You're absolutely right. Can all threads mentioning what a complete arse Tim Culley is please use his full name in future? Thanks.

Moderator, Wednesday, 10 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

was BB any good tonight? I missed it because I was watching Minority Report.

jel --, Wednesday, 10 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

no spoilers jel!! i am seeing it wiv sistrah becky and dr vick on sat b4 the latter goes to CHINA on sunday for to set up "Quack International" (hence partial absence from TrigBruv, times not yet clear)

Tim in "i am not arrogant" shockah!!

mark s, Wednesday, 10 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

mark! don't read the minority report thread!

jel --, Thursday, 11 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

Elizabeth (BB2) was in the crappy tapas bar i was in last night!

Alan Trewartha, Thursday, 11 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

Was she with her EXCEEDINGLY OLD boyfriend, Alan?

Tim didn't say 'I'm not arrogant', he said 'I don't think I've portrayed myself as arrogant' which is a trillion times worse. If I have to watch his miserable, milk-curdling face sneer at the others for much longer I will become homicidal. The way he talked about Kate made me want to punch him hard and repeatedly. Twat.

Emma, Thursday, 11 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

it was a much younger model of boyf -- though they looked like "just friends" (if you ask me). I still haven't seen any evidence for the much discussed "New Kate". i guess watching one ep a week somewhere mid-week isn't going to keep me up on the vicissitudes of BB personalities really is it.

(Sorry for using vicissitudes there -- I'll get jejune into a thread later on)

Alan Trewartha, Thursday, 11 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

Final nominations will be interesting, I think Tim will be up...

Alex nominates Jade and Jonny
Tim nominates Kate and Jonny
Kate nominates Tim and Jade
Jonny nominates Alex and Tim
Jade nominates Tim and Alex (you can't guess with her!)

So, I reckon a Jonny vs. Alex vs Tim smackdown.

Though, there'll probably be another of those stupid see a video from your family things.

jel --, Thursday, 11 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

Tim is the bookies' favourite to go next week. Phew. My colleague reckons his hair is taking on a more and more gingery sheen. We have been bitching about Tim esp. his car-related macho bullshittery.

Emma, Thursday, 11 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

(His = Tim's, not colleague's).

Emma, Thursday, 11 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

tim: "i'm on cruise control from here on in"

mark s, Thursday, 11 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

I reckon Tim is steering a course to public loathing and should put the brakes on his twattish behaviour as he is on collision course for a pit stop from his time in the house (etc etc more atrocious motoring stuff).

Emma, Thursday, 11 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

Alex joining in with car nonsense is disappointing, though maybe he's just being friendly.

Tim: "Alex, I don't think any haircut products will look good in your hair, let's be honest", not said as a joke I don't think.

Graham, Thursday, 11 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

I think you misheard - I thought he said 'oh Alex any hair products would look good in your hair', a nauseating, sucky uppy attempt to compliment Alex.

Emma, Thursday, 11 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

I prefer my haircare monopolist interpretation, but I suppose that sounds more plausible.

(David, if you're going to use a fake email, can you switch off notification when you start threads)

Graham, Thursday, 11 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

Emma's is the korrect interpretation - Tim was showing an INTENSE interest in the hair spray stuff 'cos he thought Alex might got hold of some black hair dye!

I'm afraid that Alex was a well-established car bore long before that fucker Tim entered the BB house.

Andrew L, Thursday, 11 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

Yeah, in his audition vid he was driving in his car. He loves that car.

Emma, Thursday, 11 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

As I have often said Tim brings out the worst in Alex. And I agree with everyone else that he was being particularly cuntish yesterday.

I was asking last night - do you think there is anyone in the country who likes Tim (who did not previously know him)? Or even who thinks Tim is the best of a bad lot? Because the kind of arch-snobs who would back him by rote probably aren't even watching vulgar BB.

Tom, Thursday, 11 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

Do people like Tim like each other, though? Aren't they all intense rivals?

Graham, Thursday, 11 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

Is Tim really a snob? Or has he just resorted to snobbery in a vain attempt to give himself SOME kind of personality?

I mean remember when Alex tried to become Nasty Alex instead of Control Freak Hygiene obsessed Alex? Isn't this the same, ie Tim is just saying "oh they're all idiots" as sour grapes because noone likes him and he possibly realises he is coming across as a twat.

NB-I think this is worse than being a snob pure and simple.

Ronan, Thursday, 11 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

"I don't think I've portrayed myself as arrogant"

Graham, Thursday, 11 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

Oh but he's not going to come out and say "I think I've portrayed myself as a twat" is he. And it's not so much a question of how he thinks he's acted rather how he thinks the public thinks he's acted.

Ronan, Thursday, 11 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

But Ronan they don't all hate him! When he first went in most of them were quite nice about him, I remember a few (misguided) conversations along the lines of 'Tim's a nice bloke isn't he?' No one in the house has been even nearly as nasty about him as he's been about them (esp. his tirade against Kate - 'she's easy'!? Hello?). I don't think he's smart enough or self aware enough to realise what an utter twat he is 'portraying' himself as.

