Also I welcome Elvis Telecom's contribution but I fear he may not post. I mean, I don't exactly see him around on a regular basis anymore if I ever did. Let's hope we can draw him out of the woodwork.

Steve Kilbey is the singer, bassist and main lyricist of the legendary Australian band, The Church.
Over the span of 30 years, Kilbey has been one of the most prolific songwriters of our generation. In addition to collaborations and side-projects such as Jack Frost (late Grant McLennan of the Go-Betweens), Isidore (Jeffrey Cain of Remy Zero) and Martin Kennedy (of All-India Radio) to name a few, Kilbey has also had a long prolific career as a solo artists as well.

As well as a very accomplished poet and painter. Kilbey's own creative musical tally outside of The Church includes seven solo albums and numerous collaborative projects and production credits which concluded with 2009's critically acclaimed 7th studio album Painkiller.

In celebration of the church's 30th anniversary, we are proud to announce a full remaster/reissue campaign for frontman Steve Kilbey's entire solo catalog. This starts with 1986's debut solo album Unearthed to 2001's Dabble, all digitally remastered and available in newly formatted digipak packaging. Eight CDs in total.

This limited edition (1,000 copies only) 8-disc Box Set entitled "monsters n mirages" also includes a 28-page booklet with Kilbey writing extensive liner notes on every album, as well as 28 exclusive rare tracks from two discs entitled "Artifacts" and "Freaky Conclusions" that are not available as individual titles and only here to this limited release.

so what's the quality of kilbey's solo stuff like? I really like the Church, so I could see myself dropping $100 for this... unless they're all terrible!

one year passes...

I have consistently enjoyed Unearthed since I bought the cassette in high school, but I gave away the (super cool clear vinyl!) version of Earthed that I had to another Church fan years ago.

Honestly though I revived this thread to say that Unearthed is perfect "tootling through the afternoon working on this and that" sort of music. I'd recommend it to you, f. hazel...almost 2 years after you asked this question.

eight years pass...

I am thrilled to find that Unearthed is back on Spotify, after being gone for a few years. They also have both albums by Hex, his excellent collaboration with Donnette Thayer from Game Theory - do check those out, they've long been favorites of mine.
