Elvis Telecom's drugged-out slow burner is really fucking great. It reminds me of Robyn's "With Every Heartbeat" on Quaaludes.
OTM. Really awesome

Co-incidentally I had a dream about U2 last night. We were standing on a beach, and they were showing me the lyrics sheet that was going to be included with the next album. But it was printed on a rubber bedsheet.
― snoball, Sunday, 29 March 2009 11:10 (fifteen years ago) link
guys i think i might have found a way to get this into the hands of u2 themselves
― WHO DEY and the blowfish (roxymuzak), Sunday, 29 March 2009 11:11 (fifteen years ago) link
I think that would be a great idea. Even if it's unlikely that Bono will listen to it and suddenly jump up wailing "oh no! I've been a pompous buffoon all these years!"

― AlXTC from Paris, Friday, 11 June 2010 10:27 (thirteen years ago) link
It's a very individual situation.
Oasis are gorn, all the other bands that might have qualified for this kind of 'tribute' are not exactly superpremier league anymore (Stones, REM) and no-one else 'winds up' the select few like U2.
Or Coldplay.

Supposedly an album of tracks discarded from NLotH. Also according to some rumours it has a reggae theme!

There's a partial and totally speculative tracklisting here, but it's not enough to go on. Also half of the tracks they list are out-takes from "How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb", so probably won't be on "Songs of Ascent" anyway. The only confirmed song is "Every Breaking Wave".

Bono indicated that he had become "tired of [writing in] the first-person"
end of the world.

Defintely the new Arcade Fire album, although preferrably the joke tracklisting that was floating around. In fact, I volunteer to be the midwife that brings Neighborhood #5 (Hockey) kicking and screaming into the world.
