Not really - and that's why we're not using them. But I'm still calling dibs!!!

darin (darin), Thursday, 21 September 2006 06:20 (seventeen years ago) link

I wish I had called dibs on "The Locofocos," but apparently there's some shit alt-country band by that name. I'm trying to convince my bandmates that we should call ourselves "The Locofocos UK."

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Friday, 22 September 2006 00:26 (seventeen years ago) link

Jordan (Jordan), Friday, 22 September 2006 13:59 (seventeen years ago) link

it's not a giant steps ref is it? i mean either way i'm siding with "keep it" but i'm afraid that way more so

tom west (thomp), Friday, 22 September 2006 15:43 (seventeen years ago) link

in standard english usage one can use "checking out the talent" to mean "ogling the ladies of this particular geographical location". so i wanted to start a band called 'the talent'. then someone pointed out why that wasn't a good idea. so this is me calling no dibs at all on 'the talent'.

tom west (thomp), Friday, 22 September 2006 15:44 (seventeen years ago) link

It's a Love Supreme ref.

Jordan (Jordan), Friday, 22 September 2006 15:56 (seventeen years ago) link

Tom, I've usually heard it used as "the local talent", which would be an interesting band name, maybe.

Casuistry (Chris P), Friday, 22 September 2006 16:34 (seventeen years ago) link

There's a local jazz-fusion band called "STEAK DINNER" so that people who see signs outside their venues will see "STEAK DINNER: $5." I don't know how many people have been pissed off because of this.
