago) link

they are gorgeous. the denim is just ... insane. so much texture, such a gorgeous indigo.

thing is they are shrink-to-fit, but i bought them fairly tight because all of my other raw jeans have stretched about two or three inches. i wonder if i should have bought them too big and done a cold soak to shrink them ... i don't know, i guess i just chickened out on the idea of buying these huge jeans and spending all that time crouched in the bathtub waiting for them to dry on my legs and shrink to the perfect fit.

problem is, if these DON'T stretch, i am going to be the owner of some tight-ass jeans.

what would be ideal is if they stretched a bit, but not too much. then i'll just wear them unwashed FOREVER.

the LVCs seemed like a good alternative to japanese jeans, they are priced about a bill cheaper. i can justify paying $150 for a good super-classic pair of jeans that i can wear for a few years straight but when i catch myself looking at any item of clothing that costs $200 and over and isn't a suit i start to wonder at my priorities in life.

the art ensemble of chicago house (vahid), Saturday, 23 September 2006 06:26 (seventeen years ago) link

and if it will wreck my dirtbag image

the art ensemble of chicago house (vahid), Saturday, 23 September 2006 06:27 (seventeen years ago) link

I'd bet the LVCs should stretch out fine, but if not, can always soak the waist and stretch them some yourself. There are some nice brands of Japanese jeans for around $200ish a pair, but I know what you mean about the price..I justified the cost of my Eternals and Samurais by the fact they should last quite a long time.

Despite the cost, the way these are worn is in keeping with the dirtbag thing, I say. If they were some sort of designer predistressed denim, I would turn in my dirtbag card though!

holy crap, this has made me realise that i've never washed my car. i got it around Xmas 2004. will it spectacularly fall apart one day, like a clownmobile?

ANYWAY is possibly my favourite response for entertainment value by people to things, but only if followed up on, otherwise, y'know, why even say it (baiting, baiting)

rrrobyn, the situation (rrrobyn), Saturday, 23 September 2006 07:52 (seventeen years ago) link

my car is a disaster!.. bag of plastic containers in the trunk for recycling (my office doesn't recycle plastic so I had to take it with me), and a couple of apple cores on the floor.. I think there's a banana peel from yesterday.. gotta clean that. definitely have piles of clothes all over in my room. it's hard to stay on top of cleaning everything when the job is stressful, commute annoying, no energy most evenings when I get home.

There was a long string of cobweb hanging over our bed for months. We used to lie there blowing it to watch it dance.

a name means a lot just by itself (lfam), Saturday, 23 September 2006 14:26 (seventeen years ago) link

A few months ago, because I was too lazy to get dressed and get my key and go to the bathroom on the floor, I took a poo into a garbage bag. Then I threw the garbage back down the chute, my floormates none the wiser.

Well, yesterday at 11:30 at night I had a similar problem. I had a stomach ache and I really didn't feel like getting dressed and fumbling around with my wallet, so I shat into another garbage bag.

Here's the twist.

The chute is completely blocked up. It's filled with trash, nothing can enter it, it's completely full. There's even a sign on it saying "DO NOT OPEN."

So, here I am with a bag of shit in my room. I put it in a suitcase in my closet. My room doesn't smell at all, but the closet is pretty stinky. This is awful and humiliating.

Hopefully the garbage chute will be cleared up tomorrow (I think tomorrow's a trash day)... Will my suitcase forever smell like poo? Or is the fact that it's in a garbage bag preventing that from happening?

I get all nervous when people come into my room. It's like the tell-tale heart.

we ain't got nothing on those guys

the art ensemble of chicago house (vahid), Saturday, 23 September 2006 14:56 (seventeen years ago) link

yeah that is fucking gross.

not exactly that dirty, but:
my roommate was throwing up after a long night, and i was trying to get to bed, but couldn't because i had to pee very badly. from the sounds escaping from the bathroom, it seemed like it was going to be a long, drawn out vomit. so i opened my window, cut a hole in the screen, and relieved myself that way. dirtbag or clever?

- barfed out of speeding taxi, in wintertime
- barfed into a bowl on a glass table, at a party, once
- barfed on friend's front hallway carpet (so. close. to. bathroom. but not there.), new year's a couple yrs ago, followed by five people helping me back down the stairs, getting into taxi with boyfriend, arriving in front of bf's home, telling boyfriend to fuck off and leave me alone, on the sidewalk, in the snow, where i was laying down
- barfed in sinks, showers, buckets, etc etc etc
- now: attempting cease and desist re booze, tho i don't barf anymore. which is almost worse, all that poison with no way out, destroying. how to cure dirtbag drinking ways?? shrooms, pot, yoga? mormonism, army, backhand to the face? harsh words, pregnancy, workaholicism? meh, s'ok.

rrrobyn, the situation (rrrobyn), Sunday, 24 September 2006 05:17 (seventeen years ago) link

my story is that i was 18, it was summer, and i decided to try to swim out to a kelp bed and realized i'd swum out past my limit.

WAAAAAAAAAY past my limit.

i started swimming in but there was a rip current and i ended up fighting the current for what seemed like an hour (probably more like 20 minutes) and eventually i stopped paying attention to what i was doing and when i finally ended up in the surf i was so exhausted that i got pounded and swallowed a ton of saltwater.

i walked off the beach and climbed into my car. it was a really hot day and i just sat there in the leather seats of my burgundy cressida, soaking up the warmth and burping a bit.

then i started the car and drove to the end of the street, turned on the coast hwy and drove for about five minutes. at the end of my street i pulled up on a traffic light and a sherriff rolled up next to my. i looked over at him, smiled, turned back to the wheel and puked a gallon of dirty saltwater all over my chest and lap and steering wheel.

the light turned green and i got home (he didn't follow me)