Emma, Thursday, 11 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

Well you say that Ronan but PJ has that kind of self-knowledge - he's often said that the public will be judging him based on stuff he's said about/done with women.

Tom, Thursday, 11 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

I want the geordie narrator to call them all a bunch of cockfarmers. (a word that works v well with the accent). "Daaaay fowerty-six, and everyone in the big bruthah house is a miserable cockfaaarmah. Pee- Jaaaay has called Kay-uht and Jay-ud twunts and is now cry-in like a gurl"

Alan Trewartha, Thursday, 11 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

Oh they never really liked him, I mean sure they said he was a nice bloke but he never really formed any friendships did he?

I'm not defending him I just think that he may have reacted to this consciously or not by just being mean etc, as I say, with some kind of better to be hated than just boring old Tim type philosophy.

Ronan, Thursday, 11 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

I suppose being on his own on the rich side for a week didn't help. I doubt that Kate realises just how much he despises her. Perhaps this is one of the reasons I am liking Kate more lately?

Emma, Thursday, 11 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

I thought she was the only one who got on with him at first, following her breaking her sunglasses and him giving her a hug, that was very touching.

Ronan, Thursday, 11 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

Don't let Sarah hear you say that

Matt, Thursday, 11 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

Yes well Ronan as I said it's HIM hating HER, I'm not sure what she thinks about him now. I've not heard her talking about him and I think if she knew some of the things he's been saying in the diary room she would be pretty pissed off.

Emma, Thursday, 11 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

(Yes this is all a bit confused, I meant I liked her more cos I had sympathy with her after the things Tim was saying, I didn't mean to imply she disliked Tim and therefore I liked her more cos I respected her judgment.)

Emma, Thursday, 11 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

yeah i know that's what you meant, yes it will be quite a shock for her I think. I just want to see what this Yo Hanna woman is like, have the tabloids got hold of her?

Ronan, Thursday, 11 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

What's Tim bee saying in the diary room? I watched pretty much every episode, often twice, and I still miss so much. GRRR

Graham, Thursday, 11 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

He's been saying that Kate's no better than she ought to be.

Tom, Thursday, 11 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

He singled her out for a total character demolition & called her 'easy' which made me shudder with horror.

Johanna was on BBLB just before Tim went in. I thought she was pretty mingy but I suppose some people go for that whole scraggy blonde thing.

Emma, Thursday, 11 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

Yes Kate fans ha ha.

Tom, Thursday, 11 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

I think we have different definitions of scraggy Tom. Have you seen Tim's girlfriend? As far as I can remember she looks quite scary in a sort of Amazonian athlete type way.

Emma, Thursday, 11 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

I can't remember having come across the word "scraggy" actually so I made up a definition allowing me to make a joke.

Tom, Thursday, 11 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

I was watching some of the live feed for twenty minutes this morning, Alex has had to see a dentist and is obsessively using mouthwash now, plus Jade has ear and head ache (poor love's been trying to think again). Plus she had a bit of an emotional moment last night.

Dammit, I thought I'd escaped its clutches this year, grrrrr.

chris, Thursday, 11 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

scraggy blondes and amazonian athletes, mmmm.

Alan Trewartha, Thursday, 11 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

What was the emotional moment?

Ronan, Thursday, 11 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

It was Kate who called Tim arrogant (according to Tim in the diary room - I didn't see/hear her say it), hence his comments abt not 'portraying' himself as arrogant and what a woman of loose virtue Kate was. I think Tim is jealous of the fact that the nearest thing he had to a friend in the house - Alex - is now all bum-biting friendly w/ his sworn enemy Kate.

Andrew L, Thursday, 11 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

sorry about that, just had a Xena moment

Alan Trewartha, Thursday, 11 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

Jade went into the bedroom, Johnny followed only to find her blubbing about how she misses all her mates and how PJ thinks she's a two- faced cow and how everyone is talking about her. Johnny calms her down and assures her that she's over-reacting, meanwhile, all the others are on the sofa talking about her and her "instability". The words "socially inept" were mentioned too iirc.

chris, Thursday, 11 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

awwwww

Graham, Thursday, 11 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

i was thinking of gabrielle, but now you mention it Cheryl Baker^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H Kate does have a Callisto vibe. i think i was thinking of the blondeness being scraggy too.

Alan Trewartha, Thursday, 11 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

dg, is that the stuck up wanker from BB3 you mentioned there?

chris, Thursday, 11 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

dg? sorry Graham.

chris, Thursday, 11 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

I like the way Kate was trying to get Jade to admit that she is a two- faced little cow (or pig or whatever farmyard animal you prefer) in a gentle sort of way but she wouldn't. That Jade eh. I think she has grown up a bit in the house but nowhere near enough.

Emma, Thursday, 11 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

Emma, I love your meritocratic attitude to Jade. Like you want to love her but not until she PULLS HER SOCKS UP.

