"Bobby Ologun is a popular Japanese TV personality from Nigeria."

He's a clown though. The Japanese only find him amusing because of the fact that he reinforces the least flattering stereotypes of foreigners in general, and blacks in particular. Even if he's being "ironic", the joke is being lost on the public-at-large.

No argument here.

There's popular type of music in Nigeria called Fuji. And on the other side of that coin, some Japanese names really sound Nigerian, e.g. Odawara. I suspect I may not have answered your question.

Many of the hip-hop clothing stores in areas like Shibuya and Harajuku are owned (or at least operated) by Nigerians.

And Kawasaki, Chiba, Nagoya, Osaka, Fukuoka - everywhere really. A lot of those guys pretend to be from Brooklyn or Los Angeles because it increases their street cred with the Japanese girls who, bless their hearts, can't tell the difference between accents anyway.

I also saw black guys (dunno if Nigerian) selling reggae type tat/Bob Marley memorabilia around Harajuku

Yeah, this always cracks me up, because these guys are so obviously not American. It's like black skin + hip-hop clothes = the same as the guys in the videos.

As much as I rag on Nigerians, in fairness, I should admit a relative of mine is alluded to in gabbneb's post.

I knew a nigerian who lived in japan.

he didn't drink coffee, he took tea
he liked his toast done on one side
and you could tell from his accent when he said 'arigato'
he's a nigerian man in tokyo

i kinda understand what you guys are saying but not sure if you have been to nigeria lately, cuz urban streetwear fashion is fairly omnipresent globally.
