I think it is a homage to Ebbetts Field in Brooklyn that had an angle built into one of it's walls.

it's really great fun to watch.

The ugliest park in baseball is that piece of crap in Tampa. The Devilray uniforms are also terrible, which is saying something because they have like nine different ones they use.

Baseball sticks in vines on bleacher wall ... Double

This occasionally gives the outfielder a (figurative) "out"; often, long drives to the wall become triples, especially if the batter's got much speed. But if the ball lodges in the vines, the fielder can raise his hands in surrender, even if he can see the ball perfectly well, and the batter is limited to a double.

Funny, a ball stuck in the not-yet-leafing ivy against the Reds a couple weeks back. The ball was clearly visible, and Adam Dunn raised his hands and the 2B umpire pointed to the ball and let (I think) Aramis Ramirez run around the bases for probably the only triple he'll ever get.

How Lou Gorman thought having a pitching staff w/ Clemens, Mike Boddicker, and toejam would do a damn thing boggles my parchessi.

then he winds up SIGNING mcgee 5 years and 15 knee operations later. typical bosox.

he ended his career in texas of all places. 8 games, 8 games started less than 40 innings pitched and an era over 7.10. a sad end to the ace of the bosox postseason in '86.
