Yep. The Epsilon Rising have obviously aborbed Debussy's finer works.

You misspelled 'aborted.'

latebloomer: a power and finesse vocalist (latebloomer), Saturday, 1 April 2006 00:47 (eighteen years ago) link

I noticed this a month or two ago on the raleigh craigslist. So he's been posting it widely.

Someone I forwarded it to pointed out how charming it is that they talk about *girlfreinds* who get in the way, making it obvious that female musicians are out of the question. I've contemplated it being a joke, but it's an awfully elaborate one if it is. And oddly coherent in a puff-of-green-smoke sort of way.

I just noticed that they've changed a paragraph from the version I read- here's the raleigh version:

"I will mention that this is not a "straight-edge band" nor "pro drug" band. We do weed smoke weed"

Seeking Exceptional Visionary Guitarist
We are a power and finesse vocalist/harmonica player/songwriter and a bassist/keyboardist/multi-instrumentalist seeking a guitarist of equal caliber (Jimmy Page) for an original and touring band. We will be touring Europe this summer.

I'm with latebloomer. It's a really funny joke. It has to be. Because I don't want to believe that there are people out there with such a thorough lack of any self-awareness whatsoever. Even though I've seen a great deal of evidence to the contrary.

i reckon this has Improv Everywhere dabs all over it.

Imagine, nay create, a band so pompostulously ridiculous that the over-the-topness attracts it's own ironically 'adoring' audience. It's like 'Our Best Gig Ever' but with the script flipped.

awesome - i'm digging Epsilon Rising. i'm there. trust.

Oh man I have known of this guy for about a year and a half before the legendary craigslist ads!!!!!!!!! For the longest time he was talking to my friend (back when we were looking for other band members)anyways, he wanted to pay for my friend to go to Sacramento and be their guitar player. The first time I heard their music, (She Be Mine) I was thinking what the hell is this??? The singer/Robert Plant wannabe, is not joking, right now he is in Europe! This is NOT at all an ellaborate joke of some kind, just a crazy black dude who thinks he's Robert Plant!!! He actually traveled to L.A. to meet my friend and my friend flaked on him. Recently about two weeks ago, my friend sent him an IM telling him about all the responses to his craigslist ads, well his response was that he is glad that people are reacting to his vision of music and paying attention to them. Revolution..........hahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!

Diagnostic Criteria: Narcissistic Personality Disorder (Megalomania)

1. Feels grandiose and self-important (e.g., exaggerates accomplishments, talents, skills, contacts, and personality traits to the point of lying, demands to be recognized as superior without commensurate achievements);

2. Is obsessed with fantasies of unlimited success, fame, fearsome power or omnipotence, unequaled brilliance (the cerebral narcissist), bodily beauty or sexual performance (the somatic narcissist), or ideal, everlasting, all-conquering love or passion;

3. Firmly convinced that they are unique and, being special, can only be understood by, should only be treated by, or associate with, other special or unique, or high-status people (or institutions);

4. Requires excessive admiration, adulation, attention and affirmation — or, failing that, wishes to be feared and to be notorious (narcissistic supply);

5. Feels entitled. Demands automatic and full compliance with their unreasonable expectations for special and favorable priority treatment.

6. Is "interpersonally exploitative", i.e., uses others to achieve their own ends.

I'm a musician who hasn't taken the time to write how I feel about things. Most of it is done in action, but reflection is a time honored tradition of those who embrace the elements that distiguish us from beast. I am very close to a wild animal. In fact, I am a man.

My band is The Epsilon Rising. I've mentioned music twice. It must be as important to me as beauty. I like cynicism. I love God. I love women. I love fully expressing myself without any fear of the consequences. I love poetry and risk.

And I wonder why I'm in Romania? It is a matter of choice, and I'm certain that time will tell me what I am searching for... (a great drummer and guitarist).
