I scored 23.

Phil Freeman (Phil Freeman), Monday, 23 February 2004 16:11 (twenty years ago) link

20, but I was being nice to myself. Catch me on a bad day and it could've been mentalist city.

udu wudu (udu wudu), Monday, 23 February 2004 16:21 (twenty years ago) link

8, and I'll second the question asked earlier whether scoring too low is bad as well.

Jedmond (Jedmond), Monday, 23 February 2004 16:22 (twenty years ago) link

37 big suprise (fuckup, married to a fuckup, our child actually is diagnosed as autistic, most of both our families are fuckups in some way)

Pashmina (Pashmina), Monday, 23 February 2004 16:30 (twenty years ago) link

i do know people with Aspergers so i would be interested to see how their scores compare with mine and anyone else over 28 pts

stevem (blueski), Monday, 23 February 2004 16:31 (twenty years ago) link

NickB - did you really get 54?

N. (nickdastoor), Monday, 23 February 2004 16:32 (twenty years ago) link

15, after somebody upthread with a score which may or may not be 30 asked me to do it.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Monday, 23 February 2004 16:39 (twenty years ago) link

I'd assume if yr score is low you are something of an extravert, possibly ADHD if you want a disease too.

christhamrin (christhamrin), Monday, 23 February 2004 16:41 (twenty years ago) link

NickB - did you really get 54?

Nah, I got 34 actually - still on the high side though...

NickB (NickB), Monday, 23 February 2004 16:44 (twenty years ago) link

If you forgot what your score was, you get to knock ten off...

mark grout (mark grout), Monday, 23 February 2004 16:45 (twenty years ago) link

13. no ADHD though - what I hate about these tests is there's no 'meh' category.

suzy (suzy), Monday, 23 February 2004 16:47 (twenty years ago) link

ADHD often comes along w/autistic spectrum disorder in the very young, as an aside. (x-post times several)

Pashmina (Pashmina), Monday, 23 February 2004 16:47 (twenty years ago) link

Yes, about the meh category. That's the case in a lot of multi-choice things.

Pashmina (Pashmina), Monday, 23 February 2004 16:48 (twenty years ago) link

I'd assume if yr score is low you are something of an extravert

yeah, i talk a lot and tend to be bad with numbers. i think this explains my lower score. otherwise i tend to rack up the points on "are you crazy?" tests, regardless of what disorder is under discussion.

lauren (laurenp), Monday, 23 February 2004 16:49 (twenty years ago) link

I don't think of myself as particularly extroverted, yet I scored quite lowly. I think it's more being a bit flakey rather than precise, being comfortable - rather than a show-off - around people.

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Monday, 23 February 2004 16:53 (twenty years ago) link

Fair enough.

I learned from ile recently that I might have aspergers because I said I get a weird sensation when I touch cotton balls (and do I! [yes, i do]) apparently having weird sense sensations is a symptom.

christhamrin (christhamrin), Monday, 23 February 2004 16:56 (twenty years ago) link

32. I kind of expected that.

9... and I'm bipolar.

martin m. (mushrush), Monday, 23 February 2004 18:14 (twenty years ago) link

36, but I don't think I'm autistic in the least, merely unhappy with socializing. I do have a bad habit of wasting lots of time studying patterns in things though; it's one of my worst habits when I'm reading something, that I start focusing on the spaces between the letters instead, and start seeing images there. I often think I could make a horrible painter if I had any talent for it, because of this constant pattern-seeking.

I dislike the term introverted, because for me it paints me the image of a smug gothy teenager, but I have always had a hard time with people, and it's only gotten worse over the years (to the extent that I'd break off the few friendships I had, because I didn't want to be in more social situations than I had to), so I guess that definition fits me much better than autist. Perhaps anti-social fits even better. Some day I will read more up on this sort of thing, to really groom my ego by trying to figure out "what sort of person" I am.

Achstein H-O (Øystein H-O), Monday, 23 February 2004 18:28 (twenty years ago) link

Read up about Asperger's Syndrome, which is basically a mild form of autism.

N. (nickdastoor), Monday, 23 February 2004 18:30 (twenty years ago) link

I had a link upthread. Wikipedia, good site.

christhamrin (christhamrin), Monday, 23 February 2004 18:40 (twenty years ago) link

29... definetly 29...

ModJ (ModJ), Monday, 23 February 2004 18:46 (twenty years ago) link

20. I was surprised it was that low -- I had been apprehensive about taking the test because I thought I'd get a high score.

v. disappointed as i have convinced myself for years that i have had full blown asperger's syndrome. i should be so lucky!

stirmonster, Monday, 23 February 2004 20:30 (twenty years ago) link

16, apparently. Interesting.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 23 February 2004 20:31 (twenty years ago) link

21.

I get the people that many "average" people who get around 16.4 either lie or are not able to realistically assess their feelings and abilities.

Why?

Sick Nouthall (Nick Southall), Monday, 23 February 2004 21:07 (twenty years ago) link

24, thought it would be higher...

Blood and sparkles (bloodandsparkles), Monday, 23 February 2004 21:12 (twenty years ago) link

I got 20. That's not a very interesting result, I'm disappointed. I like to stand out from the crowd - which is why I score high on narcissism tests.

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 23 February 2004 22:48 (twenty years ago) link

I guess unsurprisingly, almost all of the people on this thread I actually know in real life have had low scores.

N. (nickdastoor), Monday, 23 February 2004 22:53 (twenty years ago) link

"unsurprisingly"

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Monday, 23 February 2004 23:00 (twenty years ago) link

"real life"

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 23 February 2004 23:01 (twenty years ago) link

i got 37 by answering all the questions honestly. however, i doubt i am autistic or have aspergers or anything. i'm just not very good at conversation, hate socialising with people i'm not close to, and i'm good at remembering peoples phone numbers and license plates is all.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Monday, 23 February 2004 23:02 (twenty years ago) link

13, though i'm pretty good at numbers and in fact can remember almost any telephone number i've used more than once, it is my weird superpower.

s1ocki (slutsky), Monday, 23 February 2004 23:02 (twenty years ago) link

I can't understand why people seem to want higher scores than they got, or think that a high score would be a "better" thing to have.

I wasn't surprised by my score as I have displayed autistic tendencies since early childhood. I'd rather have had a lower score, but then that wouldn't be me. However, I might not have been the exception to the low-scoring people N. knows in real life.

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 23 February 2004 23:09 (twenty years ago) link

insufficiently autistic to take online test past question two, _definitely_ insufficiently autistic to score online autism test manually