Graham, Thursday, 11 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

Well I find it hard to really HATE her but I don't really like her. But I think it's just cos she's immature and she could go either way i.e. either a sweet lovely person or a wicked nasty person.

Emma, Thursday, 11 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

alexander cockburn once compared reagan to george washington: "GW said he 'could not tell a lie' -> Reagan goes one better than this, he cannot tell a lie and he cannot tell the truth!" I think Jade is in similar territory: she is (very nearly) a lifeforce of pure energy, unbothered by the disnctions we humans dully make, fact, fiction blah blah. I kind of wonder what *she* means by lie when she says she does not like ppl who lie.

mark s, Thursday, 11 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

i firmly believe that children are not actually conscious in the same way as people (note also children are not people). Jade is still not a fully qualified person. that is why her utterances are so incoherent. i keep expecting her to go "look, fire truck! shiny fire truck"

Alan Trewartha, Thursday, 11 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

For the final week, I want there to be a twist and the public gets to vote to replace one of the housemates with a BB star from series1...Darren to come back into the house, that would be great. I miss him talking to the chickens.

jel --, Thursday, 11 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

Yeah, if I had to vote for a winner this year I'd ask if I could vote for Anna from BB1 again cos she's better than this lot.

Pete, Thursday, 11 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

Does anyone remember any of the housemates from BB2? Apart from Helen? I certainly don't i had that on E4 constantly.

Graham, Thursday, 11 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

Oh yeah. Dean. A man of such mesmerising dullness I had difficulty convincing myself that he existed. Beyond an art form, beyond any value-based notion of worth. Beyond any system I had in place for judging boring people. He was fascinating.

Matt, Thursday, 11 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

For the 1st time there seems to be a general consensus (and not just on ILz) about not liking a BB 'charecter', and that's Tim. Even Graham Norton hates him, and he's been wrong about everyone so far. Does anyone have a good word to say about Tim?

I don't actually mind - or care - that he dyes his hair, and people going on about it has gotten very old very quickly. Er, that's it.

DavidM, Thursday, 11 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

You mean one egregious, star-fucking, wannabe media whore is slightly worse than another egregious, star-fucking, wannabe media whore? I might have to sit down to take this in. Oh, hang on, I am sat down. Oh dear.

Matt, Thursday, 11 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

1) They are all 12 CD people.

2) "Did you ever go to a love hotel?" strikes me as the most inappropriate question one could ask when sharing a bath (corner bath).

3) Poor Tim, "I'm a nice guy".

4) If I hear PJ say "she's really struggling" one more time, well, I guess I'll go "arrrrghhhhhh".

jel --, Thursday, 11 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

Can i say i like Tim (but i haven't watched the show even once).

Julio Desouza, Thursday, 11 July 2002 00:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

Was Kate being raped? That genuinely scared me.

TIM TIM you are so GRIM! I was abroad when BB3 was on so didnt know who this guy was? So when he asked me out on a date I thought he might have a nice personality so decided to say yes!
Can I just say then when that dim wit came out of the house I stupidly ended up back at his house, lucky for him I'm not some half wit from essex who chooses to sell my story to the star, but was a pissed up half wit whom after getting highly pissed (and I mean seriously intoxicated) ended up in the sac with him... he was a dirty, dirty boy and he rolled over after grunting afew times and fell asleep (after demanding me to say "nighty night")... he treated me like shit, wouldnt even speak to me in the morning, asked if he could use a vibrator he brought for Johanna on me (yuk) and basically made me feel like a cheap whore. Needless to say if i ever found out who this Johanna monky faced minger is I would like to tell her some home truths about her cheating shit, (I found out later he has a girlfriend) ... if anyone wants his email address of phone number I will will be happy to oblige (only if you promise to shout abuse at him and mock his hairstyle that looks like a fat ginger womans over grown fanny....)... please keep this site going as it is like therapy for me to know that I am not alone in thinking he is a true ASS BANDIT! I mean ASS HOLE!
Oh and how funny, when he picked me up in his sad car that he said makes him look like david hasslehoff (cause its like kit from night rider) (throw up) the first thing he said was
"and by the way I am not ginger"
and then repeatedly went on to say how much the public loves him...oh right tim, is that why you last week presented a small child a book as a prise at the upton water festival, woah the award was "the tweenies"....

The fact that a woman won/is in the lead/whatever in British BB just goes to show that British men are shit. Either that, or the average British male is the type of gossipy git that follows BB and affects the votes. (in Australia men win without fail because women are the main voters, and they hate the women they see on TV because they feel threatened or think that someone is yummy or some such bollocks)

Andrew (enneff), Monday, 9 September 2002 14:22 (twenty-one years ago) link

Men won the first two BBs in England too. But yes, we British men are shit.

On a nostalgic whim, I just bought the DVD of BB3 Uncut. Thanks for the memories! Watching the disc and reading some of these threads on here made me remember just how awful all the housemates last year were.
